In co-operation with e-Boks
For many, many years we have been complaining about how complicated it is to take care of the mail when travelling. When we received a request to test a digital mailbox for government mail, we were quick to jump on board! Now it is time for us to test the digital mailbox e-Boks.
Table of contents
We have missed this!
Without really knowing what it is we have been missing, we have been missing a digital mailbox for a long time. It was worst during our 1 year long journey around Europe. Then we had to ask our tenants to send our mail to Peter's son, who then had to open the letters and try to email the contents to us. Really not a smooth solution. Before that, we also had problems when we tried to organise things by paying things in advance, but have not been able to. A digital mailbox must be soooo much smarter.
Digital mailbox for government mail
The digital mailbox e-Boks receives mail from public authorities and municipalities, such as the Swedish Companies Registration Office, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Swedish Tax Agency, the Swedish Transport Agency and many others. You can also choose to receive mail from the private senders you want, such as banks or employers. You simply tick off a list, or do a simple search.
What can you use e-Boks for?
We are completely new to this with digital mailbox and e-Boks so we do not have full control yet, but we have at least understood that you can do the following things:
- Receive mail from authorities and municipalities digitally
- Receive mail from other selected senders digitally (e.g. banks or employers).
- Responding directly to mail from authorities and other senders
- Signing documents and contracts digitally
- Upload important documents, such as passports and driving licences, so that they are always available in a safe place.
- Collect digital receipts from card payments by connecting to "Storebox".
- Create multi-level folders for structure
As the registration in e-Boks is linked to the personal identity number, there is no need to worry about emails stopping coming because you move or change your email address.
How does it work to use e-Boks?
Some of the things that seem good about e-Boks are that it is free, ad-free and good for the environment. Do you also want to try e-Boks? Then you can easily register at e-Boks online. You can also download the app called e-Boks.se. All you need is a mobile bank ID to identify yourself.
Let's test e-Boks!
We like the idea of e-Boks, but now it's time to prove it! We are planning to travel with the motorhome in Europe for two months this summer, and we hope to be able to use this service then. We'll report back once we've tested it. What do you do when travelling? Do you get your mail to a digital mailbox or do you have another solution?

Smart it sounds! 😀

Helena says:
We think it seems smart too 🙂

Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
The idea sounds very good. I look forward to hearing your evaluation. We also had some problems when we were away a little too long and had to use Lars' daughter to open and pay bills. Thankfully, it is easy to transfer money, but if the e-book works, it will be much easier.
06 June 2018 - 20:37
Helena says:
Then you have done something similar to us! Now we hope for a simpler solution 🙂

Anna / Boihusbil says:
We use Kivra and have done so for a very long time. I think it works well. And no matter which service you use, it is indispensable, I think 🙂 .
06 June 2018 - 20:40
Helena says:
Whichever service you use, a digital mailbox seems very practical!
07 June 2018 - 22:21
Across the board says:
We have Kivra and direct debit. We have also "nixed" direct mail to further minimise mail. Seems to work well.
06 June 2018 - 20:53
Helena says:
If you are going away for a long time, it is easy to avoid a lot of advertising as well, so nix sounds smart!
07 June 2018 - 22:22
Kenneth Risberg says:
I've been using Kivra since it arrived and e-invoices directly to my bank and now direct debit. Everything digital and you avoid paper invoices and admin fees.
06 June 2018 - 21:17
Helena says:
You were quick! We have been a bit slow to catch up, even though we really need this! 😉
07 June 2018 - 22:22
BP says:
Sounds great! Now we only receive letters from the tax authorities with a tax return. Otherwise, we do not receive any mail from authorities. Most invoices are treated as e-invoices that come up when you log in to the bank. But as I said, if you have a lot of contact with authorities, the idea is great!
06 June 2018 - 21:19
Helena says:
But how nice that you manage to avoid mail from authorities! 🙂 We probably get some in connection with our business sometimes ...
07 June 2018 - 22:23
Ditte says:
We have Kivra as a digital mailbox and have had it for quite a while. Works very well and costs nothing. And the bills are on direct debit. Since we are away so much, it must all work smoothly.
We hope you will be satisfied with this service.
06 June 2018 - 22:01
Helena says:
It sounds like you have come up with great solutions! We were a bit slow to pick up on this, but now we're hoping it will help us ðŸ™'
07 June 2018 - 22:25
TravelAnna says:
It seems like a smart concept! Especially the part where you can sign documents and agreements. Hope you get great use of it the next time you go.
However, we do not usually go on long journeys, so the need has not arisen, but I can imagine that the service is particularly suitable then. For our part, it works well with someone emptying the physical mailbox. 🙂
I can't believe your summer holiday is coming up, by the way. How exciting!
06 June 2018 - 22:53
Helena says:
A service like this can be handy even when you're at home! But especially when travelling, it feels extra important 😉.
07 June 2018 - 22:27
woolly says:
direct debit or prepayment and so we have done but otherwise smoothly with what you have, I think.
06 June 2018 - 23:14
Helena says:
We have also tried prepayment on occasion. Often it has worked well, but once we had huge problems. We paid about SEK 5 too little on our phone bill, and when we got home the subscription was cancelled ...!

