We've been in hospital most of the week, but that doesn't stop a Happy Friday, does it? From our hardback existence, we can tell you about some really good TV shows, and of course we can tell you how our travel plans are going.
Disease
Illness sounds like a rather boring headline on a happy Friday, but I (Helena) am glad that I am now feeling better! When you have not been able to keep any food for several days, you are happy for the little things, like keeping some tea and a crust. Now I can also eat completely normal meals - fantastic!
Honestly, if you only suffer from occasional things like winter vomiting, you really have nothing to complain about. It's part of life! Now Peter is starting to feel a bit upside down, but he never gets as bad as me (take my word for it). Since we've mostly been hanging out at home, we can recommend three good TV series as a bonus:
- Stranger things - Science fiction horror with children in the lead role may not sound like a winning concept, but us beloved this series!
- Fauda - An elite unit of the Israeli army operates undercover in the West Bank and Gaza, and you can follow the both pages. Interesting!
- The Crown - Political power play and romance during Elizabeth II's time on the throne - we've only seen a few episodes but can't wait to see more!
Christmas holidays
Initially, we thought about doing a short trip over Christmas. We thought about visiting Belarus or Ireland, for example. Now there will be no trip. The main reason is the aforementioned illness in combination with me trying to finish a job. Too stressful!
Another reason is that we couldn't find any good prices. We followed the price development on a few different sites (including Momondo and Flygstolen.se), but after a while the prices stopped going down, and in some cases they even went up again. Prices were actually at their lowest about 1.5 weeks before departure. So it will be a quiet Christmas at home, but it will be perfectly ok!
Travel planning
But have we given up on travel planning? No! We are now looking at travelling over the New Year and the first week of January. Hopefully we can get away for a week then! Where it will be in that case remains to be seen. Now it's your turn! What has been the best part of your week?

Ditte says:
It is good that Helena is more alert and perhaps it is wise not to go away right now. And if you are going to travel, it is an advantage to be alert and have strength. Maybe something nice shows up for New Year.
"Happy Friday" yes, the whole week has been good with lots of sun, a trip to Murcia, long walks, nice meetings, outdoor lunches and a good delivery from IKEA.
Wishing you a "Happy Friday".

Helena says:
Oh, how marvellous! Where are you travelling to?
22 December 2017 - 19:17
Mr Frank Olsen says:
It's a shame that we won't be travelling during Christmas, but with illness in the body it's probably best to stay at home for a few days. Our best experience this week has been the Christmas market in Stuttgart, a city I have not visited in over 20 years. Nice city with a great Christmas market! https://janneogfrank.blogspot.no/2017/12/pa-julemarked-i-stuttgart.html
Get well soon to Helena and we hope Peter will make it through Christmas without any major problems 🙂.
22 December 2017 - 10:18
Helena says:
The Christmas market seems to have been really nice! 🙂 No trip right now... but we hope for a trip soon anyway!

Nils-Åke says:
Don't feel bad over Christmas. Now we know what we are doing until January. We have Ask (Granddaughter) here in between days. It usually gets intense, I hope he can sleep a little longer than 5 in the morning. But it will be fun for him to come home with us after Christmas.
22 December 2017 - 10:29
Helena says:
Cozy with grandchildren visits! Although I hope you can sleep a little longer than until five 😉.
22 December 2017 - 19:19
Snows says:
We have seen "Stranger Things" and "The Crown" so I can only agree that they are two very good series. It's a shame you can't get away but there will be more opportunities so just keep looking.
The best part of this week is that the kids are connecting and I have a Christmas holiday. Eighteen days off is not to be despised...
22 December 2017 - 13:47
Helena says:
Glad you like these series too! 18 days off ... great! I will have less, but still look forward to my days off! 🙂
22 December 2017 - 19:21

What a shame to have stomach flu, or whatever it was! But it goes over. So get well and have a nice Christmas holiday now 😀.
This week has been fun. Vara Concert Hall was a success, so much fun. Tomorrow morning I'm going up to see my daughters and their families, it fits in this week.
So I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Ruth in Virginia says:
Good to be on the mend. Rest in Christmas!!!
I have a question - This vomiting disease, is it something
that only happens in Sweden? Haven't heard of it
somewhere else.
22 December 2017 - 21:49
Helena says:
What an interesting question! I have no idea! I don't think I've ever had it before and at first I thought it was food poisoning, but when I kept vomiting for three days I realised it wasn't... I don't know about the distribution, but it shouldn't care about borders...??! 😉
23 December 2017 - 19:56
Razzy says:
Good that you are better again, I hope Peter will be fine. Too bad about the trip but there is always a chance for new ones instead. Here the week has been a bit sisodary with a broken knee, but now it is off for 10 days so I will just take it easy and cure me. Hugs Eva
23 December 2017 - 7:56
Helena says:
We are aiming for a trip in the new year instead so it is not a pity for us! Get well and we wish you a really nice Christmas!

Veiken says:
Winter vomiting is really bad, but thankfully it goes away. Fun with planning for a new trip.
TV series are out for me - I'm guaranteed to fall asleep after 10 minutes!
The best thing about our week has been that one of the grandchildren and his girlfriend have come to celebrate Christmas with us and that it is 25-30 degrees!
Merry Christmas to you and stay healthy!
