We have tested the Swift Tuscany 794eb motorhome. We drove and lived in the motorhome during an eight-day motorhome trip through Sweden and Germany. This is what we thought!

We have tested a Swift motorhome
We've checked out Swift motorhomes at several trade shows, including a post about Tuscany - smart and safe motorhomes from Swift GroupSince we have always been fond of the brand, it was fun when Magnus at Swift in Jönköping asked if we wanted to test a motorhome on one of our trips. Of course we did!
British Swift Group
Founded in 1964, the British Swift Group is one of Europe's largest producers of recreational vehicles. The company is committed to safety, quality and peace of mind even after purchase. Another thing that characterises Swift motorhomes is that many details, such as the oven and microwave, are included in the original version.
Swift is particularly big in the UK with many right-hand drive motorhomes for left-hand traffic, but left-hand drive motorhomes for the rest of Europe's roads are increasing.
Swift Tuscany 794eb
The Swift Toscane 794eb is an 8 metre long motorhome that, despite its length, feels very agile. The motorhome is equipped with 4 belted seats and 4 beds (two of which can be converted in the seating area).
Travelling through Sweden and Germany
We tested the Swift Toscane 794eb on a trip that started in Jönköping and took us over to Germany via Gothenburg - Kiel. The motorhome was then taken on a week-long and intensive journey through Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, before travelling back to Sweden via the Sassnitz - Trelleborg. It was a fantastically fun - but sometimes a bit stressful - trip. The swift simply had to show what it could do!
Driving Swift Tuscany 794eb
Peter's verdict is that the Swift Toscane 794eb is light and smooth to drive, and almost feels like a passenger car despite being just over 8 metres long. We drove fast on the Autobahn and the motorhome felt stable, with no major windage. It probably helps that the motorhome has a special stabilisation system.
Swift motorhomes are not equipped with an automatic transmission as standard, but the motorhome we tested was equipped with an automatic transmission. Peter had a little trouble getting used to it at first, but he grew to love it. He also liked the camera with a rear-view mirror, which allows you to look backwards at all times.
Kitchen with oven and microwave
Both an oven and microwave are standard in Swift motorhomes, which is unusual in a motorhome. We like to cook and are used to having an oven in the motorhome, so we think this is great. When we were travelling in Germany, we mostly ate in restaurants, but we wanted to heat up bread in the mornings. So it was perfect that there is a narrow little grill oven at the top, above the regular oven. Grilling bread here takes about two minutes. Very convenient!
In a motorhome, most advantages have a disadvantage, and the oven and microwave mean that space is taken away from things that could otherwise be used for storage. To use the oven and hob properly, you need space for pots, pans and bowls, and we have to say that it felt a bit cramped. The cutlery drawer also felt unnecessarily low, but there is room to spare so it should be easy to make it higher. The fridge, on the other hand, is tall and spacious.
Cosy seating area
The seating area is laid out as we are used to, with two seats in the direction of travel, two seats on the side and two swivelling pilot seats. The table is removable, and there is a narrow cabinet where it can be stored while travelling, as it has been found that this type of table can pose a risk to those travelling in the rear seats. We were alone in the car during the journey and left the table in place at all times.
Bathroom and separate shower
The bathroom is really fresh and nice with cabinets both up and down. It is possibly a bit cramped. The shower is on the other side of the corridor, and is also nicely designed. The bathroom door can be used either as a bathroom door, or it can be opened outwards and closed around the entire room (including the bathroom and shower). Convenient! We used this when I (Helena) went to bed earlier than Peter and wanted to be able to close the bedroom.
Bedrooms with different bed solutions
The motorhome we tested was equipped with two long beds. We know that many people love long beds and are sure that this solution is suitable for many. We ourselves got tired after a few days and lay down crosswise as we are used to, haha.
If you don't like long beds, the Swiften is also available with other bed solutions. We peeked into one that has a queen bed. Looked super cosy! One thing that I incidentally really liked in the bed was the small shelf where you can charge your mobile phone. Very handy!
Storage in Swift Tuscany 794eb
In the motorhome we drove, there was a large garage at the back, where you can fit everything from bikes to outdoor furniture. The main storage areas inside the car were a tall wardrobe next to the beds, and two deep and spacious hatches under the beds. Then, of course, there are many small cupboards, though not above the beds.
Control panel with app
One of the things that feels most modern and hitech about the Swift Toscane 794eb is the control panel. The panel is located above the door, and you can also download it as an app so that you can control the motorhome even when you're not at home. This means, for example, that you can ask the motorhome to empty the waste water - when you are not there. Or you can play tricks and switch the lights on and off when the other person is in the motorhome, haha.
Thank you for this journey, Swift
It was really fun to try the Swift Toscane 794eb during the trip in Germany! Maybe we'll get the chance to drive the Swift some other time in our lives, we wouldn't mind. Have you ever driven a Swift, or have you thought about a Swift motorhome?

