In Gothenburg and Stockholm, only 11 and 9 per cent respectively planned to spend the same amount. The people of Skåne like to stay in boutique hotels, spend money on shopping and nightclubs and are interested in customised trips. The 5 top travel destinations with scheduled flights:

Campaign for Swedish tourism to the UK
The UK tourism organisation VisitBritain has recently launched a marketing campaign to encourage more Swedes to visit the UK. The digital campaign "JAG RESERVATION FOR..." is being launched on Facebook and Instagram.
The campaign hopes to encourage Swedes to experience new things in the UK, such as kayaking in the River Stour on the south coast, London's hidden tropical greenhouses, stargazing at the Dark Sky Observatory on the Scottish border or camping in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales.

Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
It's perhaps fortunate that we plan our Croatia trip in May before the invasion of holidaymakers arrives.
We also plan to visit the upstart Montenegro.
Luckily, we no longer have to plan trips after school holidays and can avoid the high season as much as possible.

Strange that the people of Skåne spend so much more on travelling than the people of Stockholm and Gothenburg. It would be interesting to know why this is the case.
I am pleased that Greece has caught up with Spain. The country's economy is pretty shitty, so the Greeks need all the "tourist dollars" they can get.
School holidays are generally more expensive. This is when travel agencies, airlines and hotels take the opportunity to raise prices. So what is cheap is quite relative.

I don't know why the people of Skåne are travelling more, but it could be because of good connections. The press release also speculated on whether people with a tendency to travel choose to settle in Skåne?

Read statistics one day from Germany that Greece was number one and had passed Spain for the first time. Thomas Cook stated that Greece was No. 2 in the number of bookings. Would be nice to see some comparative statistics between how different countries travel!

I can imagine that there are some differences in how different countries travel! There are traditions about different places you travel to, and they are not the same. Comparison would be interesting!

Interesting about the travelling habits of the people of Skåne, I wonder what the reason is? Perhaps we can help raise the percentage for us Scanians?. Croatia is so beautiful, so it's easy to understand. Is hooked on the Balkans, so it will be Albania for us this summer. / Pernilla

Helena says:
Haha, you certainly help to increase the percentage! 😉 One reason may well be that it is a little closer to Europe and perhaps there are good connections. In the press release, they also speculated about whether people who are willing to travel choose to settle in Skåne?
