Today we offer some photos from everyday life in the marina where we live. Right now, work is in full swing on new docks, and the marina's boats go back and forth outside our kitchen window. Just when you're cooking breakfast, a big boat full of workers can pass by, with docks in tow ...
Work in progress
I don't know if you remember that a jetty in the marina sank just over a year ago? Peter was in Greece and I (Helena) woke up to strange noises ... only to discover that we had lost our connection to land! It wasn't our boat that had slipped, but part of the jetty that had sunk, along with the house that stood on top of the jetty (not a residential building), and the stores that were underneath it.
Marinan soon salvaged the sunken house (quite dramatically!) and fixed a temporary jetty for us. Now a new jetty is to be built, with a new house and storage facilities, if we understand correctly. We think that's the work that started this week. Maybe they will build a temporary dock for us while they do the repairs? In any case, there is a lot going on outside the kitchen windows!
Do we work?
Yes, we also work, but perhaps not quite so physically. I (Helena) am preparing for a major seminar at work, and Peter also has projects going on with the blog that have to do with design and new thinking. It turns out in the future, we hope! By the way, we are kind of super tired, and can't handle so many knots it feels like. Is it the darkness? Anyone who recognises themselves?

I remember that you wrote about the bridge that sank on the blog, no how awful I thought...how does she get to work now? We have been to your home so we know what it looks like outside your kitchen window ☺️?Hugs to you both.

It was lucky that it was a Saturday 🙂 (And then the emergency bridge that is in the marina was hoisted ;))

Exciting environment you live in. Would be a bit scary to walk on the bridge if it is slippery.

Helena says:
It can be a bit slippery at times, but the marina ploughs and sands so it is rare.

Emma, sun like sun? says:
Those white 'tubes', are they houseboats? Or floating accommodation, anyway. It's a shame to call them a boat.
Understand that it's interesting to see everything that's going on - I'd be hanging out the window all the time! - even if it can also be annoying. Do you get no information about (planned) works? Is there no association for those who live there?
28 November 2018 - 9:13
Helena says:
Yes, it is floating accommodation! 🙂 Yes we get emails with information! That's why we know that these rebuild the bridge! (But may not always understand every part of the work ;)) There is no association. The marina is a private company and we rent a berth from them. We residents have a FB group though 😉 .

How exciting! Hope they get it right now and that it stays afloat 😀.
Yes, I am. I'm also super tired, but it's not due to lack of light, the sun has thankfully returned after an unusually long absence. But, I continue to baby-step my way through and hopefully the energy will return soon.

Understand that you are tired!!! And you have something to blame! The strength will surely come back, but it may take some time. Get well soon!

Yes, you are not bored in the marina. I think it is exciting to follow such construction projects that are quite unusual for me. I'm just surprised that it took so long before the construction started and that it is done so late in the year.
November is not a month that makes you feel good right away. At least we have had five days in a row with sunshine, but who goes out voluntarily when the thermometer shows five degrees below zero in the middle of the day.

Helena says:
I am also a little surprised that they choose to do this in November / December, but I guess there is some reason for that. Nice with the sun, but when you work in an office you do not have time to see so much of it 😉 And of course it is cold!

Maria/ Magnolia Magis says:
How cool to have some life outside the kitchen window!?
It is not surprising that you are tired, such is your pace! When the winter darkness comes, you should also unwind, not go full speed ahead. But that's the downside of our society. People expect the same pace all year round. Then you get tired and in order not to feel the fatigue, you put yourself in another gear and invent even more... What can you do? Get rid of a lot of chores. Switch off your computer and phone when you get home. Sit together on the sofa and fall asleep to a nice film? Refuse to attend stressful events. Stay in bed all day and read a cosy book. Take a walk. Listen to something funny or watch something funny. Do a jigsaw puzzle. Now I'm going to stop! I'm going to make a little elf! Take care of yourselves! ?

There is always something interesting happening outside the windows here 😉 Well, we may have a little too much going on. The ambition is to cut down a bit, but it's hard to make it work... Your tips sound excellent though 🙂 .

Yes, both I and the owners remember that post. Can be nice to have some life outside the window even at this time of year.
But oh how cold it looks for these people who have to drive around in the boats. When the owners think of boats, it's blue skies and t-shirts...?

We hope they are warmly dressed!!!

I remember the bridge that sank. I followed you much more diligently then. I don't know what has happened, I have no time, no energy, it must be cold and dark.
You then have a lot of movement around and for you!

Helena says:
There is almost always something happening outside the windows 😉 Otherwise, I recognise what you describe, it may have to do with the cold and darkness!

November is not such a bright and cheerful month...rather the opposite! No wonder you are tired!
Trying to remember last week in the sunlight and warmth of Gran Canaria!
