Join us on a "tour" as we check out camping stuff at Caravan Stockholm 2018! On the last day of the fair, we went on a tour to check out camping accessories and gadgets. You think almost always that there are too few accessories at the fairs, but we still found some interesting stuff.

Flexible Motorhome Tents
Who wants to spend a long time fiddling with an awning? Several tents were on display at the fair that fold up quickly and easily. Kampa motorhome tents are folded by pumping in air with a pump. One of the tents can also stand on its own, so you can unplug your campervan and go shopping without having to take the tent down. How convenient!
Another interesting tent solution was the Wecamp Quickstop. The motorhome tent is said to be assembled in a few minutes by installing four corner poles. Other pole parts are pre-assembled and integrated into the tent. The tent can be connected to the motorhome, but is free-standing so that you can close the rear wall at any time and drive away with the motorhome.
Cosy in the motorhome
At Kama Fritid you could look around and find everything from stylish glasses to cosy cushions. My favourite was the cosy traps that you can spread out in the camping chair. If you wanted help with customised carpets for your motorhome, you could also check out Stockholms Mattlangett, which is located on Norra Stationsgatan in Stockholm.
Colourful and smart
Already when shopping for food, you can sort it smartly in colourful shopping bags from Trolley Bags.
When it comes to cooking, you can do so in a colourful Lotus Grill. This grill looks almost like a small saucepan and can also be placed in the centre of the table if you wish. It uses lighting gel and charcoal in the base and if you're not satisfied with just grilling, you can (with a few accessories) do everything from frying eggs and bacon to baking pizza.
Tips for beginners
Are you new to motorhomes? Then you might want to check out The Motorhome Book, written by Susanne Ohlander and Torbjörn Lagerwall. The book tries to answer all the questions you might have as a newbie in a motorhome. What is grey water? Where do you spend the night? How do you get fresh water? How does the fridge work?
Canned
Last but not least, we looked at interesting things in cans. OxyG wastewater treatment contains a mixture of bacteria that performs a natural decomposition process without affecting nature. There are products for both the grey water tank and the toilet tank, and according to the sellers, these remove odours and grease, among other things.
Finally, we had a chance to get our shoes polished with Rena's Skin and Leather Conditioner, which of course can also be used for all leather in the motorhome.
Now we are a bit curious. Were you also at the fair? Did you find any interesting accessories...?
Travel Linda says:
A lot of stuff... We decided that as long as we didn't know we needed the thing before we saw it at the fair, there was probably no urgent need. We did some shopping in the map shop, picked up some brochures and checked out a lot of motorhomes, but came to the conclusion that we have the one that suits us best!
We went by the destination square as well, but there was "no one home" in some of the stands.

What a shame we didn't get to meet! We tried to stand in the booth as much as possible, but had to leave for lunch and stuff 😉.

The bags for the shopping basket were clever.

Many clever solutions 🙂

TipsThanks Freedom, we need to get a new campervan carpet for the "bedroom". North Station Street sounds convenient for us. Drain cleaning... ugh... but canned makes sense.
Very convenient to visit the fair on your mobile phone from Murcia ?
20 February 2018 - 10:05
Helena says:
How nice that we could bring the fair to you in Murcia! 🙂

We bought a silicone insert for the Omnia oven which seemed clever, just lift out and wash the insert.
The long-haired traps were very comfortable to sit on. We have bought our traps in Tranås skinnfabrik and they are cosy to sit on, both when it is hot and cold. Can be recommended.
Hugs

How nice with the silicone insert! The traps seem very cosy! 🙂

I love sheepskin and other furry skins 🙂 I have sheepskin indoors in the armchair and on the footstool... yes, that's me 😉.
The saucepan story seemed interesting, we cook in a caravan and the gas stove works great and there is a lot of grilling... but I do like kitchen gadgets 😀.
Thank you for a wonderful report 🙂
20 February 2018 - 13:26
Helena says:
I also like shaggy skins! Glad you enjoyed the report! 🙂

The lovely Lotus grills in these "happy colours" take the prize along with the motorhome book.
I've never understood the whole carpet thing, either in motorhomes or boats.
20 February 2018 - 16:16
Helena says:
The grills are super nice! 🙂 I like the carpet because it gets less cold on the floor (and it's hopeless to pick a regular carpet between all the angles and corners ;)).

