We are approaching the end of Easter and we hope you had a great Easter weekend! Here, of course, it's time for travel news. A lot of travel news right now is about climate-smart choices in the travel industry. It is important for companies to stay ahead in this area, which is of course positive! Today we can also advise those who are keen to buy a cable car to read extra carefully.

Sun and warmth are more appealing than Easter food
Did you celebrate Easter at home or abroad this year? According to a press release from eBeach.se, this year many people wanted to replace the Easter buffet with a trip abroad. As many as 75 per cent wanted to spend Easter in the sun and warmth, while 11 per cent wanted to visit a big city. The following destinations were most popular, according to booking statistics:
Tour operators carbon offset air travel
A few weeks ago we wrote about Airline BRA is carbon offsetting all flights booked from 1 April. TUI now writes that from 1 May it will offset all Nordic customers who travel with the company's own airlines, as well as those who stay at one of TUI's own hotels. At about the same time, Ving in the Nordic region writes that from 29 April they will offset all 1.5 million guests' flights.
Holiday buses drive climate-smart
It is not only airlines that want to market themselves with climate-smart choices, but also bus tour operators. Bergkvarabuss-owned Scandorama and Ölvemarks Holiday are now investing in the renewable, fossil-free and climate-smart biofuel HVO. From 1 June, all Scandorama and Ölvemarks Holiday buses can run on HVO, which reduces carbon dioxide emissions by up to 90 per cent.
Mobile phones and books important for solo travellers
Almost every second Swede is in favour of travelling on their own. This is according to a Sifo survey commissioned by Airtours. Just over a thousand people aged 16-79 were asked what is most important to bring on a solo holiday, and here are the results:
- Mobiles (49 %)
- Books (21 %)
- Camera (12 %)
- Reading tablet (5 %)
- Computer (3 %)
World's longest cable car for sale
If you are looking to buy a cable car, now is the time to act. The cable car between Mensträsk and Örträsk was originally used to transport ore, but from 1989 the 13.6 kilometre long cable car became the 'world's longest passenger cable car'. Today, the cable car is at a standstill and measures are required to bring it back into use. Could there be an exciting future for this beautiful place?

Now it feels so good not to have to think about going away for weekends and holidays. We can stay at home and enjoy Easter food and then go away when others are working.
Good that travel companies are carbon offsetting as much as possible!

Yes, it's nice not to have to travel during the holidays!

I celebrated Easter at home abroad, although I didn't see any sun and warmth... 🙂 ...
I'm one of the 3% who thinks the computer is the most important thing to take with you on your trip. Or maybe the camera beats it? Yes, it does. But I choose to include all the stuff there on the list, just because I can 😀.
Oh! The cable car... I remember when I was little and we went to my grandmother in Norsjö, we saw that cable car and sometimes it crossed the road, it was scary! In those days, it was used for ore transport and there were huge "urns" that the ore travelled in. We called the cable car "the baskets". So it is for sale? Maybe I should - for nostalgic reasons - strike? 😉

Oh do you remember the cable car? Great! It looks like the kind of thing you'd want to preserve, but I guess that includes a lot of costs ...

Unfortunately, I have not understood this at all about climate compensating air travel by paying extra. or that the airlines do it. The emissions are not directly less for the aircraft. For my part, I think you should think about the environment in your daily life. And since we don't have a car, for example, this is a way for us. to contribute. But I wouldn't pay extra on the aeroplane for this. However, I can choose which airlines I fly with and try to take the ones that invest in the environment.
Yes, a cable car would be fun to have. But it's a bit tricky what I would use it for.

I understand your point of view, even though I might think that it's better to carbon offset than to do nothing at all. But as a private individual, you can focus on something else instead, there are many ways to contribute!

This year I'm really glad I didn't go to the Costa Blanca, where it has been raining for days now.
As for carbon offsetting, I completely agree with Ditte. Just because you pay extra does not reduce emissions.
The cable car does not seem to be profitable, but a very rich enthusiast might get it back on its feet after renovation.

Yes, I have also seen on blogs that it is raining. And in Sweden it has been really nice 😉 .

Not having my mobile phone on holiday I would have thought it was crazy hard so it is at the top of my list!!! I listen to books and podcasts on it, take photographs, check social media, keep in touch with someone close and a few other things./ Pernilla

Same here, I would definitely not do without my mobile phone. On the other hand, I would like to include everything else on the list as well (although maybe not both books and tablets, one is enough), haha.

I have celebrated a birthday by riding that cable car. We brought champagne and prawn sandwiches which we ate as we slowly travelled high above forests, lakes and marshes. Unfortunately, we did not see any wild animals below us as we had hoped. Too bad if that cable car can't get a restart.
