Today we present new motorhomes and trends at Caravan Stockholm 2018. We checked out what the different companies had to offer yesterday and can offer a mix of exclusive motorhomes and nursery models.

New motorhomes and trends?
Many of the 2018 models were already shown at the Elmia fair last autumn, but some of the motorhomes are being shown for the first time here at Caravan Stockholm. We haven't had time to look at all motorhome brands, but we've had a chance to look at a whole bunch and present some of the 2018 novelties. It should also be said that several major brands seem to be missing from the fair, such as Adria, Kabe and Knaus.
What about trends? It's not easy to say, but it feels like luxury, queen beds and both large and small motorhomes are trending. The small motorhomes we show in another post. Today we are showing motorhomes between 6.95 and 9 metres.
We react to the fact that most new motorhomes weigh over 3.5 tonnes, which makes travelling in Europe much more complicated. More and more countries are requiring transponders and extra charges for motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes. We also wonder why there is so much focus on luxury and so little on affordable budget cars. But there are plenty of good-looking cars! What do you think about motorhomes and current motorhome trends?
Hymer B-SL
One of the newest models at Hymer is the Hymer B-SL, a fully integrated motorhome available in two different layouts. The special feature of these vehicles is that they are built with a new type of chassis, which lowers the centre of gravity and slightly reduces the overall weight of the vehicle.
- Length: 7.8 metres
- Total weight: 4.5 tonnes
- Basic price: 1 529 000 SEK
Hymer Exsis-t 588
Hymer also presents a model with a maximum weight of 3.5 tonnes. We think it's good that not all new motorhomes have a higher weight! After all, it is a little easier to travel around Europe with a motorhome under 3.5 tonnes.
- Length: 6.95 metres
- Total weight: 3.5 tonnes
- Basic price: 790 000 SEK
Carado I 449
The Carado motorhome brand is Hymer's so-called "entry-level model" and offers motorhomes in slightly lower price ranges. The latest variant is the Carado I 449 - a fully integrated model with an interior that was not previously available in fully integrated vehicles.
- Length: 7.4 metres
- Total weight: 3.5 tonnes
- Basic price: 695 000 SEK
Elnagh I-Loft 531
The latest model from Elnagh is the I-Loft 531, a fully integrated motorhome with long beds and a rear bathroom. There is also an efficient heating system in this vehicle.
- Length: 7.4 metres
- Total weight: 4.4 tonnes
- Basic price: 765 800 SEK
Pilot The traveller
Pilote has many interior design options in its 2018 models, all of which were presented at Elmia last autumn. When we ask the sales staff what customers are asking for right now, we get the answer that both queen beds and low long beds are popular. We chose to check out Pilote Le Voyageur, which is a little extra luxurious.
- Length: 8.55 metres
- Total weight: 5 tonnes
- Basic price: 1 412 000 SEK
Euramobil Integra 890
Euramobil has two new models in 2018, of which we present the longer one. This motorhome includes air conditioning, an oven and a coffee machine that can be pulled down from the overhead cabinets in one neat move. The car is also filled with cool lighting. For example, the bathroom door lights up when you close it.
- Length: 8.99 metres
- Total weight: 5 or 5.3 tonnes
- Basic price: 1 489 000 SEK
Laika Kreos 8009
Laika has a new model in 2018, the Kreos 8009. Some interesting details in this car are that there is an oven and that the shower has shelves that can be folded up or down. So if you don't want to use the shower, you can use the space as a wardrobe. We ask the sales people at Laika what is most in demand right now, and they tell us that automatic transmissions are in great demand.
- Length: 8.29 metres
- Total weight: 6.5 tonnes
- Basic price: 1 507 400 SEK
Chausson 716 Ford Flash nursery model
Chausson presents an exciting and different model, with space for five people both when travelling and at night. This motorhome has a different solution with a room with a table and seating at the back, where a bunk bed with two beds can be folded down for the night.
- Length: 7.49 metres
- Total weight: 3.5 tonnes
- Basic price: SEK 684 000
Ruth in Virginia says:
OK - That's all I needed, before slipping in.
between the sheets. Oh, guvebars, luxury on wheels.
Wishing you a great Saturday. - Ciao!
17 February 2018 - 6:10
Helena says:
Thank you Ruth!

Across the board says:
Frankia's new one, with a round seating area in the back, I was very fond of when I saw it at Elmia. Now Carthago comes with the same floor plan that will be very exciting to look at. Perhaps none of them are on site in Kista but expect to see Carthago at Elmia this autumn.
