Ever since we came home from Helsinki (and Israel), the houseboat has been in chaos. The suitcases are unpacked, there's laundry and dishes everywhere, and to top it off, Peter has set up a green screen studio in the living room. Did you think that was enough? No, the ice on Lake Ulvsunda is playing tricks on us too. Friday at last! Let's do Happy Friday!
Chaos in the houseboat - in every room!
It really is chaos at our house right now. In the kitchen the dishes are unwashed even though we have a dishwasher, in the boiler room/laundry room (also called our crawl-in closet) the laundry piles are growing and in the bedroom the suitcases are open but unpacked. But the worst is still in the living room, where Peter has set up his Green screen equipment. Total chaos is just the name of the game.
Why this chaos?
Well, why this chaos, you might ask? The thing is that we are busy, and simply prioritise other things than things like cleaning, washing and dishwashing. I (Helena) work full time (plus I have an extra project on the side) and when I'm not working I'm busy blogging or running at events.
Peter works just all day long with everything from updating the blog's travel tips and location pages with maps and pictures to running press releases, editing films, setting up collaborations with travel companies and planning our participation in the fair. Caravan Stockholm. And then he takes care of the home. Or well, at least he goes shopping and prepares very good dinners every day! The cleaning has perhaps become little suffering ...
Ice keeps us awake
After long days with a lot of work, you want to get a good night's sleep, but that's not always the case. When the temperature rose, the ice on Lake Ulvsunda broke up, and because of the strong winds, all the ice floes drifted towards us in the lake. Pampas marina. Where do they end up? Around the bow of our boat! The ice floes may seem small, but the sound of them hitting the bow propagates throughout the hull as hard impacts. All night it sounded like we were under attack!
I tried to sleep, but kept waking up. When I finally went back to sleep (around 5 a.m.), I dreamt that the houseboat broke away from the dock. We slipped into the open water, where we met waves and Finnish ferries ...
Good morning! At 06:00, it's time to wake up, no matter how you slept. Let's say "Happy Friday" and welcome the weekend! How has your week been?
Lennart says:
Wishing you a nice weekend!
Here, the week has been as usual!

I celebrate the motto "The dust bunnies in the corners are proof that those who live here have something more fun to do". We ourselves are on the train to Stockholm for a little mini-break with visits to the new Scandinavian Photo, Fotografiska and Brolle at Göta Lejon. Nice after four long working days (we have also left a home that needed a weekend cleaning).
26 January 2018 - 8:24
Helena says:
Good motto! And what interesting and nice things you have in front of you this weekend! Wish you a really nice mini-break in Stockholm! 🙂

Husis blog says:
Sometimes the owners can almost think it is nice to have chaos in their house, just relax from everything... even if this does not happen often. But what's a few dishes on the sink, unpacked bags, etc. Life goes on anyway for homosapiens... ?
For the owners, it has been a busy week where sleep has suffered. Just returned from Cape Verde with a flight that was delayed so Monday night's sleep was minimal. This has then left its mark all week. They think it will be nice to sleep in now that it is the weekend.
26 January 2018 - 8:26
Helena says:
Cape Verde sounds really lovely! Maybe not as lovely with a delayed flight though... Hope the owners get to rest up this weekend!!!

Ama de casa says:
To use a cliché: Better to have a bit of shit in the corners than pure hell... 😉 (Those clichés are pretty accurate, which is why they have become "clichés").
It's hard on the ice. Such sounds can really get on your nerves. I really hope the boat is not damaged by them!
Here the week has been completely canoeing. For real, that is. We took a small day trip to Cartagena and one of the filming locations for "The Cannons of Navarone". A lovely little trip 🙂
Have a nice and happy Friday!
26 January 2018 - 9:28
Helena says:
I think the boat can handle those little ice puffs, it's worse with our nerves ???. . Will look at your blog about Navarone!
26 January 2018 - 15:10
Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
Nice weekend! Can be a bit messy here at home also cleaning not fun but a must.
26 January 2018 - 9:49
Helena says:
Surely it's a must ... we just put it off a bit?
26 January 2018 - 15:12
JoY says:
Hopefully the wind will change and take the remains of the ice out of the marina.
Have a nice weekend
Hugs

Helena says:
It has calmed down now! Have a nice weekend!
26 January 2018 - 15:12
Inga Magnusson says:
Don't worry about the roof! Now you have the whole weekend to catch up with the cleaning. Worse with the ice of course, perhaps only hearing protection / earplugs are applicable.
26 January 2018 - 10:33
Helena says:
The idea is gone now it seems. Earplugs would not have been a bad idea! ?
26 January 2018 - 15:14
Christian says:
Increase Peter!
26 January 2018 - 11:38
Peter says:
Hahaha, my blogger friend who knows exactly how it is. We will and want to finish our blog before the fair in February.

