It was Friday again! One of the best things this week is that Peter went to a super exciting meeting in Gothenburg. This meeting can lead to really interesting things for you as a reader, but we'll come back to that later. Instead, today we'll be posting pictures of artistic sushi, authentic Mexican food and clothes sewn in Vietnam. Happy Friday!
Table of contents
Best sushi!
At the beginning of the week we didn't have time to shop for food, so we indulged ourselves with takeaway sushi from MGL Sushi in Bromma. It is a small detour for us to drive there, but soooo worth it!
Real Mexican food
Last Wednesday evening, my research group (which I am only half-associated with nowadays) met at the home of our research group leader for a Mexican cookery evening. One of the group is of Mexican descent and brought "real" Mexican recipes. There were almost 15 of us in the kitchen cooking. very many dishes. It's safe to say it was chaotic for a while, but fascinatingly, it all ended with a fantastic buffet.
I can't account for half of the dishes on the buffet table, but we made quesadillas (fried double tortilla bread with filling) with bean sauce, and fish tacos with pickled red onion. Our "guide" in the Mexican jungle also mixed his own dough and fried homemade tortillas filled with feta cheese, among other things.
Finally, we were served Bangladeshi pastries brought by one of the group, who is from Bangladesh. Then we rolled home, more or less... A great evening!
Vietnamese clothing
After we wrote our post on Hoi An in Vietnam and the tailors there, several (well, two) readers wanted us to show the clothes we had made. We made quite a few, but the years have passed and we don't have much left. It can be perhaps because they didn't have any stretch fabrics and I had quite tight dresses and tops made, but just maybe ...
I made some silk dresses and tops, a Vietnamese holiday outfit and a pair of linen trousers (which I still have). Peter sewed several pairs of trainers (!) which he was very happy with and worked hard on his health. We also sewed up a jacket each, and we still have these!
Happy Friday!
So with some exotic food and exotic clothes, we wish you a very happy Friday! Now it's your turn - what has been the best part of your week?

Don't have much positive to say at the moment so I'll keep my mouth shut 😉.
Thank you for a post that made me forget about reality a bit.
Mexican food is an almost unexplored area, well except for tacos then 😉.
Have a nice Friday and a good weekend <3

The best part of the week is still to come. Tonight we go up to Piteå and try the new design and spa hotel there. It's called Kust.
Piteå has become a bit of the capital of Norrland in terms of holiday resorts, weekends etc. and this is the latest addition.

Helena says:
Oh how exciting! Wishing nice spa weekend in Piteå then! 🙂

There were super exciting plans and really nice colourful pictures today, Friday!
Your Vietnamese jacket, Helena, was so delicious! 😀
My excitement this week is that I'm gearing up for my trip to Chicago next week, and on Wednesday I got my US paws fixed with a flag on my ring fingers.
Enjoy!

The best thing about the week is probably my Friday off 😉 Joking aside, I've had a good week at work too - not many sad faces there! Fun to cook together, it's always a bit special.
23 March 2018 - 10:06
Helena says:
It is not so often you cook together so many, but fun! 🙂

After the most horrible thing I have experienced in my entire life, the positive thing is that it went as well as it did.
Have a nice Friday!

Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
Here it is everyday life with cooking with the men one day a week. And that I have baked two loaves of bread too. I would never go backwards. But no more difficult than mechanising a car!
23 March 2018 - 11:22
Helena says:
Nice comparison with the car 😉 (I, Helena, can unfortunately neither bake nor build a car ... ;))

What an exciting week! And extra fun with Gothenburg and what comes out of it.
The best thing this week is that we are in Beijing and with extra "everything".
23 March 2018 - 11:43
Helena says:
"Extra everything" in Beijing does not sound stupid! 🙂 Have fun!

The best part of this week is right now; a long holiday weekend Friday-Monday, with nothing planned.
Great food pictures. We also cooked together with our colleagues from Iran, Iraq and the Balkans. We hired a school kitchen and made a great buffet.
Mexican food sounds good (We have just booked a couple of November weeks in Mexico).
My sewn-up clothes from Vietnam were also not sewn in stretch, so they are no longer in the wardrobe....
23 March 2018 - 12:12
Helena says:
It sounds exciting with food from Iran, Iraq and the Balkans! 🙂 Stretch has its advantages, one must say ... otherwise we were very happy with the clothes we sewed up in Vietnam!

Maria says:
Oh what a nice jacket Helena! ? Isn't it strange that clothes shrink with time otherwise...? Have a nice weekend!
23 March 2018 - 13:36
Helena says:
Yes haha, it must be the clothes that shrunk ... 😉 Have a nice weekend!

Mexican food - yummy! We made quesadillas just yesterday, a funny coincidence:-)
The jackets are incredibly nice. Seems to be good quality on them, as they are still in perfect condition after 11 years. Good there!
It will be exciting to hear about your "Gothenburg project".

Anna, Travel on a Cloud says:
Oh, so much good food! My mouth is watering just looking at the pictures.
Haha, laughed at "just maybe". But so cool to even be able to get sneakers sewn up. Nice jackets!
My best? Hm, maybe that there is now only EXACTLY one month left until I'm back in my beloved New York. More specifically: that our newly renovated bathroom is finally ready and we are soooo happy. 🙂

Lena - good for the soul says:
How exciting to taste genuine food from different countries like that. It never gets really good in restaurants that try. Like in the USA when I asked what Swedish pancakes were and they explained "lingonberries you know..." Eeehh, how many people eat lingonberries with pancakes?! 🙂
Nice clothes!
Hug Lena
