Today we are presenting 12 small vans and a small motorhome from the Caravan Stockholm 2018 fair. It feels like the number of vans increases every year at the fairs, and this year you could really check out the lots of tinkerers. Is there someone you particularly like or are particularly curious about?

The Inspire comes from Slovenia and offers slightly different solutions. For example, it has a normal motorhome door instead of the classic van door that is pulled to the side. It also doesn't have the classic rear doors, which, according to the sellers, gives it a slightly larger surface area and less cold penetration. We show the shortest model, which has three berths (one in the back and two that fold down over the dining area). There is also a slightly longer model with four beds.

- Basic price: SEK 681 000

10th Pössl Summit 600 Plus
Pössl motorhomes always look good, especially this red model. This version is equipped with transverse beds.

Thank you very much for this informative briefing! Let's see if the trend towards smaller and more compact motorhomes continues. Considering that, for example, some Germans are prepared to sleep in a converted car, there is still some way to go before the perfection of minimalism.
18 February 2018 - 8:58
Helena says:
Small motorhomes are even more popular down south. In Sweden, we are used to relatively large and comfortable motorhomes, so the step to a converted car will probably be a long one for many 😉 But motorhomes are definitely becoming more and more popular!

Matts Torebring says:
Imagine if these vehicles existed, (and if we could afford it) when we travelled to Arvidsjaur 50 years ago, in a Saab V4 and lived in 4-man tents, with a blue roof and orange walls. The food was cooked on a Trianga kitchen. Now that time of adventure is over for us. Now we have become comfortable and want space, ("Otherwise it doesn't matter") We are still happy that there is something for everyone in today's offer.
18 February 2018 - 9:04
Helena says:
You're prepared to travel a little more uncomfortably for the adventure of being sick when you're young 😉 These vehicles are suitable for both young and old, but they cost a lot too.

Evy Knoph says:
It looks so heavenly cosy 🙂 fun with an insight like this.... a small aber is that I do not like to drive far and on unknown bridges etc.
But when you see them, you start wondering... How many can you ride in them? 4/? I guess everyone has to be strapped in while travelling?
18 February 2018 - 9:18
Helena says:
Yes, you have to wear a seat belt. 4 belted seats are the norm.

Solan says:
I hear the sound of the sliding door....baaaang!?
Excellent quick presentation of smaller cars. Don't know how you manage to do everything during the fair days?
18 February 2018 - 9:30
Helena says:
Haha, not easy to keep up with ... Yesterday I arrived at the Vantouters stand a minute before closing and had to ask them to light up again and reopen the cars ... 😉 .

Anki says:
Many exciting vehicles to choose from. I think the smaller models are the most interesting and if we ever change our motorhome, it will certainly be a smaller model than the one we have.
Thank you for another interesting and informative post.
18 February 2018 - 9:34
Helena says:
Glad you enjoyed the report! Both small and large motorhomes have their advantages depending on what you are looking for. We are also keen on a smaller motorhome actually.
18 February 2018 - 10:19
Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
We still say the Plåtisen is good. After having had three other motorhomes. What we greatly appreciate is the shower in our Malibu and that you do not turn off in the aisle. Instead, whoever is outside your space can prepare for the day, make the bed and prepare breakfast.
Nice report!
18 February 2018 - 9:38
Helena says:
Glad you are happy with your Malibu!

BP says:
What an incredibly ambitious presentation of the ploughmen. Did you walk around with a notebook or something? Anyway, you did a fantastic job there.
I'm not a motorhome person, but the Mercan was my favourite here. It looked like the "smoothest".
18 February 2018 - 16:36
Helena says:
Haha no, but I always take a picture of the information sign about the car first - and then I take a picture of the car 😉.

