Snowy weather in Stockholm - and a leaning houseboat

What a snowstorm in Stockholm! On Sunday morning, we woke up in a world that was tilted, inside window panes that were completely blocked by snow. What had happened to the world outside?

Snowy weather in Stockholm

It started snowing already on Friday, when we set off towards the party cruise with Viking Line. During the night between Saturday and Sunday, large amounts of snow fell in Stockholm. The snow was wet and came in at an angle, creating drifts and snow in the most unexpected places.

Perhaps it was lucky that it was Sunday, and not so many people were travelling to work in the early hours of the morning. Of course, the roads were snowed in and the trains stood still here and there. That's what happens when there is a snow storm in Stockholm!

A leaning houseboat

We ourselves woke up in the morning in a leaning houseboat. The wet snow had swirled in with the north wind and settled unevenly on the roof of the boat, with the result that we were leaning to the south. Should we go up and shovel the roof? No, it was not tempting in the morning, and the snow is usually only a few days in the Stockholm area.

Maybe we could stand living on a slope for a few days? The only thing that happens is that the water in the shower has a harder time hitting the floor drain, and all the eggs end up at the same end of the frying pan when you try to fry them... We just go with scrambled eggs!

Shovelling out the car

In the middle of the day on Sunday we were invited to lunch at my (Helena's) mum's house. Shovelling the car was a project, especially since we don't have a snow shovel. Well, we got going!

Monday was another snowy day, and many people were late for work due to delayed commuter trains and stalled buses. On such days, you're glad you can walk to work and not have to worry about public transport.

This is what it can be like when there is snow in Stockholm! Have you had snowy weather where you live?
