You barely have time to say hello and another week has flown by. Peter has enjoyed a luxury lunch, Austrian inspiration and a visit to the houseboat this week. I (Helena) have mostly been hanging out at work, but on the other hand, I've got an large new lens, so I don't feel sorry for myself. What has been the best part of your week?
Luxury lunch and inspiration about Austria
This week Peter has been to a luxury lunch, invited by the Austrian Tourist Office. The ski resort of St Johann in the Austrian Tyrol showed pictures of its fine slopes and charming Austrian houses. Seems to be a really nice skiing destination, especially for families with children! We have never been there, but in 2017 we went skiing in Alpbach Valley in Tyrol - also very nice!
New lens
At the weekend, when we were in Wheat cats, my lens on the camera gave up. I could still take pictures but not zoom, and how fun is that? Peter has been trying all week to persuade me to switch to a compact camera and I have stubbornly refused, saying that I want a large camera (he laughs at me) that can zoom far. And what did he do? Well, he bought a yet bigger lens for me than I had before. Now I have a Nikon 18-300 lens. Soooo happy!
Visit to the houseboat
This week we also had a visit from our motorhome friend Kenneth, who travelled with us to Wismar in Germany in 2017. He was visiting Stockholm on business and stopped by the houseboat with a bottle of bubbly. Very nice! Or yes, most pleasant for Peter then because I (Helena) was at work. Peter forgot to take a photo, but the picture below from a German wine cellar fits well on Happy Friday, right?

That's how it is in life; we women have to work and struggle while our men can enjoy themselves.... Anyway, cosy with a luxury lunch!
New photo equipment is fun, isn't it? We made a real investment when Scandinavian Photo opened its store in Stockholm and each bought a full-format camera with a telephoto lens. The only downside to my Nikon 200-500 is that it weighs 2.3kg so it's not something you run around with. Then it became a 24-105 mm and that lens is always there. Now I got the urge to go out and take photos in the lovely autumn weather! Nice weekend!

Great fun with a real telephoto lens! But sure, I understand, tricky to drag around. My plan is actually to drag my camera around, even though it may be a bit on the border 😉 .

Zooming is fun! 🙂 There are always things to zoom, birds of prey, boats, towers ... 🙂 🙂

Yes, Peter probably has good days sometimes, but I also know that you work hard and much with the blog until late in the evening. You deserve both luxury lunches and good photo equipment and new wireless headphones (Helena).
I thought it was fun to visit you to see how you live and your neighbours' floating houses. You really do live in a houseboat, a converted boat while many of the others are not really converted boats.
It's great that you also have so much going on and I look forward to what's coming next year, have a nice weekend!!!

Helena says:
Yes, it is absolutely true that we work hard! It is actually mostly work, even if there is a nice lunch in between 😉 Glad you got to look at both houseboats and floating villas, because yes, some of our neighbours have more house than boat 😉 Have a nice weekend Kenneth!

Now I'm getting a bit worried about Peter... He forgot to take a photo - again!!???! Ow, ow, ow...
But he compensated for that blunder by giving you that builder's lens, and you don't forget to take pictures. You just have to make sure you hang out less at work 😉 😀.

Helena says:
It was lucky that he compensated a bit, now I will be happy for a while more, even though he forgets... 😉.

When you show your nice camera, I get a little anxious about ours. Before we moved we sold our system camera (which was old but good) and the compact camera (which I never got on with) and bought a brand new Sony with extra lenses. We've barely used the camera... We mostly use our mobile phones and when there have been times when we should have used the camera, it's always been out of charge and then the mobile phone again. The expensive camera is just lying there in the nice case ... As I said, bad conscience.
Suspect that in the future there will be a post from Tyrol then with you whizzing down the slopes! 😀

Helena says:
I don't think you should have a bad conscience! Taking pictures with such a camera should be fun, and not a must, I think. The mobile phone works many times. However, I think it is very difficult to take photos with a mobile phone as soon as it obscures the slightest ... (And then there is that thing about zooming then ... ;)).

Nice to meet over lunch.
The owners also have a larger system camera but it almost never goes with me as the owners find it unwieldy and they pretty much only use their mobile phones nowadays.
Me and the owners wish you a nice weekend!

Yes, I miss someone coming with surprises. I got many before 😀.
But you can surprise yourself, so I'm celebrating Happy Friday.
It looks so fun to have a system camera or compact with a big zoom. I have had, so I know. But I've started to get lazy, haha, so the mobile phone camera has to do its job.
Have a good time and enjoy the weekend 😀.

How wonderful with both a luxury lunch and a new camera lens. It sounds like you had a really good week. 🙂
My best of the week was the concert with Kodaline at Södra teatern, a memorable experience with two of my sons. <3 (Stood even closer than in the press ditch in the Czech Republic!)

Guess Peter didn't take a doggy bag with him, but on the other hand he bought you a new tripod. That's real love there;-)
Hope you will enjoy your new mate. I myself do not have the same ambitions with my blog, so I don't have to carry around five kilos or so;-) I think you probably feel best with what you are used to. I mean, you didn't want a compact camera and I would never manage a system camera. Luckily you are different.

I've really wanted to buy new lenses and even a new camera body. But I'm too lazy to carry the camera with me anyway. So I ended up buying a new phone instead - and it has a better camera than my old one, so I can see a huge difference. And it's always with me. Because the best pictures are the ones that are actually taken 😀.

So much fun with a new lens! It's something I would also need. My favourite lens has too many years (and exhausting trips) behind it now and it shows.
