Travelling inspires home decoration
A new survey from Booking.com shows that more than half of travellers (56 %) are inspired to change their home décor after their holiday. Travellers are inspired by local design (44 %), sights and sounds such as colours and textiles (36 %), exploring a different culture (32 %) and visiting museums and other places of interest (20 %).
Four out of ten also think that interior design is the most important factor when choosing accommodation on holiday, with many choosing to rent a cottage or villa instead of staying in a hotel.
Easter holidays - where Swedes are travelling
"Last year's trend of big city holidays over Easter has given way this year - now it is once again sun and swimming that attracts Swedish travellers during the Easter holidays," says Katarina Daniels, PR and communications manager at Ticket. Gran Canaria increases by 73.4 per cent compared to last year and Bangkok's sharp increase confirms that Thailand has become a year-round destination. This is according to statistics from the travel agency Ticket. The top 5 Easter holidays:

World premiere at Preikestolen?
The Preikestolen mountain plateau is one of Norway's most popular tourist destinations, and now it is becoming even more famous, according to VisitNorway. This summer, the film Mission Impossible Fallout will premiere, with Tom Cruise once again playing the lead role of Ethan Hunt.
One of the film's major scenes takes place at Preikestolen, and in the new trailer, Tom Cruise can be seen hanging off the side of the mountain and holding on for dear life. Now, enthusiasts in Norway are pushing to arrange the world premiere of the film on the cliff. How that goes remains to be seen ...
Automatic gates at the security checkpoint
Swedavia is now introducing automatic entry gates at security checks at airports around the country. According to Swedavia, self-service will help reduce queues and optimise terminal space. The gates were inaugurated last week in the large security checkpoint in Terminal 5 at Arlanda. The week before, Göteborg Landvetter Airport installed its first automated gate, and more will be installed in the country during the year.
Estonia celebrated its 100th anniversary
On Saturday, Estonia celebrated 100 years of nationhood. In the capital city Tallinn The celebrations included a military parade and raising the country's flag over the castle in the Old Town. Until 100 years ago, Estonia and its Baltic neighbours Lithuania and Latvia were part of Russia. However, independence has been jeopardised several times since then and after a long period of Soviet rule, the nation proclaimed its independence again in 1991.

Agree that the Canary Islands are a good destination in winter. Reasonable flight time, good climate and not too expensive.

I can probably agree that I get a little extra interior design inspiration after travelling. I think it's about getting some distance from everyday life and giving creativity space.
But oh, Preikestolen. It is on my wish list, but now it is probably just to forget. If there have been a lot of people there before, it will probably be hysterical later!
Have a great start to the week!

I have heard that there were a lot of people at Preikestolen even before, so it might start to get a bit crowded there 😉 But it does look dramatic and beautiful!

Depending on where I'm travelling, I tend to be inspired by interiors. Half of my interiors at home probably come from travelling abroad, hehe.
A possible film premiere ON the Pulpit Rock itself sounds a bit wild. I reckon that many people would be interested in attending!

Fun with a home that reminds you of different trips 🙂 Maybe the idea of the film premiere on Preikestolen is too wild, it remains to be seen 😉.

Arlanda terminal 4 and Landvetter had automatic entry gates already last autumn? Or is it something even more new? Instead of showing your ticket to a human, you just scan it and go through barriers to get to the security checkpoint....

I can't say for sure Alexandra, but this is what Swedavia's website says: https://www.swedavia.se/arlanda/nyheter/swedavia-fortsatter-utvecklingen-av-sjalvbetjaningstjanster/#gref

Hm, yes it sounds a bit strange. Because when Stella and I were in Gothenburg during the autumn holidays, we scanned our boarding pass to go to the security check!

I have used check-in machines at Kastrup. But I think we still need lots of them at airports for check-in.

It was a bit of a surprise to me that I was inspired by travelling abroad and making changes at home.
Gran Canaria is a safe bet all year round, so...
I have a colleague who is half-Estonian. Her children go to the Estonian school in Gamla Stan. The 100th anniversary was widely celebrated there. Last year it was Finland that celebrated 100 years, and now Estonia. Fun:-)

Sure, you get inspired to buy interior design details when you're travelling, but sometimes fabrics and other things don't look as good at home as you think when you're standing in a colourful market in a faraway country....
