It's Friday again! Living in a houseboat is always exciting, so when it's time for Happy Friday, we have to share the houseboat life with you. Living like this makes us always just as happy! This week Peter has photographed a huge floating villa that slipped by a few centimetres from our houseboat. I don't want to be worse, so I've been photographing the huge construction going on outside the windows at my work.
Variable weather
Weather can be a rather boring topic of conversation, but the weather this week has certainly not been boring. On the contrary! The week has seen the most weather you can think of, so to speak. At the weekend it was gloriously sunny. Then it rained, snowed, blew, thawed and froze a little at a time.
A house on the move
If you live in an apartment or villa, you may not be used to houses moving around, but here it happens from time to time. A large aquavilla, i.e. a floating villa manufactured by Aquavilla AB, arrived at the marina some time ago and has since been lying unoccupied at the quayside. In recent days, some other houseboats have been moved around to make room for the new house, and now it was time to tow the villa to its new location.
Since the new aqua villa has been placed on one of the outer sides of the marina, it first had to be towed out of the marina, which is what Peter has photographed. After it was towed out, it was put in its proper place, and now we assume it will be sold. It looks like many of the other aquavillas in the marina but is a little smaller, as it has no basement.
More things that move
Whilst Peter is at home in the marina looking at houses moving around, I am at my job at Torsplan watching the construction of the Norra Tornen at Torsplan in Stockholm. These two skyscrapers will be 120 and 104 metres high, or 35 and 30 floors respectively, and contain 330 apartments between them. Not a small building! So far, only one of the towers is under construction, but it's growing every day, I can promise you.
Your turn ... what has been your favourite part of the week?

Anna, Travel on a Cloud says:
Impressive that you can tow a large house around like that! Understand that it caught the attention. Cool with the skyscrapers too!
Best of the week? At the risk of being annoying, I must once again highlight the feedback from my customers. Love my job! 🙂

So cool with houses floating around just like that! Exciting start to the day: "where are we going to float today"....
When it comes to weather, it's just as you say, as many weather variations in as short a time as possible! I do not know if it is the best of the week, but now I have at least started "working for real" so now we will see how it can be. It was a while ago...;)

Helena says:
Excited about the job! Hope it will be good! 🙂

Best thing this week? Skiing in Åre and WinterWorkation. And that the cold continues with all the snow. Real winter, for real!
02 February 2018 - 9:25
Helena says:
A little jealous of both Winter workation and snow actually. Hope to read some reports from Åre! 🙂

Liniz Travel says:
Best was probably that I went to Las Palmas 2 days! Love the city but unfortunately it rained a lot and I did not do everything I thought. But a lot of shopping and
Good food it was 🙂
I was also impressed by all the buildings there when I was on the
Astrid Lindgren with her baby last autumn.
Nice weekend hugs

Helena says:
Sad with rain but it still sounds cosy with Palma! 🙂 Yes, around here it is really built everywhere ...!

Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
Doesn't happen much, it has rained and today there is wet snow.
But I bought a new printer at the HP store so it was sent online. Have started to shop more online then I get it home to the door.
Got back our car washed and cleaned our daughter's family has borrowed it. But now they are in Stockholm and pick up the new one today.

The best was undoubtedly three days in Åre. And to experience it again at home when I wrote posts about Åre!
Have a nice weekend!

Helena says:
Great that it was so good in Åre! Have only heard positive. Looking forward to reports! 🙂

Exciting views for both of you! The best thing this week is probably that I recovered from the cold and get to meet the little baby today.
Happy Friday!

Good to be healthy again! Have a nice weekend!

Mr Steve says:
These are exciting neighbourhoods you live in. There are no houses floating by and no residential towers being built. Which is good.
The best part of this week happens tonight. The children and grandchildren will arrive with one of our Christmas presents. Cheese tasting at Getingstorp.
02 February 2018 - 14:13
Helena says:
It's probably lucky that no towers are being built in your area... 😉 Cheese tasting sounds great! Have a nice weekend!

Role o Carina says:
We like our solid house that doesn't float around! 🙂
But you have no snow, here almost 1 metre, Ugh!
Happy Holidays......

It sounds like you don't like snow ... I think it's a little less dark when there's snow ...

FantasyDining says:
It must be very special to live like that. 🙂 fun when it happens a lot around. The best thing this week is probably that I got the go-ahead for the next trip 🙂 Now I have lots to plan.
02 February 2018 - 14:49
Helena says:
Exciting!!! Where is the journey going ...?
02 February 2018 - 19:31
BP says:
It was close. Not many centimetres behind there. But exciting to watch.
The northern tower has really "grown" since I photographed it in October last year. I think the building is so incredibly delicious. One of the few new buildings that does not resemble a shoebox. Oh, I got a nice construction crane on the purchase too:-) Thanks for that! Would love to work where you work. Documenting the development of/on a construction site is the most fun there is:-)
02 February 2018 - 15:07
Helena says:
Even I enjoy watching the construction of the tower! I think you would like my window at work 😉.
02 February 2018 - 19:32
Matts Torebring says:
Don't you feel the vibrations in your body when you go ashore? We ourselves got a completely new stable motorhome accommodation, with our new hydraulic support legs. Now we stand like on mountains when we park.
02 February 2018 - 17:23
Helena says:
The first two weeks when we lived here (2013) we felt the rocking when we went ashore. Then it was like my office at work was swaying! But no, after those first two weeks we don't feel anything anymore ...
02 February 2018 - 19:33
Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
Wonderful, exciting views you have outside your window.
Here, the week has been filled with work and evening activities.
The most positive thing this week is that I had to change my weights at the gym, the treadmill feels lighter (even though I just walk instead of run) and this has meant that my arthritic shoulder is almost pain-free!
Let's celebrate with a glass of red and some good food tonight.
02 February 2018 - 18:23
Helena says:
Wow, tough to trade up with weights! Absolutely worth celebrating! 🙂
02 February 2018 - 19:34
Lena & Jan says:
Cool to move around with the aqua houses like that... Can I wish for new inspiring views, sunshine, windbreaks etc. in the residential neighbourhoods as well?
Stockholm has "tower" buildings on G, a novelty for us who have not seen / heard SVT / SR for a very long time! Wonderful when alternative housing flourishes!
The best of the week was; Pata Negra 2008 Vino Tinto, Tempranilla.... AND all weather types (except the promised Calima/Sandstorm) have passed so now comes the early summer weekend ? Schön wochende Helena and Peter ? ??
02 February 2018 - 19:28
Helena says:
Haha, wouldn't it be good to move the villa a bit to get the right angle to the sun? But at least the motorhome can be moved! 🙂 The wine sounds like something that could be tasted! Wish you both a nice weekend!
02 February 2018 - 19:36
Christine - 29°. says:
So fun to see how a house moves around. And how good they are to make it work so smoothly with the flow 🙂.

Really cool with the houseboat life! Would be fun to try it for a while. My Dutch friend actually grew up on one for a couple of years.
