The press release about renting a motorhome at a campsite is actually from last week, but for some reason it ended up in my rubbish bin. We'll pick it up this week instead! Otherwise, this Monday we can offer some cruise news, as well as another news about train travel.

You can now rent a motorhome at a campsite
According to a press release from First Camp, Sweden's first comprehensive concept for campervan hire at campsites will be launched this year. The concept is called Rent A Camper and is launched together with Varbergs Husbilar. Initially, campervan hire will be offered at First Camp's destinations in Malmö and Varberg. The motorhomes for hire are fully equipped with bedding, kitchenware, full tank and LPG bottle.
SAS strike continues
Last Friday, SAS pilots in Sweden, Norway and Denmark went on strike. Since then, more than 1,500 flights have been cancelled and nearly 170,000 people have been affected, according to several media reports. The strike is now expected to continue and departures will be cancelled both today, Monday, and tomorrow, Tuesday.

"Rosella goes green" on Rosella
Viking Line's Åland cruiser Rosella meets spring with the concept "Rosella Grönskar" together with the Swedish National Culinary Team. The theme begins on 1 May and is inspired by Åland delicacies, such as pan-fried green asparagus, lamb fillet with wild garlic capers and Åland pancakes. The food is served both as a three-course menu and as themed dishes on the buffet. Mid-May also marks the start of Rosella's bubble weeks, with a wide range of sparkling wines.
Ving continues to focus on rail travel
In February, Ving launched a new train holiday with a premiere to Davos in Switzerland. The seats quickly sold out and on 5 October it's time for Ving's second train trip; a train and hiking trip to Engelberg in the Swiss Alps. The journey will take just over 26 hours from Stockholm with four changes, via Copenhagen, Hamburg, Basel and Lucerne and has 30 seats. For Swedes in the south of the country, there is a possibility to connect in Copenhagen.

I hope and believe that train travel will increase. A train holiday to Switzerland with hiking sounds undeniably really nice. Got a taste of our little train trip to Basel last week.

Train journey to Basel sounds nice! I also hope it will increase, but it feels like it's on a rather small scale ...

Travelling by train sounds exciting. My sister and I have talked about a train journey but haven't got round to it. Maybe it would be good to start with an organised trip? We will have to keep an eye on Vings offerings in the future. Thanks for the tip.

Trains are a nice way to travel! I hope there will be more and more train journeys. So far the offer seems to be quite limited.

I don't really understand the point of renting a motorhome at a campsite. Then it's smarter to rent a camping cabin, I think.
Then I wouldn't want to spend 26 hours on a train and suffer four changes (times 2, as I have to travel back to Stockholm as well). Sure, trains are more environmentally friendly than planes, but time also matters, especially if you have small children with you.

I think the idea is to rent the motorhome and then go travelling. But I don't know why it's better to rent at a campsite. We'll see how it goes.
