This summer's hot new destinations
Swedes are curious to find new destinations for their summer holidays, and according to Resia, there is a growing interest in new resorts on the Greek mainland and in Albania. These new hot destinations do not yet climb up on any 10 in the top lists, but can suit you who want to see something new. Here are some of the new hot destinations:
- Greece: Olympic Riviera and Zagoria
- Croatia: Biograd riviera
- Albania: Durres riviera, Himara and Dhermi
Apollo invests heavily in Albania
In May, Apollo will be the first tour operator in Scandinavia to start flying directly to Europe. Albania. The decision is based, among other things, on a survey they commissioned, which shows that as many as seven out of ten Swedes would consider travelling to Albania. The main reasons for travelling to Albania are:
- It is an affordable option
- Natural beauty with high mountains and unspoilt beaches
- The combination of exciting history + sun and swimming
Ving launches Cook's Club
Ving presents a new hotel concept called "Cook's Club". According to Ving, this new concept is aimed at "today's modern travellers where design, food and drink are in focus". The first hotel opens in June and is located in Hersonissons, Crete. The heart of the hotel is the pool area and in the hotel's restaurant, Cantina, the world's street food will mix with healthy vegan food and local classic dishes such as moussaka and gyros.
Emirates updates its spirits offer
In all classes, the airline Emirates has updated its range of spirits. The new spirits menu consists of a comprehensive range of 30 new spirits and liqueurs, which complement over 80 fine wines, including champagne.
All spirits such as whiskey, brandy, gin, vodka and flavoured liqueurs are served free of charge on board in all classes and routes. The most popular in Economy Class is Jack Daniel's whiskey, while First Class passengers prefer Chivas Royal Salute whiskey, aged for 21 years.
Augmented reality guides SJ's travellers
Using the technology Augmented Reality (AR) will now make it easier for SJ's travellers to find the right route to and from the train, for example. On 17 April, SJ started testing the new function VägvisARen in the SJ Labs app. Initially, the test function is available at the central station in Stockholm.

We are going to Saranda in a month and it will be so interesting. I hope we will like it and want to go back. The northern part of the country really appeals to me so maybe it will be in the autumn.

That was an interesting post. Glad that Apollo is investing in Albania, which is one of the poorest countries in Europe. Some new income and jobs there. Great!
Laughing at Emirates extended liquor outlet. I mean Muslims can't even drink alcohol, but the rest of us can...;-)
23 April 2018 - 13:40
Helena says:
Isn't it interesting with Emirates' huge range of alcohol! We have just flown with AirArabia, which instead is completely alcohol-free.

Fun with Albania as a newcomer. We had thought of Montenegro and northern Albania on our Croatia trip, but it turned out that we are not allowed to drive our motorhome (>3500 kg) with a B licence in those countries. We will see how we solve it. There is a rental car in the worst case...?

Helena says:
What, is it true? Where did you find this information? I need to read more about this.

Not me either! I have read through the driving rules on Motormännen, but there is nothing about this (as far as I can find). If you are a member of Motormännen maybe you can contact them? How sad if it is like this, it will be difficult for many then ...
