Nordic Camping and First Camp merge

A new and record-breaking camping chain is formed when Nordic Camping & Resort and First Camp merge. The camping industry in Sweden is doing well, while there is a great need for investment, development and digitalisation. The aim is to create a new first-class camping chain, and the deal is expected to be finalised in February. The newly formed camping group will have 700 employees and 40 sites in Sweden and Denmark.

More ferries to Gotland

Destination Gotland has opened bookings for summer travel to and from Gotland. New for this year is that three large ships will be in operation at the same time, two of them on the line between Visby and Nynäshamn. The new ship M / S Visborg looks a little different from previous ships, and has, among other things, a separate children's lounge and numbered reclining chairs in direct proximity to the restaurant area.

Dometic launches new portable battery

The Dometic PLB4o has been developed to meet the tough demands of outdoor use. The use of lithium iron phosphate makes the battery both lightweight and compact, says Dometic in a press release. The battery is designed to power weekend coolers, 12 V consumers and USB accessories and can be charged via 12 V, solar panel or 230 volts.

World premiere of the Dead Sea marathon!

A new marathon is being launched, the Dead Sea Marathon, which is unique because it is run on beaches and desert landscapes and is located at the lowest point on earth, 430.5 metres below sea level. The race will be held on 1 February 2019 in Israel and will be accompanied by three other races in the same area, with different distances.

2019's major travel trends

Ticket lists the top travel trends of 2019:

  • Experiences and adventures - trips that vary sun and sea (Miami, Cape Town), Caribbean and Mediterranean cruises and encounters with the country's culture and local cuisine

  • Nature and the outdoors - hiking, cycling, safari, countryside
  • Digital detox - switch off your phones, relax and enjoy
