When we landed in Agadir, Morocco on Tuesday night, we went straight to Taghazout Bay and the Hyatt Place hotel. We were a little too tired to be impressed by the grand entrance. However, what impressed us was our large balcony facing the pools and the beach.
When we pulled open the sliding doors in the middle of the night, we were greeted by a gently lit pool area with tall palm trees, soft North African heat and the soothing sound of waves rolling in to the beach.

Taghazout Bay
Taghazout Bay is located along the Moroccan coast, just north of the coastal city of Agadir. Along the long sandy beach, a holiday paradise is being built with hotels, resorts, pools and restaurants. So far, there is quite a lot that is not yet finished, but the luxurious Hyatt Place hotel is complete, as is the fine golf resort that is just next door. Everything being built around it is scheduled for completion in 2020.
Hotel Hyatt Place
The Hyatt Place hotel on Taghazout Bay has over 150 rooms and suites and 20 self-contained villas, each of which can accommodate six adults. The hotel has a restaurant, bar, pools, gym and spa, which also offers a hammam.
Our room at the Hyatt Hotel
Our room is large and spacious, including a shower area that is larger than our entire bathroom in our houseboat... The best part is the large balcony overlooking the pool area!
Own horticulture
One thing we like about this hotel is the small garden where they grow things like lettuce, chives, rosemary, aubergine and radishes. The vegetables and herbs are then used in the restaurant - nice!
Hotel breakfast
You can not write about a hotel without mentioning the hotel breakfast, at least not if you like me (Helena) love breakfast. The breakfast buffet felt fresh, and there was most of what you usually want. Curious as we are, we gave ourselves the first morning on what looked most exotic: different kinds of Moroccan pancakes and dates among other things. Good, but oh how sweet! In the future, it might be sandwiches or yoghurt for us ...
Location of the hotel
The Hyatt Place Hotel at Taghazout Bay is a great place to stay if you want to be secluded and enjoy the pool, beach and perhaps golf. You can easily take a shuttle bus or taxi to nearby restaurants or resorts, but it's not walking distance. If you want to stay "where everything happens", it is probably better to choose a hotel in the centre of Agadir. At least for now. It remains to be seen what it looks like along Taghazout Bay in a year or so!
Did we just hang out at the hotel?
We haven't had much time at all to hang out at the hotel. Lite It's a shame because it looks quite inviting to relax in the pools, one of which is also nicely heated. On the other hand, we have had a lot of interesting adventures in the 33-degree heat - everything from a colourful market to a local restaurant. park with over 300 crocodiles.

But oh how wonderful! Longing so crazy for sun and heat! How nice it looks. Maybe something for a future trip.

Exciting about Morocco. You seem to live very nicely. But as I said, usually you don't have time to spend much time at the hotel when you are travelling. You want to see as much as possible. Enjoy your trip!

Helena says:
Absolutely true! You want to see more than the hotel at your destination 😉.

I am soooo keen on Morocco, even before I read this post 😉 I am perhaps most keen on hiking in the Atlas Mountains but a combo with a little sun holiday would be ..... ahhh so wonderful! 🙂

Often you will see more on a group trip than if you organise it yourself.

The hotel looks very luxurious. Just waking up to the sound of waves is worth staying near the sea. The distance to Agadir is a bit too far if you want to holiday there for more than a few days as you do. We found an apartment hotel in the centre of town and by the water.
I am now looking forward to your next adventure in Morocco.
19 April 2018 - 21:15
Helena says:
I agree! If you want to "do the city" in Agadir during the days/evenings, it may be better to stay in Agadir itself. There are a lot of hotels to choose from there!

Ditte says:
The hotel looks very nice but on the other hand, it is not where you spend your time if you are visiting for a few days. Can imagine that you have short times.
Looking forward to reading more about what you experience and see - I was not exactly fond of Agadir, but travelled on my own and it is a big difference. And not easy to do it as a single woman in the early 2000s.
19 April 2018 - 23:20
Helena says:
I'm sorry that travelling here as a single woman didn't feel good! You can hope that it has improved, but we have travelled in a group, so it is impossible for us to say.
