What a snowstorm in Stockholm! On Sunday morning, we woke up in a world that was tilted, inside window panes that were completely blocked by snow. What had happened to the world outside?
Snowy weather in Stockholm
It started snowing already on Friday, when we set off towards the party cruise with Viking Line. During the night between Saturday and Sunday, large amounts of snow fell in Stockholm. The snow was wet and came in at an angle, creating drifts and snow in the most unexpected places.
Perhaps it was lucky that it was Sunday, and not so many people were travelling to work in the early hours of the morning. Of course, the roads were snowed in and the trains stood still here and there. That's what happens when there is a snow storm in Stockholm!
A leaning houseboat
We ourselves woke up in the morning in a leaning houseboat. The wet snow had swirled in with the north wind and settled unevenly on the roof of the boat, with the result that we were leaning to the south. Should we go up and shovel the roof? No, it was not tempting in the morning, and the snow is usually only a few days in the Stockholm area.
Maybe we could stand living on a slope for a few days? The only thing that happens is that the water in the shower has a harder time hitting the floor drain, and all the eggs end up at the same end of the frying pan when you try to fry them... We just go with scrambled eggs!
Shovelling out the car
In the middle of the day on Sunday we were invited to lunch at my (Helena's) mum's house. Shovelling the car was a project, especially since we don't have a snow shovel. Well, we got going!
Monday was another snowy day, and many people were late for work due to delayed commuter trains and stalled buses. On such days, you're glad you can walk to work and not have to worry about public transport.
This is what it can be like when there is snow in Stockholm! Have you had snowy weather where you live?
Veiken says:
Haha no we haven't had a snow storm where we live. Suffer with you!

Helena says:
Haha, good thing we don't suffer so much ourselves then 🙂 .

We got 40cm of new snow over the weekend and another 1dm today so the snow depth is approaching 1 metre... mostly cold snow so no cow on the ice 😉.
We have not yet had a single day of wet snow... sad for the little ones playing in the snow, it is not possible to make snowmen with cold snow.
Have a nice week.

Helena says:
A lot of snow!!! But understand that the little ones want to make snowmen!!! By the way, can no longer get into your blog ...

No, we have managed very well from snowy weather hihi. Saw some on a peak for a couple of days, then it was gone again 😀.

Helena says:
Understand that you don't have as much snow...! 😉

Mr Steve says:
See, now you too have real winter. Because it's nice to get out of traffic and walk to work.

Helena says:
Very nice not to be dependent on trains and buses! 🙂

Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
Here I can announce that we have rain and plus degrees. Little My gets so dirty when we are out on our long walks. I get to enjoy your winter pictures!

Helena says:
It has also been warmer here today ...

Ama de casa says:
Haha! That's a clever way to come up with the perfect solution - scrambled eggs 😀 Don't get ahead of yourself.
But that you don't have a snow shovel? Even we do (a small one, but still!). We got to use it once. Up in the Sierra Nevada we got very snowy. More snowy than usual, that is 😉.
Here at home, we haven't had a snowstorm since 18 January 2017. Then a few millimetres of snow fell here. The previous snowstorm was 91 years earlier, so I have a feeling that we'll avoid snow again this year 😀.

Helena says:
Do you have a snow shovel!!!? Impressed! So we only have a short gangway to shovel (usually sweep). But that's the thing about the car ... 😉 😉

I am so happy that it was for this particular winter that we finally got away from Sweden. Even though it is beautiful.

Hi, oops, sounds a bit creepy with a leaning home.
Well, apart from Alftida which caused a lot of trouble here on the island, we have had snowstorms x 2 this year.
A bit messy at times. (There are pictures on instagram, among all the millions I upload to my "diary". /ninnyvonne) to get in at home at the den yesterday.

Wow ... waking up in a tilted world is not always fun - at least not on a boat! Good thing it was "only" the snow.
Yes ... there have been storms here too, but if you live in the countryside like us, it's not so chaotic. The most difficult thing is to shovel everything that needs to be shovelled.

Anette says:
I get a bit jealous. It's as hot as ever here, not much variation.

Dramatic pictures and story even here with you. Of course we zero rats blog about the snow storm and the chaos it brings - year after year. We are so happy to offer ourselves, so that everyone who lives in Norrland gets a good laugh;-)
Oh yeah, we've had the same storm in Täby too, although we didn't have involuntary scrambled eggs in the apartment;-)

Waking up to a tilted world is no picnic.
Here we had just enough snow and nice winter weather for a couple of days, but now it's snowing and almost thawing. Bad luck for all those on holiday next week.
Last night I had to slip out by car for a long journey. Already after 1 mile I had seen two cars being pulled out of the ditch. It was with a sigh of relief that I drove the car into the garage just before midnight....

We still have bare ground here in Skåne and I don't mind. Of course it's beautiful with snow, but here it's mostly thaw and sleet.

No snow here either?... still in Sri Lanka warm and cosy here... Hope the snow is gone when I leave here in mid March greetings from the beautiful island to all of you?

Heard about all your snow. What a mess.
Luckily it wasn't worse with the slope, but still.
Beautiful pictures.
Hope the weather is better now.

Hehe, eggs on one side of the frying pan is not exactly a problem that I suffer from 🙂 ).
