What better way to spend a Happy Friday than planning this year's motorhome trips? We have two really exciting motorhome trips coming up this year. At the end of April, we're off to Ireland where we'll be travelling around for two weeks by motorhome. At the beginning of July, we will be travelling in Europe for three months. Hope you'll follow the blog!
Motorhome holidays in Ireland
At the end of April we fly to Dublin, Ireland, for a two-week tour in a rented motorhome. This is a trip we are doing in collaboration with the Irish Tourist Board, and it will be really exciting. None of us have been to Ireland before, and it is a country we are incredibly curious about.
The plan is primarily to see the west coast, but also the north coast and Belfast in Northern Ireland. Peter has done a lot of research and found lots of fabulous pictures of "The Wild Atlantic Way" that runs along the coast. Wow, we say!
Don't miss following us on the blog during the trip - as usual, we'll be sharing our experiences with a post every morning! We will report on roads, campsites, prices and everything else worth knowing for those who want to camp or road trip in Ireland.
3-month motorhome trip in Europe
If everything goes as planned, we are planning a three-month campervan trip in Europe starting at the beginning of July. I (Helena) currently have a project position that ends at the end of June, and that way we can get the opportunity to go. The plan is to rent out the houseboat and to earn some income during the trip, for example by writing articles for various newspapers. The planning is in full swing!
So where should we go? The route is not fully planned, but our living room is filled with maps and brochures. The goal is to "look for the hidden gems" in areas where we haven't been before. The plan may change a few times, but right now we're looking at a route that would take us through eastern Germany, western Czech Republic, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Italy, eastern France, Switzerland and Belgium.
Happy Friday
There's nothing better than travel planning, so this is our contribution to Happy Friday! What has been the best part of your week?

Ruth in Virginia says:
Unfortunately, it's been a boring week - all about those 17
the teenagers, who were shot dead on Valentine's Day, and the
discussions: '"This will NOT happen again". Yea, right!
On Wednesday we had record heat for the date - 27 C!
Right now - midnight Thursday-Friday is 6C !
One thing we have here is WEATHER! 🙂
Hope you'll catch up over the weekend. I certainly don't want you to
are getting worn out. - Looking forward to travelling to Ireland. Have not visited
that island. Good night!

How terribly awful with these school shootings! There will always be young people who are unstable, they should NOT have access to weapons like this. Ugh, heavy to think about. Wish you a nice weekend!

Across the board says:
We have not visited Ireland but it seems to be an exciting country. We have friends who have stayed in B&Bs and driven a motorbike there. If you go to Italy, we can recommend a visit to Saturnia and a bath in the springs there. http://fajersson.blogspot.se/2009/06/16-juni.html
Good luck with the planning

Wonderful plans! Have only been to Dublin in Ireland, but was at a story evening last autumn where our friends showed pictures and told about road trips in Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way and it is clearly on the list! Exciting with the long trip too. We start two months earlier, and will move in approx. the same countries for four months.
23 February 2018 - 7:33

Oh, so many fun and exciting things to look forward to! It will really be fun to follow you on the trip to Ireland, a country that I am curious about.
I myself am starting to long for our Rome trip which will be in mid-March, it is not so far away now...! The best thing that happened to me this week is probably my salary interview with my boss, as I got SO much positive to me and appreciation for the work I (and my two colleagues) put in the time I worked at my new workplace. It made me so happy!
23 February 2018 - 9:09
Helena says:
Glad you want to follow our trip to Ireland Ninnie! Rome is a fantastic city that we fell in love with when we were there in September. You will have a wonderful trip! And how wonderful with such a good salary discussion at work. Have a nice weekend!

We have Irish motorhome neighbours here. Then I have seen the campaign of the Irish Tourist Board on fb. Great pictures from the green island. Sounds like fun round trips ahead for you. We come home in the middle of May...then it will soon be time for you to roll...?
23 February 2018 - 9:13
Helena says:
I have missed that campaign on FB actually, but we have still looked at many wonderful pictures from Ireland 🙂 We will probably come home from Ireland in the middle of May, but maybe we have time to say hello at home in Sweden before we go on a long trip? 🙂
23 February 2018 - 12:16
Solan says:
A quick trip is never wrong... Just got back from a spontaneous meeting at the village pub. Life is travelling...

Ireland is SO nice. Made a road trip there in 1998. If you had the blog at that time, I would have had lots of tips on nice castles and beautiful road sections, dramatic lighthouses, etc. for you. But as it is now, I only have a lot of pictures in my head and do not remember the names of the places.
But you have to ride there.
The long journey sounds great too!
23 February 2018 - 9:50
Helena says:
Great that you made a road trip in Ireland Gunilla! I recognise that with travel destinations you visited before the blog. You have no idea about the names of places. The blog is good for memory 😉
23 February 2018 - 12:23
Ama de casa says:
Oooo... Motorhome in Ireland? (Here came the coward again...) We drove around there in the summer of 2013 (rental car) and the roads were in some places very narrow. Also left-hand traffic on it... But it was absolutely wonderful to travel around there with lots of things to check out. You (who are not cowards) will have an absolutely fantastic time in the motorhome there 🙂.
The best part of the week was that we had two fantastic skiing days in Sierra Nevada and three lovely evenings in Granada 🙂.
23 February 2018 - 9:55
Helena says:
My colleague who comes from Ireland has also talked about narrow and winding roads ... but it will probably solve you 😉 Sounds great with skiing! 🙂
23 February 2018 - 12:45
Anna, Travel on a Cloud says:
Oh, Ireland! It has been on my list for a long time but I haven't travelled there yet. It will be exciting to follow!
Great with the summer motorhome trip too. It sounds like perfect timing after your project employment, Helena.
The best part of the week comes this weekend. Then me and two of my sons will go to The Killers in Globen. 🙂

