Today there will be recipes for warming soups here on the blog. I (Helena) have been sick for a few days and we have hardly been outside the houseboat. Peter has had to take care of his sick person and then he has made soup for me. So today we offer soup recipes!
Table of contents
Sick
I don't even really know what it is, but I have a stomach ache and have had trouble keeping food down for several days. I haven't eaten much at all, but now that I've started eating carefully, it's Peter's soups that are going down.
By the way, I am very tired and lying in bed writing this post on the iPhone. Will have to ask Peter to finish by adding pictures and films from the computer ... Luckily sometimes there are two of us running the blog!
Warming soups
We love soups, especially in winter. Soups are just as good for lunch as for dinner, perhaps with bread and a good cheese. In addition, a small bowl of soup makes a great starter for a fancy dinner. Here are two video recipes for soups.
Cauliflower and broccoli soup
The first soup is a soup with cauliflower and broccoli. I mean, is there anything as good as cauliflower in soup? This soup is great for lunch, along with some bread and cheese.
Luxurious mushroom soup
The next soup is a luxurious mushroom soup, and this one is also really good. I love mushroom soup and when it's homemade it tastes so much like mushrooms.
Do you have a favourite soup?
Do you have any favourite soups that you cook or eat?
Lena - good for the soul says:
Perfect with soup when you are ill or as a starter. I have never understood only soup as a dish. It's like no food! I get hungry after about half an hour. But strain the liquid and check how much food is left in the strainer! 🙂
Chanterelle soup is my favourite, so good!
Hug Lena

åsa in åsele says:
Hm... I wonder if you have eaten Norrland Meat Soup with dumplings?
Absolutely filling, I promise 🙂

Alexandra says:
You don't have to have smooth soups. 🙂
19 December 2017 - 9:19
Helena says:
It depends on that, I think. Partly what kind of soup it is of course (some soups are hearty), if you have hearty bread or if you maybe eat the classic soup and pancake 😉 Then it may be that you want a lighter meal sometimes, for some reason ... if you had a late hearty lunch or something 😉

Mr Steve says:
Soup is good in summer and winter. Soup is also pleasantly filling. We try to eat soup once a week. In winter, we eat pea soup with punch once a month.
19 December 2017 - 7:07
Helena says:
Pea soup is good! Not often we eat actually, but I like it!
19 December 2017 - 12:55
åsa in åsele says:
Cauliflower is not something I choose to eat, I have a phobia of cauliflower 😉 have you noticed how cauliflower crunches... like chewing on styrofoam 😉.
Soup is a warming food. We usually eat meat soup with dumplings almost once a week during the winter 🙂 pepper soup & broccoli soup are also two good soups.
Get well soon Helena, hugs

Helena says:
Thank you so much Åsa! And haha, cauliflower MAY crackle when it's raw, but definitely not cooked 😉 I've never had soup with dumplings ...

Lennart says:
Soup is good, we often eat it in the evenings!

Henny says:
There are so many delicious soups. For example, carrot soup, cauliflower, potato and leek soup. I have also found a way to trick the grandchildren into eating meat soup. They just like the "broth" so I mix it almost smooth and then they eat it with good appetite.
Hope you have time to recover properly before Christmas Helena. I'm sure Peter's soups will help with that.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you both.
19 December 2017 - 8:43
Helena says:
Smart to find a way to get the grandchildren to like the soup! And thank you so much Henny! Have been really bad actually. A little more alert today, but still a stomach ache ... but it will get better! We also wish you a very nice Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Fish soup is my favourite soup!
Get well soon.

Helena says:
Fish soup is a favourite with us too 🙂 .

Ama de casa says:
But you poor thing... Get well soon!
I admire you for being able to even write about food. When I feel bad, I don't want to hear about food, let alone look at it. Just the opposite of the normal situation.
Hope you feel better today!
19 December 2017 - 9:26
Helena says:
I've been very reluctant to eat actually, but when I wrote this post I had at least had some soup ... (and it was Peter who went messing around with photos and films ;)) I'm a bit more alert today, but still at home from work and mostly in bed ...