You write that Elnagh has a completely new heating system - what is new?
17 February 2018 - 8:09
Helena says:
Thank you for your comment! I have changed the wording regarding the heating system a bit, I think it will be better. The aim is for the cars to work all year round, and the fact that you can get water-based heating for these motorhomes is new.
17 February 2018 - 9:18
Across the board says:
And I thought they were coming up with something revolutionary 🙂 .
17 February 2018 - 14:52
Mr Peter Rydh says:
What about cars over 3500kg, have you weighed your car with full luggage, full tanks and all people on board? If so, you probably have the answer to why it is good with total weights over 3500kg 🙂 .
17 February 2018 - 8:59
Helena says:
We understand the dilemma completely! So absolutely we understand the need for bigger cars. At the same time, they are getting more and more tricky in many European countries. So it's a trade-off, based on what needs you have of course. For ourselves, we would like to switch to a smaller one 😉.

Leif Strandberg says:
I have weighed my HB with full packing ..3600 so 100kg overweight.
Checked if I could update to 3900 they went ..with certificate new stronger suspension forward registrationbes. Total cost 18.500:-
The problem I live in Solna a car that weighs over 3500 gets no resident parking by Solna city. Jv sour .. it is the same HB that I have had for 10 years. As I then had resident parking for 10 years.
What to do..I have not been able to find a private car park.
So I have to bite the bullet and re-register the car at 3500. Now for the summer.
I want to stay in Solna.
Is there anyone near the police station in Solna who has a private parking space for a 7m HB.
I would like to rent it during the summer months.
17 February 2018 - 20:48
Helena says:
Oh no, what a sad and difficult situation! It's good to be able to weigh a car to be able to drive it without it being too heavy ... but then there were other problems instead ... Hope you find a car park!
17 February 2018 - 21:03
Solan says:
We have the same problem. Joined the CaravanClub which has a summer setup in Bålsta. It may be a shuttle from Sumpan. But then you have a guaranteed fenced place. At a lower cost. We already have problems finding a parking space. Freedom apologise if I jump in?
17 February 2018 - 22:58
Matts Torebring says:
It feels like the market is expected to accept higher and higher prices, on most things, without the market reacting. Several of the cars you show cost one and a half million. Not only motorhomes are rapidly increasing in price, but also building and living. Many people don't seem to care about the cost.
When it comes to splendour and luxury, I think it is quite excessive on some details. What's more important is that there are good cargo spaces and storage. When we bought our first new motorhome in 1999, everything was missing, even the essentials such as a mattress for the beds. Then it was the other way round.
17 February 2018 - 9:25
Helena says:
Yes, everything is getting more and more expensive and more and more luxurious it seems. There is of course a market for that too, but as usual we think there is a bit too much focus on glamour and a bit too little focus on functionality 😉.
17 February 2018 - 20:49
Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
If you want to drive in Europe, you have to have a 3.5-tonne car and a Plåtis A few stickers on the window are needed. But it's still convenient,
17 February 2018 - 9:57
Helena says:
It's possible to drive in Europe with both small and large motorhomes, but it's a bit more complicated when you have a heavier motorhome.
17 February 2018 - 20:50
Husis blog says:
I would rather weigh more than 3.5 tonnes than less, at least in my "normal" size of 7.55m. If I did not weigh more than that, the owners would not have been able to load more than themselves. Sure, it's not just to honk and drive, but there are simple tools to find out what to put in the box, and it's only once a year I'm out in the southern latitudes.
It's a good thing there's a second-hand market, because we motorhomes are getting really expensive when we buy new ones.
17 February 2018 - 10:26
Helena says:
"Yes, the cargo space is easily a problem in lighter motorhomes, I have to agree. And yes, the second-hand market is good. The new motorhomes are not exactly free.
17 February 2018 - 20:51
Elisabeth says:
The deterrent is the price. Good thing there's a second-hand market.
What is written on the total weight is irrelevant, the important thing to know is the load weight. Excess weight can be expensive, whether the car is big or small.
17 February 2018 - 10:43
Helena says:
It is true that the load weight is important! I think the total weight is also important because it determines how easy/difficult it is to travel in Europe. But if you can hardly load anything, it doesn't work, so you're absolutely right ...!