Motorhome internship says:
After quite a few years as a motorhome traveller, you do everything you can to reduce the gadgets..... There will be very few new purchases, mostly improvements to the ones we have. Fun to see the new tents! A motorhome tent MUST be freestanding, very quick to set up and weigh like a mosquito. Otherwise it will simply never be used...
20 February 2018 - 17:08
Helena says:
We have a tent that takes time to put up and that you can't leave and I agree, it takes time to put it up ...

Husis blog says:
The first years I lived with the owners, I got a lot of new stuff all the time. It was just loaded in but never used. Last year my garage was sparse and only things that were used were allowed to come along. A lot of things were left up in the owners' attic in the house.
Last year I got a new grill, a Cobb grill that the owners really recommend. At Elmia, a gas plate was purchased that the owners can use outdoors if they are frying something that smells very strong.
I did not get to visit this fair on site but know that the owners followed it through your blog. Instead, I look forward to coming to Elmia after the summer.

Over time, you probably learn a little better what you really need and use. You don't want to drag stuff around unnecessarily ...

Matts Torebring says:
Wondering where the motorhome tent is located, when the car is gone and the wind lifts most of it away?
Ps. I just don't understand how you manage to keep up with work, lectures, your own stand, analyses of accessories and not least all the motorhomes and trailers and also answer all the blog posts. You must have a huge surplus of energy, right?
20 February 2018 - 18:28
Helena says:
Sometimes the energy runs out, even for us. Have fallen asleep extremely early some evenings 😉 But then this is so fun so then you want to continue again! 🙂

We make do with the awning to sit under! 🙂
Take care......

We don't usually use tents either. But during our European trip in 2015 we bought one to use as a training room 😉.

Daniel@finallylost says:
hello
All those gadgets you need and oh how you struggle with the total weight...
But of course we love all gadgets HaHa!!!! We've looked at awnings too, but an awning is probably quite enough. Have a wonderful time!
20 February 2018 - 21:17
Helena says:
The weight is a challenge! We usually find that we do well without a tent, but during our long European trip we bought one to train in 😉.

Mr Lars Permelin says:
I think the fair was like that. Clearly, Caravan Stockholm needs a much larger exhibition hall. I think that the Destination Square, which I think was a good new approach, should have been marked in a better way. The most interesting thing for me was the wastewater treatment agent from OxyG. I will use it next season. Bought all three components.
20 February 2018 - 21:28
Helena says:
For us, the fair was successful, but I agree that it could have been bigger. There were many big brands that were missing. I also like the idea of the destination square, but it could definitely be developed and improved.
21 February 2018 - 8:55
åsa in åsele says:
I think the thing I have most against motorhomes is that when you have to move for an hour or so and need to take the motorhome from the campsite, everything has to be picked up... it's a lot of packing and unpacking.
Because leaving a "light" awning without direct anchoring seems risky and the same with chairs/tables etc.
But it's me...
21 February 2018 - 7:12
Helena says:
This is the usual argument against motorhomes (in favour of caravans). I think it can be true if you want to stay in the same place for a long time and go away from time to time with the car. Then a caravan might be a good fit. We usually stay only two or three nights per place and do not drive anywhere during that time. Many have also brought bicycles or mopeds. Then it probably depends on what needs and wishes you have!
21 February 2018 - 8:57
Weavers says:
Sitting with the catalogue and about to place an order for the delivery of FrankieBoy. But we will wait with the tent. And probably a lot more, now that we have gone through the sale of everything we own, it takes time to buy gadgets actually. Interesting 🙂

Lena - good for the soul says:
I have thought of a disadvantage of a motorhome compared to a caravan, that you are not so mobile if you stay in one place for a long time. A tent that you can disconnect to go away temporarily must be the dream.