Anette Åhnbrink says:
Of course we follow you on the blog! It was great to talk to you at the fair? And we hope you have good trips with lots of pictures and tips for us here at home! Did Peter go to any Greek meeting?! The best of the week was probably the sunny day we had in Varberg☀️Nu Varberg☀️Nu We will soon start working seriously, so now there will be no motorhome driving for a couple of months....
23 February 2018 - 10:07
Helena says:
Likewise, great to see you! Peter went to the Panorama fair, but there was a strange misunderstanding, so no meeting... Have a nice weekend, before the work band starts in earnest!
23 February 2018 - 15:31
Ditte says:
Fun with travel planning! And you are well on your way. Ireland is exciting and I would love to go back there. Is probably 20 years since I was there. fun also with a long trip in Europe this summer.
The best of the week? Nice summer weather in Spain and enjoyable days and a good offer from Finnair to make our Beijing trip in March fairly comfortable.
23 February 2018 - 11:11
Helena says:
Great that you have nice weather in Spain and so good to hear eighteen found good tickets to China! 🙂
23 February 2018 - 15:32

That sounds exciting! ?

Ireland, the British Isles and then I think of Shettland in the first place I would like to visit, it is the barren, rocky nature that attracts me 🙂 .
By the way, the best thing this week is: the medical staff in our neighbourhood.
23 February 2018 - 12:34
Helena says:
I would also like to visit Shetland! And how nice with good medical staff! Have a nice weekend!

23 February 2018 - 15:35
BP says:
Ireland sounds really exciting. I have not visited the country either, so it will be great to ride free with you. Will be fun to see how it will feel for Peter to drive a motorhome with a steering wheel on the "wrong" side;-)
Three months in Europe during the summer sounds great too. However, I would skip (dirty) Belgium and focus on nice, beautiful and clean Holland instead.
23 February 2018 - 15:51
Helena says:
Peter has actually driven a campervan in NZ, so he's tried driving on the wrong side. It went reasonably well ... except when we were driving up single-lane bridges. Then when he was getting off, he accidentally drove off to the wrong side ... (But was quickly reminded by honking!) We'll see how it goes in Holland 🙂.
24 February 2018 - 17:41

We have also planned to spend the weekend planning and googling a bit for our motorhome trip in May. Not as long as yours but in 6 weeks you can do a lot if you are in. I think Ireland is a great island and we have sometimes thought about a hiking trip there. Of course we follow you on the blog.
The best of the week is undoubtedly the day with my three girls at Asia Spa in Varberg.
23 February 2018 - 16:55
Helena says:
Great to plan a motorhome trip! 6 weeks is not bad either. How far have you come in the planning?

Ireland, different motorhome destination but certainly very interesting.
3 months with the motorhome, what a dream it would be for the owners to take me on such a trip. Of course, both me and the owners follow your travels.

Marianne - Glimpses of the world says:
It's going to be two exciting journeys! I have been to Ireland once, when I was in Dublin and on a day trip to the northern coast of Northern Ireland. The Giant's Causeway is an incredibly fascinating place, and I can also recommend a visit to the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge.
Yesterday, a friend and I spontaneously booked a 24-hour stay at a spa hotel outside Oslo, so the best thing about Happy Friday is that I'm really looking forward to going there tomorrow!
23 February 2018 - 21:36
Helena says:
Many thanks for the tips Marianne! I picture googled these places and they look amazing! Have checked with Peter too and it seems that they are on his plan 😉 Lovely with spa!

Wow, how exciting. Looking forward to reading! My husband travelled along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way last year and it was apparently fantastic. I think there was a report in SAS magazine from that trip. We are planning a four-week European trip with the motorhome this summer, so now we have our ears pricked up for tips. No route has been decided yet. But I want some warmth, so we're heading south. But first there will be winter camping and skiing for a few days starting tomorrow. It is the first time. It will be exciting to see how we will keep the heat. It's supposed to be really cold...
24 February 2018 - 20:04
Evy Knoph says:
Lovely plans you have :-)! Yes, the left-hand traffic I got to know when I worked outside Newcastle 14/15...bitching stop in 7-armed roundabout when changing with the left hand...the most difficult was the distance to the curb, I thought...but you get used to it....
The best part of the week for me was probably that I booked a trip to New York and Toronto to see Depeche Mode there on 6 and 11 June :-). Will be the first time I visit Canada.
25 February 2018 - 3:41
Linda, resamedvetet.se says:
I'm glad your European plans are still going strong. I'm sure you'll find plenty of favourite places to visit.
