The motorhome is ready for summer travelling. At least almost! Peter has inspected the motorhome, washed it and bought some disposable items that may be needed during the trip. Now all that remains is to see if the fridge works, and to pay that invoice for missed road tolls that we received three years late ...
The motorhome is ready and inspected
Peter inspected the motorhome this week, and the result was green. Great! Now we know that the car itself works as it should. However, we are still a bit worried about the fridge. We have had problems getting it cold when running on gas, which of course is important. Peter has flushed pipes and other things with high-pressure air, but whether it works, it remains to be seen ...
Washing and purchasing of disposable items
Peter has also washed the camper on a truck wash. It's been outside for a long time (under sticky trees), so it's not completely clean, but it's much better than before! He has also bought a lot of disposable items that we might need during the trip, such as toilet tank cleaner, placemats and paper towels. All to make our exciting journey as smooth as possible!
Where are you going this summer?
So where is the summer motorhome trip going? We'll tell you tomorrow! For now, we can tell you about the payment slip we received a few days ago. We received an invoice from Portugal to pay road charges from our motorhome trip through Portugal in January 2015!!!!
We thought we had paid these fees. When we drove into the Portugal we swiped our bank card while taking a photo of our licence plate number. As we understood it, the charges would be deducted automatically, but perhaps something went wrong. The somewhat shocking thing is that the bill arrives in the post. 3.5 years later! But just pay up and look happy, we suppose ... The total? Just over 800 crowns.

Will it be great fun for you to roll away with your own motorhome instead of flying?

Kenneth Risberg says:
Yes, it's not just travelling in a motorhome, there's a lot of maintenance involved. Servicing, washing, inspection, cleaning, filling water, etc.
I will also prepare for the upcoming trip and expect to leave on Thursday morning. Since I have been in Stockholm and worked, I have not had time to arrange so much but now it will be laundry to begin with.
It will be exciting to read where your summer trip will be.

Have a nice trip.

Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
It will be fun to see where Freedom takes you this time.
It's not just going away and we still haven't fixed everything with the motorhome since we came home. For some reason, it's more fun to pack and tinker beforehand than when you get home.
We have also had problems with the fridge when using LPG during a whole holiday in France and Germany. Unfortunately it was an expensive affair when we got home as it was "something electrical". Hope you have better luck...
16 June 2018 - 8:51
Helena says:
Sorry about your fridge! Yes, we've also heard from many people who have had to pay a lot for refrigerators. We hope it will be resolved, but we're not entirely sure ...

Across the board says:

Ama de casa says:
They were probably faster on the pitch yesterday, the Portuguese, than they were with that invoice... It's annoying when it comes so late - isn't that time-barred by now? But easier to pay and look happy (or not necessarily look happy...) than to deal with southern European authorities...?
Good that the motorhome is almost ready to travel!
16 June 2018 - 9:58
Helena says:
No, it's true, you don't necessarily have to look happy, but you do have to pay ... 😉.
16 June 2018 - 11:57
Marina says:
No quick handling of the fees there... a bit like Postnord 😉 .
16 June 2018 - 10:47
Helena says:
Haha, interesting comparison! No, you can't blame them for being too fast ...
16 June 2018 - 11:58

Our Vantastic Travels says:
A bill that is 3.5 years old, you could almost think it's fake. But I assume that you checked your account when you were in Portugal so that you saw that it was paid/not paid.
Here's hoping you have a great trip with no problems with late invoices.
16 June 2018 - 20:27
Helena says:
Yes, that sounds crazy! Peter would try to check the account. Not sure if he did 😉 And thank you so much!
20 June 2018 - 17:32
BP says:
Congratulations to Freedom for being approved! A step forward compared to last year if I remember correctly.
Coming up with an invoice for road charges 3.5 years after you have been in Portugal is almost ridiculous. I think you should have checked your bank statements to see if the charges have been deducted. Otherwise, just pay it. 800 kronor is affordable, I think. But check the statements first!
16 June 2018 - 23:52
Helena says:
We thought exactly the same! We'll check the account. Otherwise, just pay!
