We have now arrived at the site in Trelleborg. We started in Stockholm at 11 o'clock in the morning and arrived at 10 o'clock in the evening. Does it take that long to drive? No, we had a slightly longer stop on the way as well ...

From Stockholm to Värnamo
The first stage of the Grand Freedom Europe Tour went from Stockholm to Värnamo. We must say that it is quite boring to drive this route through Sweden. There is not much else to look at than spruce trees. Perhaps it is most beautiful when you drive along Lake Vättern, just before Jönköping.
Visit to friends in Värnamo
Our motorhome friends Frankie & Co (yes, they drive a Frankia!) live in Värnamo, just along our route through Sweden. When they invited us to "stretch our legs" we didn't refuse. Then, of course, it is easy for the hours to pass when you meet good friends and have a lot to talk about. In addition, we were treated to super good sandwich cake with shrimp, so it was like a birthday celebration on the road (I turned one yesterday). Many thanks to Frankie & Co!
Southwards towards Trelleborg
We continued south towards Trelleborg, arriving just as the sun was dropping over the horizon. We made two attempts to fill up with water at petrol stations, but it was not successful as the water pressure at the first petrol station was ridiculous low and since there was no thread to screw our hose into at the next petrol station ... So we have no water in the motorhome, but at least we made it to the car park in Trelleborg before it got completely dark!
The motorway service area in Trelleborg
The site in Trelleborg has an excellent location by the sea, and there is room for many motorhomes. If you come from Malmö, you can easily find the site by looking to the right as you drive towards Trelleborg. The site is located just before the ferry terminal. The price for an overnight stay is SEK 100, which includes some basic services such as rubbish collection and toilets.
Today we take the ferry from Trelleborg to Rostock in Germany!

Congratulations in arrears and good luck on the trip! Followed with interest your year-long trip in 2015-16 (without commenting). It inspired and taught me SO MUCH about motorhome life! Big THANK YOU for that long, long afterwards. ?? ?Then I had never either camped or travelled in a motorhome. Now my partner and I have stepped out of working life and the squirrel wheel. We've been living in a campervan for just over a year now and really enjoy our free life. ???☀️

Mr Frank Olsen says:
Congratulations so much in arrears Helena 🙂 .
Fir trees (spruces) yes; when we were in Sweden on our long motorbike trip we drove along the coast from Umeå to Sundsvall, then up to Õstersund and north again from there to Storuman. There were a lot of spruce trees there, we thought!
And so it was in Russia between Kandalaksha and St Petersburg.
Here in Norway we are not used to so much forest, although there is some in Eastern Norway, from Oslo and northwards.
Have a nice ferry ride and happy travelling !
PS, a little tip: add the trip to Google maps 🙂 .
01 July 2018 - 12:11
Helena says:
Thank you very much Frank! What do you mean by Google Maps? That we should put the whole trip there, or each stage and put it on the blog?
01 July 2018 - 13:20
Mr Frank Olsen says:
Then here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1qFy_PAVij0T2CtlCxjuvvL5qU18&ll=63.06130000438297%2C19.25939070000004&z=4
Then you can post the link on the blog as you go along 🙂 .

Ditte says:
Congratulations Helena, in retrospect. If you are going to drive a transport route, it is not, but just at the Wetter it is nice. Otherwise, it is smaller roads that apply and then it takes longer.
Nice to have a stop on the way and some extra celebration.
01 July 2018 - 21:43
Helena says:
THANK YOU Ditte!
02 July 2018 - 21:00
Ingela says:
You missed that there is an ICA Maxi within walking distance of the car park if you need to stock up on food and drink.
Water should be added before driving????
02 July 2018 - 20:23
Helena says:
Yes exactly, Ica Maxi is a good tip! (But was probably closed when we arrived at 11 o'clock in the evening ;)) Fill up with water before driving? It sounds wise, but we have nowhere to fill up at home ... We live in a houseboat, so not easy. We usually fill up some petrol station on the way! 🙂
