Yesterday I (Helena) had Christmas dinner at Mr French, on Skeppsbrokajen in Stockholm. It was my second Christmas dinner this year, and the last one before it's time for us to travel to Sri Lanka. Have you eaten any Christmas dinner this year, at home or in a restaurant? What is most important to you on a good Christmas table?

Christmas table at Mr French
This year there have been two Christmas dinners with work for me, as I have two different jobs. Not too bad! A few weeks ago I was at Christmas table at Vaxholm Castle. Yesterday it was time for Christmas dinner at Mr French, located in Tullhus 2 on Skeppsbrokajen in Stockholm.
When we arrived here for our Christmas lunch, we were greeted by a cosy hallway full of green trees. A cosy atmosphere and a wonderful welcome!
Classic Christmas table
The Christmas table at Mr French was classic with different types of herring, many types of salmon, fresh and smoked shrimps, eggs with toppings, cheeses, homemade terrines, ham, Jansson's temptation, meatballs and sausages. There were also, for example, venison stew and venison tails.
Sweet and savoury
There are always sweets on a Christmas table, and at Mr French too, of course. Here we found rice á la Malta, fruit salad, chocolate pralines, crackers, candied nuts and other treats.
What did we think?
The Christmas table was good and excellent, but did not stand out in any way. The venue is also nice, and the view of the water is nice. However, what was a bit boring was that the staff felt "tired" and inattentive.
No one asked if you wanted more to drink after the first round, and it took forever to get coffee in. When we asked for the coffee for the third time, there were some tired faces from the staff because we missed that they placed it a bit away from where we sat, without saying anything. A little better service please! Otherwise, a nice Christmas table in a nice environment.

I was at Mr French just over a week ago when I visited Stockholm. Was only there for a few drinks with good friends, but saw the Christmas table.
I have had a British Christmas dinner already, turkey, not at all like the Swedish one.
Have a wonderful time in Sri Lanca!
Wishing you a Merry Christmas, Nadolig Llawen from Lena in Wales!

But funny that you were right here, just recently! 🙂 Turkey (or duck or goose) seems to be classic Christmas food in many places! Wishing you a very nice Christmas!

Boring with inattentive and "tired" staff!
Venison stew and deer tails really made my mouth water (even if it's not so "Christmassy" in itself) - soooo good with game!
I would like to have herring, salmon (gravad), ham, meatballs, prinskorv and janssons on the Christmas table. Haha! It was different huh? 😉 😀
Have a great trip to Sri Lanka!

Helena says:
Haha, not so different perhaps, but there is nothing wrong with classic favourites 😉 I also like herring, salmon, ham and Jansson!

I have been put on a low-no salt diet, so Janssons, herring, ham, prince sausage,
etc, etc, sounds too damn good. Forbidden fruit tastes best!
Wishing Helena and Peter a wonderful Christmas holiday in the tropics!

Christmas table and Christmas food is not really my thing, so I skip most of it. Ate Christmas table for the first Advent at Svampen in Örebro and tasted a little of everything. But, not exactly my taste in Christmas food. However, a fresh lobster, other seafood and a salmon that is both cold-smoked and gravad are favourites.
Sad that the service at Mr French was not so good. (Have only been there with friends for a drink in the evening).
Wishing you now a really wonderful trip to Sri Lanka. filled with great experiences on site. There is much to see and experience.

It is possible that we were unlucky with the service, but yes, it reduced the overall impression a bit. Otherwise, it is a nice place and the food was good. I may not like everything on the Christmas table, but there is often a lot to choose from 🙂 Lobster may not be so common ... but shrimp and salmon were plentiful at Mr French in af 🙂.

If I get salmon, herring and a good Jansson, I'm pretty happy with Christmas food.
Our Christmas dinner with work colleagues at Karstorp Hotel and Conference, served as tapas, was just fine.
Have a wonderful trip to Sri Lanka.

BP says:
During the summer we usually sit at Mr French from time to time and have a beer/wine. The Christmas table was really classic, which is fine, as many other places might "mess up" by serving alternative Christmas food. Tired staff is not approved, although I can understand the girls and guys. They do not have a 37-hour week like "normal" people during the "Christmas table season".

Susjos says:
The Christmas table looked great, but it's a shame about the poor service, which means so much!
I also mainly like herring, salmon and Janssons! Something I would like to have is lutefisk, it's been a while since I ate it now!
We are going to Ulriksdal Inn for Christmas dinner on Saturday, I am looking forward to it, maybe they have lutefisk?!
Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year celebration!!!!
Hugs!
