Biograd in Croatia is a charming little town located along the coast, a bit south of Zadar. We made an excursion here by car from Zadar, strolling around the cosy town and visiting the large Camping Park Soline, which is beautifully located right on the Adriatic Sea.

Biograd Na Moru in Croatia
We have visited the nice little town of Biograd in Croatia, or Biograd na Moru (The white town by the sea) as the town is also called. Biograd is about 35 minutes south of Zadar by car, and was perfect for a small car trip.
Biograd in Croatia is a cosy little town full of restaurants and boats. It also has an old town centre with a fine church and lots of winding narrow streets. Around 6000 people live in Biograd, but when the town's campsite is full, the number can almost double.
Camping Park Soline - at Biograd Na Moru in Croatia
At walking distance from Biograd, along a nice beach promenade, there is a large nice campsite that we took the opportunity to visit. Camping Park Soline is a really big campsite with over 1000 pitches for camper vans, and there are also plenty of cottages of different types and sizes.
At least some of the guests are Swedish - we realised this when we saw the Swedish flags flying. We spoke to a couple from Sweden, who turned out to be the owners of the beautiful Persköps car park in Skåne, where we were just a few weeks ago. How funny a coincidence is that? They seemed to be really happy with their stay here at Camping Park Soline.
The campsite has everything you need, including a shop and restaurant. There's also a bakery ... and an ice cream parlour! For those who are interested, excursions are organised to various sights and experiences in the vicinity, such as the national parks. Krka, Plitvice, Paklenica and Kornati.
The best thing about the campsite is that it is nicely located by the water, with lovely views and good opportunities for sunbathing and swimming. We swam a little bit from here, and must say that it is very nice in the water now in June. It is little cool when you take a dip (so it feels refreshing!), but your body quickly gets used to it and then it's comfortable to lie in and swim.
Cottages at Camping Park Soline
For those who are not travelling with a motorhome, caravan or tent, there are plenty of cabins. We've often thought that camping cabins can be a smart way of holidaying for a family with children or a group of friends who want to get close to the sea on holiday, but keep costs down.
Davor, from Camping Park Soline, showed us around a cabin that was currently not rented. Modern, fresh and smart bed solutions! Many of the cottages are located in a car-free zone, so that there is a quiet and peaceful atmosphere in the area.
Beer and snacks at Camping Park Soline
We also had a little chat with Davor at the campsite's restaurant. It was a really hot day, and it was great to sit down on the outdoor terrace right by the sea, where it was nice and breezy. Here we enjoyed a beer and a plate of local specialities - cheese, smoked ham and squid salad. I (Helena) haven't quite learnt to appreciate squid yet, but the cheese and ham were great!

It's so surprising to see all the wonderful places like
you couldn't travel to for so many years. Everything you showed in
Biograd appealed to me. What a gem you found.
Also Camping Park Soline! The photo from there is really inviting.

In Biograd you will also find a vegetable and fish market opposite the bus square. But good to get there early, if you want a selection. When we were in Biograd two years ago, we thought the baths were rather worn out and several drains smelled bad along the campsite. But it is nicely located on the seafront and the prices were attractive. we buy freshly caught fish, or rather Calamares, and grill them with a little olive oil and lemon.

Helena says:
It sounds nice with a market! We didn't notice any bad smells anywhere, on the contrary! Maybe fixed!? 🙂

Ama de casa says:
What a nice place and the campsite really had a perfect location. Although I like more campsites that are not so big, it usually becomes more personal and cosier on the smaller ones.
Stay well in Croatia!
PS: I like that "tents" were included in a corner there 😀.
18 June 2019 - 9:15
Helena says:
Of course it would be nice to have small personal campsites! And hehe, yes, of course the tents should be included ???

What a nice campsite with a perfect location. The cabins were incredibly nice too, clean and modern. Hope your advertising for the place makes more Swedes find there.
A funny coincidence indeed - it's a small world.
Squid salad that is sooooo good. You just have to try it sometime.
PS. See that both Peter and you have cut your hair:-) DS.

Helena says:
I like it when campsites are close to the water, but also close to a city, preferably within walking distance. And yes, I did try the squid salad ... It was probably excellent, but there was squid in it, haha. I can eat squid, but I have some difficulty with it. If it's deep-fried, it's easier 😉.

Husis blog says:
Yes, sometimes the world is very small.
For me and my owners this campsite is probably too big. We were at something similar in Pag a few years ago, but we like more family orientated campsites.
But it looks, as usual, absolutely marvellous on the beach.

Helena says:
Many campsites in Croatia are very large, but there are of course small campsites too! Do you remember which campsite you were at, on Pag?
