Hot new destinations and a major focus on Albania

We are now back home after our trip to Morocco, so we take the opportunity to squeeze in some travel news before it is time for our big summary post about Agadir. Today we can tell you about new hot destinations for the summer and about Apollo's major investment in Albania. Other news is about the new hotel concept "Cook's Club" and how we will be guided at the T-centre with the help of Augmented Reality.

This summer's hot new destinations

Swedes are curious to find new destinations for their summer holidays, and according to Resia, there is a growing interest in new resorts on the Greek mainland and in Albania. These new hot destinations do not yet climb up on any 10 in the top lists, but can suit you who want to see something new. Here are some of the new hot destinations:

  • Greece: Olympic Riviera and Zagoria
  • Croatia: Biograd riviera
  • Albania: Durres riviera, Himara and Dhermi

Apollo invests heavily in Albania

In May, Apollo will be the first tour operator in Scandinavia to start flying directly to Europe. Albania. The decision is based, among other things, on a survey they commissioned, which shows that as many as seven out of ten Swedes would consider travelling to Albania. The main reasons for travelling to Albania are:

  1. It is an affordable option
  2. Natural beauty with high mountains and unspoilt beaches
  3. The combination of exciting history + sun and swimming

Ving launches Cook's Club

Ving presents a new hotel concept called "Cook's Club". According to Ving, this new concept is aimed at "today's modern travellers where design, food and drink are in focus". The first hotel opens in June and is located in Hersonissons, Crete. The heart of the hotel is the pool area and in the hotel's restaurant, Cantina, the world's street food will mix with healthy vegan food and local classic dishes such as moussaka and gyros.

Emirates updates its spirits offer

In all classes, the airline Emirates has updated its range of spirits. The new spirits menu consists of a comprehensive range of 30 new spirits and liqueurs, which complement over 80 fine wines, including champagne. 

All spirits such as whiskey, brandy, gin, vodka and flavoured liqueurs are served free of charge on board in all classes and routes. The most popular in Economy Class is Jack Daniel's whiskey, while First Class passengers prefer Chivas Royal Salute whiskey, aged for 21 years.

Augmented reality guides SJ's travellers

Using the technology Augmented Reality (AR) will now make it easier for SJ's travellers to find the right route to and from the train, for example. On 17 April, SJ started testing the new function VägvisARen in the SJ Labs app. Initially, the test function is available at the central station in Stockholm.