Ditte says:
I like a creamy fish soup with good seafood, but soups are also good for everyday use. We make a lot of soups and both mushroom soup and broccoli/potato soup are good. Yes, most of the mushrooms, but I don't want them "flabby". Will try both at some point (the mushroom soup is very similar to one I usually make).
I hope you're feeling better and have more energy soon.
19 December 2017 - 10:11
Helena says:
Mushroom soup is always good and I agree, they should not be soggy! And thank you so much!

Nils-Åke says:
A good soup is never wrong. But Meat soup with dumplings wrote a comment, I remember as a child we got dumplings.
But a fish soup or just a simple potato soup is good.
Get well soon,

Helena says:
Fish soup is good! I have never tasted meat soup with dumplings 😉.

BP says:
Poor thing! I don't envy you, because stomach pains and not being able to keep your food are very hard on you. Get well soon!
We love soups that are perfect for autumn and winter. Fish, mushroom and potato/leek soups are our favourites. And it takes no time to cook them either. Win-win:-)
19 December 2017 - 13:01
Helena says:
Thank you very much! Yes, I have been ridiculously ill actually and am not well yet. I agree that leek and potato soup is good. It's been a long time since we cooked!

Annalena says:
How sad that you are sick 🙁 It is not that you have got gastric migraine too? Thought of all the stress, which I simply took for granted that you experience ( ?! ) with job change and your pace ... 😉 Two of my girls have it and they have stomach pain and vomiting, in addition to headaches. Comes very often during exams, hectic weeks and when travelling, strong lights and smells... Get well soon!
19 December 2017 - 15:01
Helena says:
Poor your girls having to deal with stomach migraines Annalena! I can also vomit from migraines, but this time I think it's more like winter vomiting or something.

Annalena says:
Forgot to write that I like goulash soup the most, hearty and delicious with a little creme fraiche and a good bread, and a vegetable soup made from oven-roasted vegetables with the same accessories <3
19 December 2017 - 15:03
Helena says:
Oh yes, goulash soup is super good! We have eaten it a lot sometimes, but now it was a long time ago actually ...!

Rantamor on the retina says:
But poor thing, get well soon, it's Christmas week and all, hope your stomach is fine, and you're lucky to have Peter looking after you.
I have the same job as Peter.... I look after Rantafar.
Here we started the week by visiting the infirmary and the doctor diagnosed Rantafar with Shingles....
Sigh, and too late he came in too to get help from the antidote.
Well, it's not a fatal disease, thankfully, but he could do without three months of pain and itching and burning.
Hope you have a nice Christmas !!!
Hugs from Rantamor and Rantafar.
19 December 2017 - 15:28
Helena says:
Thank you so much Rantamor! And oh no, how boring with shingles! I have heard from others that it is not fun at all ... really hope that it will not be too bad for Rantafar and that he recovers as soon as possible! Wish you also a nice Christmas!

Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
First of all, let's hope you get better.
You can't get enough of soup recipes, although we have a few that come back on the menu often. We like a simple carrot soup with lots of freshly grated ginger, garlic and orange. It scares the hell out of every bacterium. Then there's beetroot soup with cabbage and onions. Even the lentil soup of the 70s is sometimes included. Then there are the more festive ones like fish soup and chanterelle soup. Wow, how hungry I got....
19 December 2017 - 20:19
Helena says:
Thank you so much Britt-Marie! The soups you write about, carrot soup, beetroot soup and lentil soup, we don't actually cook. But maybe you should do that! 🙂
20 December 2017 - 6:37
Across the board says:
My favourite soup is probably French onion soup with croutons and cheese, although it's hard to choose because soup is so good!
Get well, so you can eat some Christmas food soon!
19 December 2017 - 20:43
Helena says:
I've seen that French onion soup au gratin in cookbooks, but I don't think I've ever had it... Sounds good! 🙂 And thank you so much! Still not in the mood for Christmas food ... but it might come ... 😉.
