In co-operation with Czech Tourism
Travelling to Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic by plane and bus is very easy. We started with an early morning flight to Prague, took a direct bus from Prague airport and arrived in Karlovy Vary just before lunch. The buses in the Czech Republic are also very comfortable!

Our trip to Karlovy Vary
We are on a blogging trip in the Czech Republic together with Kristina from the Czech Tourist Office and three other Swedish travel bloggers: Daniela from Discovering the Planet, Gunilla from 4000 mil and Lina from Liniz Travel & Lifestyle. You see the group in the top picture, from the left: Daniela, Kristina, Gunilla, Lina and Peter. The trip is to Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) in the western Czech Republic and the surrounding region.
Flights to Prague
We started early in the morning by taking a taxi to Arlanda. There are many different ways to get there to Arlanda and we sometimes take the bus or car, but this time it was nice to have a taxi.
We flew from Stockholm to Prague with Norwegian, and the journey took less than two hours. Our blog colleague Daniela, who lives in Skåne, flew from Copenhagen instead, which went just as well. We then all met at the airport in Prague.
Prague Airport
We hung out for a little while at the airport in Prague, waiting for our bus to Karlovy Vary. Since we had Kristina from the Czech Republic's tourist office with us, we got some smart tips that we can offer:
- The exchange rate at many of the ATMs at the airport is high, so you should choose the banks' ATMs. These can be found between Terminals 1 and 2 and are labelled with the name of the bank.
- If you want to buy water or snacks and don't want to pay too much, look for the BILLA store.
- There is a red basket (pictured) where you can buy bus tickets into Prague. Bus tickets to other locations are best bought online in advance.
Bus to Karlovy Vary
Travelling to Karlovy Vary by bus from Prague airport is easy and convenient. The buses (to both Karlovy Vary and other destinations) leave just outside the airport, under the big bridge. It is possible to buy a ticket on board the bus, but there is a risk of the bus being full, so it is better to buy a ticket online in advance. The bus ticket can be booked at Regiojet.com and for travelling to Karlovy Vary the price is just under SEK 60 (2019).
On board a bus in the Czech Republic
We have previously travelled by train in the Czech Republic, which is a very comfortable experience (with a waiter walking around all the carriages!). Now we discovered that travelling by bus is just as comfortable.
The bus ride from Prague Airport to Karlovy Vary takes less than 2 hours and during the journey you have access to WiFi, TV, headphones and the possibility to charge your mobile phone. There is also a menu and you can order soft drinks, beer, sweets and snacks.
Just remember to bring Czech money (and preferably in smaller denominations) to pay. How much does it cost? Peter paid 0.8 euros (about 9 crowns) for a strong beer and about the same for a bag of snacks.
Arriving in Karlovy Vary
We have now arrived in beautiful Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic. This historic spa town is located in a deep valley, surrounded by an intensely green forest. Here you will find houses with intricate facades, churches with gleaming domes, colonnades, fountains, wells with healing water and, above all, lots of spas.
We've been here before and loved it so much that we made this trip happen, along with three other travel bloggers. This time the plan is to experience even more spa and other things, both in Karlovy Vary and in the surrounding region. Feel free to follow us both on Facebook and on Instagram!

Perfect with a "local guide" who can surely give lots of tips! The trip was really smooth. Laughed well at the fact that Peter (as usual) is the only guy in the girl gang; -)
Karlovy Vary certainly looks incredibly inviting - and a little bit grand. Delicious! Enjoy!