17 February 2018 - 20:54
Monet says:
Looking forward to you showing the smaller cars. Absolutely believe in such a market for those of us who do not travel with children, want to get around more easily in cities and villages and be able to park centrally. Plus we don't want to spend millions on a car that then plummets in value. Not fun!
17 February 2018 - 12:00
Helena says:
We will present a whole bunch of smaller motorhomes tomorrow! 🙂
17 February 2018 - 20:55
Goatfish says:
These are real luxury hotels, which travel on the roads 😀 Incredible! And what prices, it has become.
If I had ever owned a motorhome, it would have been quite small, but with a fresh interior.
But I always like to check, and there was a lot to look at in your post!
Happy Saturday!
17 February 2018 - 13:23
Helena says:
Haha, yes, a bit like luxury hotels 😉 The prices are high, we have to agree. There is of course a second-hand market as well, fortunately.
17 February 2018 - 20:56
Role o Carina says:
Nice cars the bigger ones but what prices too of course!
We like Adria, good cars and good equipment too 🙂 .
We chose the automatic gearbox in our new one, great!
Have a good time there.....
17 February 2018 - 14:15
Helena says:
We are also happy with our Adria, even though it has been through a lot by now... 😉.
17 February 2018 - 20:56
åsa in åsele says:
Incredibly expensive if the motorhome is used for a few weeks a year.
Actually, I have been completely against motorhomes, it feels uncomfortable to not be able to leave the "living room" at the campsite and explore the surrounding area by car, but I feel more and more that it would be convenient with a motorhome.
Now we are not out more than 10 - 15 days a year so no new purchases are planned 🙂 .
But as I said, motorhomes win in the long run 🙂 .
17 February 2018 - 14:18
Helena says:
While prices are high, many people probably use their motorhome for much more than a few weeks a year. Many people who buy a motorhome are retired and often spend several months a year on holiday. Whether a motorhome or a caravan is most convenient probably depends on how you want to spend your holiday, I think.
17 February 2018 - 20:58
BP says:
You don't seem to be completely satisfied with this year's fair, it seems. Since we probably won't be able to visit Caravan this year, we may not have missed too much.
I think the prices are steep considering the number of weeks you use a motorhome per year. Or maybe the manufacturers are targeting (wealthy) retirees who have sold their villas and are focusing on long journeys where comfort is the key.
17 February 2018 - 17:37
Helena says:
Yes, we are happy with the fair! As usual, we think there is a little too much focus on luxury and expensive cars, but maybe that's because we think so 😉 Tomorrow we show small cars 🙂 Too bad you can't make it to the fair by the way, had hoped to see you!
17 February 2018 - 20:59
Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
There are nice new motorhomes, but with their price tags, we would have to celebrate our holiday on the garage driveway if we bought one. Now we must cherish the one we have and plan for wonderful experiences in it....
(But watching is always fun and completely free).
17 February 2018 - 19:28
Helena says:
The price tags are hefty, so we do as you do right now. We will try to take care of our old motorhome and focus on experiences in it 😉.
17 February 2018 - 21:00
Ditte says:
There's a lot to choose from, so if you want a motorhome, you have to think about what suits your needs and budget.
And with possible tax increases, that could also be a factor in the election.
Nice to get a glimpse.
17 February 2018 - 22:54
Helena says:
Motorhomes don't come cheap. But there is of course a second-hand market too.
19 February 2018 - 7:23
Liniz Travel says:
There we really talk about luxury! Impressive in a motorhome as well!!!! Hugs
18 February 2018 - 13:39
Helena says:
It is incredibly luxurious and comfortable in many motorhomes 🙂 .
19 February 2018 - 7:24
Christine - 29°. says:
Wow, what motorhomes! Really nice and very luxurious. 🙂
But why so heavy, it doesn't feel like it makes things better. Aren't extra driving licences required when they become such heavy cars? Like a bus licence? Or maybe all motorhome owners have that anyway?
19 February 2018 - 5:01
Helena says:
You try to keep the weight down all the time, but it is always a challenge. There's a lot that goes into a motorhome, so it becomes heavy quite simply ... 😉 A B driving licence is enough for all motorhomes up to 3.5 tonnes and if you took your driving licence before -96 you can also drive the vast majority of heavier motorhomes as well (i.e. those registered as passenger cars, which most are).
19 February 2018 - 7:26
Lena - good for the soul says:
So many nice things, but so much money! And yes yes, illuminated bathroom door feels necessary. It's worth 15,000 just that 🙂 🙂 🙂
Hug Lena
