The Inspire camper is something as unusual as a panel van with a regular motorhome door instead of a sliding door, and a regular tailgate instead of rear doors. Perhaps you could say that this is a further development of the flatbed - a flatbed that in several aspects resembles a regular motorhome. We checked out Inspire's cars at the Caravan Stockholm 2019 fair and fell in love - again!

Inspire motorhome
The Inspire camper is the first panel van to be equipped with a standard motorhome door instead of a sliding door and a tailgate instead of rear doors. All three models (5.40, 5.99 and 6.40) have an extra double bed in addition to the bed in the rear of the vehicle, which folds down from the roof above the seating area. There is a choice of Citroën or Fiat chassis.
As standard, all Inspire vans are equipped with a fixed gas tank, and an optional coupling for a bottle of P11 is also available. The vehicles are also equipped with a reversing camera, solar panels, airborne heating and a 140-litre fridge and 16-litre freezer.
Inspire camper 5.40
We took a look at the smallest plate last year, on the fair in Kista 2018but to make sure you see all three in one go, we're showing it again. We liked this handy little tin box and have to say that it packs a lot into its limited space.
- Length: 5.41 metres
- Number of belted seats: 4
- Number of beds: 3+1
- Service weight: 2.69 tonnes
- Total weight: 3.5 tonnes
- Price: SEK 709 400
Inspire camper 5.99
This year, at Caravan Stockholm 2019, we checked out the two larger models. The intermediate model stands at just under 6 metres, which makes it agile while being slightly more spacious than the very smallest model.
- Length: 5.99 metres
- Number of belted seats: 4
- Number of beds: 4
- Service weight: 2.75 tonnes
- Total weight: 3.5 tonnes
- Price: SEK 741 200
Inspire camper 6.40
The largest model is of course the most spacious, which is especially noticeable in the rear bed, which is lengthwise instead of crosswise. The design is nice in all models, we think, and the bathrooms are also exceptionally nice.
- Length: 6.36 metres
- Number of belted seats: 4
- Number of beds: 4
- Service weight: 2.89 tonnes
- Total weight: 3.5 tonnes
- Price: SEK 761 500
Inspire camper vans feel agile and unexpectedly spacious, and they were one of our favourites at Caravan Stockholm 2019. Now we've finished reporting from this year's show. This time there were a lot of vans ... perhaps because the vans stood out and were interesting to report on!

They seem to be very nice, those little buggers. Small and smooth, but still spacious. Can not be better 🙂

But then it's not a "flatbed", it's built that way. A "flatbed" still has the cabinet construction.

I think it's a sheet metal caravan because it's made of sheet metal, unlike regular caravans which are made of fibreglass 🙂 ).

This was, after all, an exciting model at a reasonable price. Nice that there is something for everyone. I currently have two Plåtis on the construction site, but they are real tinsmiths. It's probably the closest I can get to a Plåtis.

Nice, isn't it? 🙂 I know there was a lot of reporting on lorries this time Matts. Next time we'll check out some bigger motorhomes too 🙂.

Nice article! We are considering a Plåtis that is comfortable with smart, functional solutions and less fuss. We want to be able to be out for longer periods of time, it should be a car that can handle free camping well and we should not be dependent on a camping site. You who have seen more models than most, which models do you recommend? Have looked a little at inspire (not IR).

Hi. Read your blog from time to time and was so pleased by this post. We are looking for a motorhome / plåtis and I or we who do not know much at all about the subject appreciate the information. I think plåtis without rear doors and regular "motorhome" door are very interesting. As far as I understand, a cold draft is avoided if there are no ordinary doors at the rear of a flatbed.