Netti Starby says:
What a smart idea and great tips! 😀 Hugs
07 June 2018 - 6:39
Helena says:
We'll get back to you when we've tested it 🙂

Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
We have been using Kivra Sweden's largest digital mailbox for many years.
07 June 2018 - 8:30
Helena says:
You were faster than us to adopt this kind of smart solution! 🙂
07 June 2018 - 22:29
Ama de casa says:
Direct debit, e-invoices and Kivra. Our mailbox here in the house is ridiculously small so minimising paper letters is important.
07 June 2018 - 9:56
Helena says:
Nice to get rid of all the paper letters too! 🙂
07 June 2018 - 22:30
travelling Linda says:
Sounds good. We have had Kivra for a long time and receive all invoices directly in the internet bank. Hope more people join Kivra, such as our bank so we get that mail electronically too. Have nixed us for unwanted mail in two places and have "advertising-no thanks" on the mailbox. It seems to work well. Now that we are on a long holiday, we have redirected the mail to relatives and get a report on what has arrived once a week and they open it if necessary.
Is a lot to think about if you want to travel for a long time and even if it works, I would prefer not to burden others because we are travelling.
07 June 2018 - 18:38
Helena says:
It sounds like you have thought it through and planned well! I think it applies to all such digital mailboxes that you want more people to join. In any case, I found my bank on e-Boks 🙂
07 June 2018 - 22:32
Emma, sun like sun? says:
It will be really exciting to hear how it works for you. We jumped on Kivra when it arrived so it has worked well for us who are abroad. Unfortunately, not all companies are connected to it, it seems that E-Boks is broader.
08 June 2018 - 8:03
Helena says:
It will take a while before all companies are connected to these services, but it will happen. It feels like this is the future!
17 July 2018 - 7:45
Eva says:
But how smart yes more and more will probably be so in the future nice pictures and nice weekend hugs
08 June 2018 - 10:02
Helena says:
I think so too, it feels really strange to NOT do things like this digitally today 😉 .
17 July 2018 - 7:46
Maria / Magnolia Magis says:
Here we have been using Kivra for a while, but we also have someone like you who opens the mail that comes and takes photos. Experience that it is not all mail that we get to Kivra, so unfortunately a little too much mail the usual way yet (maybe 7-8 a month). Also, do not understand banks that send out letters every month with content that the money will be deducted automatically... Yes, we have pointed out that we do not want paper mail but it does not help... But it is direct debit, so that and e-invoices are great. Health care also sends out letters, as does the social security office sometimes. Why have we asked when we have my pages on each where you log in with mobile bankID, but get the answer that they must send to the civil registration address. How much have you managed to cut down on mailings?
11 June 2018 - 8:20
Helena says:
We have streamlined the mail a lot! Some via e-Boks now, but also by contacting companies directly. The bank, for example! But I still agree that you can't manage to reduce everything! We get rent notices in our letterbox, for example, and invitations to medical care also arrive there. So it will take some time before we manage to rationalise everything ... but that's the future, I think!

Ia says:
Have had minmyndighetspost.se for several years - great. Otherwise forwarding and scanned mail via email - also works great! I know that some people, instead of scanning, take a photo with their mobile phone and send it as an MMS - also convenient.
15 June 2018 - 17:35
Helena says:
Many good tips! It's good that there are solutions! 🙂
17 July 2018 - 7:49
Tips Stellan says:
It will be really exciting to hear how it works for you!
14 July 2018 - 21:42
Helena says:
Coming soon on the blog! 🙂
17 July 2018 - 7:50
Anette says:
We also have Kivra, like many others, it works great and is almost a must when you live abroad but still have a house etc. in Sweden.
Good luck with your digital mailbox, I'm sure it will be great.