Matts Torebring says:
When we buy passenger cars, we test drive for short or long distances. When we buy a motorhome, we have usually bought without test driving. However, not our current one, where we test drove a used car and fell in love with it immediately. Smart to test drive first.
We fell for the temptation of lightweight long beds nine years ago. That experience was rather short-lived for us. As you say, many people love long beds. I myself would probably only last a few days. But driving for 140 kilometres, I don't agree with that.

We test drove Freedom for a short distance before we bought, but it is of course difficult to determine how you will like everything before you buy. Good to have checked in many of course, with time you learn which solutions you like! 🙂 When it comes to beds, the taste is really like the cake, luckily there are different options! 🙂

Looked nice 🙂
Have I ever driven a Swift? Let me think... No, I don't think so 😉.

A super nice motorhome! But hotel camping can certainly also be nice many times 😉.

Dan Gyll says:
Buying a motorhome without a test drive is pretty stupid! We've done it once but we only had that car for four months. It was very cosy to be in when it was stationary. However, had a shower drain in the highest point of the shower floor etc. No, given the small spaces, you should actually try out each new motorhome for a few days as you have done.

Helena says:
It's good to test drive, which we did before we bought the Freedom. Over time, you learn what solutions and spaces you like, but it can still be difficult to know what you will like. It's especially difficult the first time you buy a motorhome 😉.

Mr Lars Eriksson says:
Not so appropriate to drive at 140km/h when the maximum authorised speed is 100km/h.
Strange if you don't know about it?
09 June 2019 - 10:28
Helena says:
Actually, it's true that we didn't know. We've never driven a motorhome weighing more than 3.5 tonnes before. We should have known, of course, but sometimes so much happens around us, and it's hard to do everything right all the time. Still mostly around 100, but tested the car at higher speeds.

Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
Imagine if you could take the goodies from different motorhomes and put them in one, how great that would be!
This motorhome looked so fresh but as you say. If you get good kitchen space, you get less storage and vice versa.
09 June 2019 - 11:59
Helena says:
Yes, right? The risk is only that if you pick up everything you like, the motorhome ends up being very large, haha. The Swift is fantastic! But it is always a priority in small spaces, exactly everything does not fit at the same time 😉.

BP says:
After this review, the Swift will probably sell a few motorhomes. You might buy one yourself and replace the Freedom;-)
09 June 2019 - 16:23
Helena says:
We could really imagine a Swift, have been looking at it for a while now. But right now there will be no new motorhome for us, so Freedom will have to hang on a little longer ... 😉.

Helena - Oh darling, let's be adventurers says:
Have never driven a Swift, but are going on a motorhome trip in the USA this summer, which will be fun. And interesting as we are 6 people who will live in the motorhome hehe.

Helena says:
Oh what fun! The USA is certainly suitable for motorhome trips! The motorhomes there are usually big too 🙂 .

Role o Carina says:
Borrow my brother's Swift in the 90s with his wife for a few days!
It was a cramped sleeping alcove, if you turned around, the
one shoulder in the ceiling and then you disturbed the wife too 🙂 .
That was the memory of that car, otherwise it was fine 🙂 .
They have certainly become the better for today for sure!
But we are soooo happy with our Adria Coral Supreme 🙂.
Take care.....

Glad you tried a Swift! But yes, things change of course! Here it was airy and good in the bedroom 😉.

Across the board says:
Swifts are also nice cars. We have good friends who have had a Swift for a year now and are very happy with it. What you have to pay attention to when you test drive a car is the weight of the car and the speed limit if the car weighs more than 3500kg (these rules vary from country to country)?
09 June 2019 - 21:31
Helena says:
Yes, we have understood the weight and driving rules now. Should have had control of course, but have never before driven such a heavy motorhome. Will hereafter check the rules country by country! 🙂

Husis blog says:
Test-driving is one thing, but you have done the important thing, test-driving the car. A particularly smart move. The owners occasionally look to change but often come back and say, where should we store our things? I certainly have plenty of space to store clothes etc., but owners often find this is not as good in newer cars.
An oven can be handy, but a microwave, well, owners would probably prefer an extra cabinet.
09 June 2019 - 22:21
Helena says:
I agree, trying before buying would be perfect! 🙂 Guess it is usually not possible, but it is really very difficult to know how you will like everything 😉 Can also agree that storage spaces in some cases are good in slightly older cars. But the newer ones have a lot of other advantages 😉.