Annika in Spain says:
It's all about prioritisation!
It does not look good here at home either, because we prioritised going on a picnic on our free afternoon, instead of taking care of dishes and laundry and garbage. Neither dishes nor laundry disappear, but the warm, beautiful weather does 🙂.
Exciting with the sound of ice! I think, as I don't sleep with it in my ears...
My Friday didn't start off very happy, but with bad ears and a lost voice. It was just a matter of cancelling my work and my home life. It's hard to teach in a whisper. Also, my ears get so much worse if I go down the mountain, 700 metres, so that's a very convincing reason not to go to Seville until the cold is over, preferably.
Happy weekend to you!
26 January 2018 - 12:08
Helena says:
Yes, you have to prioritise! Picnic sounds more important than washing up, I think? Get well soon!
26 January 2018 - 15:18
Linnea - Lanclin.com says:
You can do some hotel collaborations while a cleaning company cleans up and the ice melts 😉 Joking aside, have a great weekend!
26 January 2018 - 12:26
Helena says:
Haha, yes such a co-operation would be needed! ?
26 January 2018 - 15:18
Role o Carina says:
It will probably work out for you too, you'll see! 🙂
The only ice cream I want is the one in Groggen 🙂.
Have a nice weekend...........Please choose 🙂 .

Ice clearly fits better in the grog! ? Have a nice weekend!

Maria's Memoirs says:
Oh well, my home is more often messy than in order, and I'm not as busy as you are 😉 Doesn't sound so nice with restless sleep though....
26 January 2018 - 12:33
Helena says:
Not the best night, but it rarely happens ...
26 January 2018 - 15:19
Lena - good for the soul says:
Sometimes chaos is necessary when you need to prioritise other things, quite simply. It's nice when it comes in order.
I have been a bit sick for a couple of days, but am now better. Not much has happened apart from working and resting. Looking forward to an unplanned weekend!
Happy Friday to you!
Hug Lena
26 January 2018 - 13:08
Helena says:
Get well and have a nice weekend Lena!
26 January 2018 - 15:30
Mr Steve says:
If you are busy, you are busy. Then it is important to prioritise even more carefully. But, I will readily admit that the unclean and full of dishes is something I have never managed to do. For better or worse, of course.
Your dream can't have been pleasant. I mean, who wants to wake up with a Finnish ferry out of the corner of their eye...
The week at Getingstorp has been nice as we have been able to enjoy the fact that winter has taken another break. Then I immediately start looking around the corner for spring.
Happy friday and a continued eventful and nice weekend I wish you!
26 January 2018 - 13:26
Helena says:
It almost feels like spring in the air, so maybe there will be no more winter? I myself could imagine a little more of the white fluffy 😉 Have a nice weekend!
26 January 2018 - 15:31
Goatfish says:
But my God, I say to every picture. Peter looks completely exhausted! But what about you? You must also, no, it is clear, you sleep the beauty sleep with icing 😀 laughs well.
Happy Friday, ju!
I have had fun, sung Gospel in the Concert Hall, stayed in a hotel, eaten good food, enjoyed good friends. Will not complain 😀
26 January 2018 - 14:25
BP says:
Yes, you have to prioritise. Cleaning is not our strength either, but I can not handle old ingrained discs. However, see that it is very nice order on all your shoes Helena;-)
Not being able to sleep during the night when you have to get up in the morning is not great. So I assume that you welcomed almost seven plus degrees for three days now and today four degrees, Now the ice should be completely gone now.

I long for a house in the country. But not because of the icing....
26 January 2018 - 18:43
Ann-Louise says:
Funny pictures 🙂 Recognise the chaos at home... a constant state here at home. Must probably try to clean up a bit this weekend because we will go away in a few weeks and then must have a cat sitter who should preferably not be completely frightened when he or she steps through the door ...
26 January 2018 - 21:10
Christine - 29°. says:
Absolutely right to do more fun things than washing dishes and cleaning, you have to do that sometimes. 🙂
