Last weekend there was a lot of partying in Tirolberg in Åre for us, three nights for Peter and two nights for Helena. So, what is Tirolberg? Well, it's a party house that Austria's tourist office built in Åre during the 2019 World Cup.

Austria in Åre
Austria took place at the World Cup in Åre with a whole house, right next to the Holidy Club Åre. According to our bus driver, the house appeared from one day to the next. Suddenly it just stood there, Tirolberg, and was filled with happy Austrians. Most came from four specific regions in Tyrol, namely Arlberg (St Anton), Zillertal, Ischgl and Ötztal (Sölden).
Party in Tirolberg in Åre
Every evening there was a party in Tirolberg in Åre. It started with drinks and continued with dinner at set tables, live music, award ceremonies and all sorts of other festivities. Tourist office people and skiers from Austria as well as bloggers, journalists and travel agents from Sweden and Denmark came to the festivities.
By the way, at one end of the venue they had placed their new gondola lift, which is equipped with both insulation and heating to keep you comfortable and cosy during the trip.
Dinner with Zillertal
On one of the evenings, the Zillertal region provided the dinner. This evening we were offered a four-course dinner with goat cheese, wine soup, deer fillet with red cabbage puree and the Austrian desserts "kirschtagskrapfen" and "apfelradl". Fantastically good!
Dinner with Ischgl
The next evening, it was the turn of the resort of Ischgl to set the table, and they didn't want to be inferior. In addition to good skiing and lively parties, Ischgl is known for its good restaurants. They made sure to offer a total of seven dishes during the evening!
First we were served broth in a small bottle, with a small meatball on a stick. Fun and different! At the seated table there was a whole range of other dishes. I do not even remember all of them, but we were offered, among other things, a super good salmon tartar, duo in soup and a slightly fun dessert that would remind us of an upcoming concert with Lenny Kravitz. Ischgl is a ski resort for those who like parties, nightlife and concerts!
Mingle and awards ceremony
In addition to good food, there was of course a lot of mingling in Tirolberg in Åre. We met several travel bloggers that we know and a bunch of nice journalists and travel sellers, most of them focused on skiing or on Austria as a destination.
Austria took the opportunity to congratulate several of the winners of the World Cup, and winners from other countries were invited to ski in Austria. A pair of skis was also raffled off, but we didn't win so we didn't have to think about how to get them home on the plane ... There were several fun evenings and it feels like we have been little better understand the different ski resorts in Tyrol. We will return with a post about it!
The trip to Åre was a press trip in co-operation with the Austrian Tourist Office.

What good food and lovely mingle! I like Ischgl, but have always wondered what that place has against vowels? 😉
Congratulations on the non-win 😀 .

I can recommend Zillertal, many small winter open campsites and free ski bus to different ski areas in the valley. We drove the motorhome down without toll road or steep passes, 99 miles from the ferry in Rostock.

Being Sweden's largest travel blog certainly has its advantages. What stuff you get to be involved in! The food looked fantastic! In addition, I laughed at the guy in the lederhosen in the first picture. Talk about maintaining traditions endlessly;-)

Helena says:
Yes, sometimes it is extra fun to run a travel blog, for sure! 🙂 And haha, those traditions with the lederhosen will probably not be washed away in the first place ... 😉.
