Yesterday it was a lovely walk from Pampas marina to Sundbyberg. There is a very nice walking path along the water and yesterday the weather was also fantastic. Just look at the people enjoying the sun by the water!
Walk along the waterfront
Our friends Lennart and Beata called and asked if we wanted to have a late lunch in Sumpan. There is a footpath from Pampas marina i Solna all the way to Sundbyberg.
The road runs along the water and passes piers, boats and a 4H farm before arriving at Café Båthuset at Huvudsta Strandbad. There was a long queue here yesterday, and the quayside was full of people enjoying the sun. What a lovely March day!
You then continue past a whole bunch of ships and houseboats, which are moored along the seafront. We also saw new jetties and places to sit along the waterfront. Nice!
Wooden houses Strandparken
On the way into the centre of Sundbyberg, you pass two large residential buildings called Strandparken. The buildings face Bällstaviken and are special because they are completely built in wood.
Cosy Sundbyberg
We have lived in Sundbyberg and liked the cosy town even then. When we now walked in the direction of our old apartment, it almost felt like we were going "home". Much has changed in Sumpan since we lived here, and many changes feel positive. The area around Signalfabriken is nice with several restaurants and cafés.
For us it was a quiet and pleasant day in our old home town. Have you ever been to Sundbyberg? What is your relationship with the smallest municipality in Sweden?
Anette says:
I also like Sumpan, our oldest daughter has been living there for a couple of years. She lives in the older part and it's very cosy, there's a small neighbourhood pub in the house where there are always people sitting around.
I have walked your walk a couple of times, it is lovely to walk there by the water, especially on a beautiful spring or early summer day.

Like a fish in water (though not in the Marabou River) in BudgetBromma. But we only have a few minutes to e.g. Signalfabriken. Good library there too.
? We are beginning to long for the neighbourhood. Just as much fun coming home as travelling. Always something new going on along the water?

Nice to be able to both long away and long for home! 🙂 Yes, agree that it changes! There were several houses and bridges that we have not seen before (maybe a while since we walked all the way though).

What a lovely spring walk! 🙂
I have been quite a lot in Sumpan as I worked for a few years in Solna just on the border with Sumpan. Like the small town 🙂
Have a lovely Sunday! It's raining here which doesn't feel stupid at all, looking forward to a day in the sofa corner 🙂 .

Sumpan is nice and I have some friends who live there. A lot of new things have been built and some old things have disappeared, but the town is still very charming. Understand that it was a nice day.
I have walked the road along the waterfront from Karlberg/Jungfrudansen many times and it is beautiful in all seasons. A lot of new things have been added here as well and much of the old remains.

A lovely spring walk ... I've never even been to Sundbyberg ... so for me it's like coming to another country 🙂.

What a lovely spring walk and nice pictures that make you almost feel the fresh spring air.
Sundbyberg is an almost white spot on our map...

Emma, sun like sun? says:
For me, Sundbyberg is quite grey. I've been to a lot of computer programmes there in the past, and I've been to ELFA with my husband as well. No such great experiences, then. But there is certainly nothing wrong with Sundbyberg. 🙂
What a marvellous day you seem to have had! Here it has rained in the morning, much needed but it is not nice with only 14 degrees.

This is exactly the same walk we took last year, but in the other direction. I really like Sundbyberg. The town is cosy, has the highest density of pubs in Sweden and a few years ago Sumpan was chosen as the municipality where people preferred to live in the greater Stockholm area. I can actually understand that. In addition, the crayfish and surströmming party on the last Thursday in August is a real highlight.

Many, many years ago, before I moved to Stockholm, I sometimes stayed with my cousin's cousin when I was visiting Stockholm. They lived in Jungfrudansen so we used to walk down by the water just where you walked today. Very nice! And I think you can see those wooden houses from the subway on the other side of Bällstaviken. I saw them the last time we took the tram to the Mall of Scandinavia and remember thinking about them because they looked different.