Christopher Engstrand says:
Thanks for a great review! Just one thing that I see many people getting wrong.
Flatbed = camping car/camping bus. It is not the same as a small camper van. A small camper van is a camper van with real insulation. It is not a construction such as a flatbed/camper van/camper bus.
18 February 2018 - 16:38
Helena says:
Thank you for your comment Christopher! It's great that you clarify if we misunderstood something. I'm not quite sure what you mean though? Do you mean that a flatbed should rather be described as a campervan/camping bus? We also have many readers who do not drive a motorhome and then you want to describe a flatbed in a way that is understandable ...
18 February 2018 - 17:33
Role o Carina says:
We would probably choose a Malibu if there was a plough! 🙂
You have done a great report on everything 🙂 .
Take care......
18 February 2018 - 17:44
Helena says:
Malibu is beautiful! Glad you enjoyed the report!

åsa in åsele says:
These small campervans are certainly good if you don't want comfort 😉 .
Similar to these small simple motorhomes, there are quite a few on campsites around Norrland, many people who fish, hike etc or drive from southern Europe to the land of the midnight sun 😀 have them.
Read here above about a trip with saab & tent to Arvidsjaur, kind of like my first holiday trips with my parents, from tent to something called combi-camp if I remember correctly and then we became with caravan 🙂 .
Thank you for a great report.
18 February 2018 - 20:47
Helena says:
Tents were more common in the past in Sweden, but are still common further south! And I personally think that the ploughmen can be reasonably comfortable, but it depends on what you compare with 😉.

Inga Magnusson says:
Nice to see all motorhome models. Thanks for the great presentation! Of course I would love to have a small motorhome, but I have a big old man who panics in tight spaces. My best holiday is still the trip around Denmark in a pick-up with a campervan kit on the back. But Roland panicked, could only stand straight at the roof vent. ;-)) Then he was cured of motorhomes for the rest of his life. ;-)) Too bad, I think.
19 February 2018 - 14:17
Helena says:
I'm sorry that Roland was discouraged. I understand that it's hard if it feels too crowded, but there are some models with higher ceilings as well ...
21 February 2018 - 19:45
Åsa says:
We are thinking of another trip with a flatbed / camper van, maybe for Easter. Let's see if it happens. The most fun would be to own one, but they are not cheaper here but on the contrary more expensive.
19 February 2018 - 20:48
Helena says:
Lovely, I hope it happens! No, unfortunately, not cheap. Wonder why they are more expensive there? (Although even here you often have to give more than the basic price because you almost always need at least some extra equipment).
21 February 2018 - 19:47
Henny says:
I have written about and linked to the story on my Instagram account. OK with you?
22 February 2018 - 0:10
Elisabeth says:
I don't think I'd go for a flatbed, but I can imagine a smaller motorhome. Our first was a fully integrated 5.98 long Detleffs. The downside was the minimal load space.
24 February 2018 - 12:36
Fredrik Bergström says:
Great job!
I think Hymercars Grand Canyon S and La strada Regent S, both sheet metal on Sprinter chassis, could have been included Carthago Malibu is expensive and nice but why have they skimped on not putting frame windows.

Lena - good for the soul says:
Simpler cars, less luxury, and smaller price tags appeal to me more than the flashy stuff. Sure, it's nice to look at the more luxurious stuff, but I personally wouldn't think it was worth the money.

Globe-Traveller says:
We feel very honoured being mentioned at the top of this listing. And it is also a real honour for us to see our camper van next to well established brands. Thank you very much for this article!

Amanda (Swedish Passport) says:
But then help what cars there are! Inspiring to see what is available 🙂

Mr Jan Sjöberg says:
Hey, hey, hey, hey,
Thank you for all the info and especially the info on ploughmen. Your blog is an encyclopaedia. The wife and I have borrowed motorhomes from friends, but have not had the financial ability, yet. Our choice will undoubtedly be a flatbed around 6 metres. We are crazy golfers, so the information on different weights was necessary when choosing a car.
All the best and live well to Janne in Sjöstaden.

Kjell Kronqvist says:
Hello, thank you for a good presentation of the different types of plasters.
Just a few questions: Which of the cottages have a toilet/kitchen.
Nothing luxurious but it should be functional.
11 November 2020 - 23:06
Helena says:
Hi Kjell! Most ploughmen have both a toilet and a kitchen. In our list there are two that do not have a proper kitchen and toilet. Number 2 (Campster Globecar) has no toilet or kitchen. Number 8 (Marco Polo) has no toilet and only a small hotplate for cooking.
