If you've been following our blog lately, you might know that Peter is currently helping our friends Lennart and Beata finish building their summer house on the island of Ringsö in Lake Mälaren. He has been on the island all week and I came here this weekend. And a lot has happened during this week, I promise!

The construction of the log house
Lennart and Beata have built the entire log house themselves, from scratch. And when I write from scratch, I really mean it. from scratch. They have done everything from clearing brush on the site to selecting and getting each log up.
However, construction has been going on for many years and now they need some help to finish. Last year, Peter and his brother helped with the construction of the patio, as well as with the insulating the roof and building an inner roof. This year the to-do list included flooring and the kitchen, so how did it go?
The floor
When I came out for the weekend, there was suddenly real flooring in the house. What a difference! Now it feels more like a "real" home, and you feel for the first time that you should take off your shoes when you enter.
The kitchen
What about the kitchen, how did it go? It's not finished yet, but the difference from last weekend is huge. There are nice new tiles around the old iron stove, and the fridge, dishwasher, oven and cabinets have been installed. Fantastic! Not only is it getting really nice, it's also getting more and more comfortable to stay out here.
Rigging list
At the time of writing (relatively late on Saturday evening), Lennart, Beata and Peter are putting up a ceiling moulding. Things happen all the time here! Peter is staying a few more days here at Ring islandbut will return to the houseboat next weekend.

What a difference in a week! It happens a lot in a few days if you are a few handy people who help, and much more fun than going alone with a big job!

Yes, things have really happened in a week. Perhaps there have been both early mornings and late evenings so Peter has almost dreamed of hammers and drills...?.
It will be nice, and it will certainly get nicer.

Unbelievable! What a job the guys and Beata have done! And in that heat. Incredibly impressive. A real log house. Thinking of a characteristic Canadian lodge. Love that cast iron stove, so delicious it is.
As usual, you document the successes and are the supervisor;-) Smart girl;-)

What a difference in just one week! And how nice it will be. 🙂
Also itching in my building fingers at the moment after working remotely for over a month now and kind of living in a small suitcase. So because of that, it has become both too little free time and hobby building time.
