Have you ever made paintings with your own travel photos? We recently received a canvas board with a photo from one of our trips to Poland. Really fun to have a memory from one of our trips on the wall at home! Please tell us how you usually use your travel photos?

All these travel photos ...
Nowadays, when everything is digital, it is easy to take the lots of photos on their travels. But what do you do with your photos? We use photos both on the blog and on Instagram, but very rarely do we use them for anything. physically way. So it's kind of fun to try this with canvas boards - we have ordered a painting with a photo from one of our trips!
A photo from a trip in Poland
We have chosen to make a painting from our trip to Poland and the Czech Republic in the summer of 2017. The photo is from the Kozlowka Palace in Poland and it may not be our most beautiful photo, but it is an image that reminds us of a very fun trip. And what's better than being reminded of fun trips?
Ordering paintings with your own travel photos
We ordered the painting from BestCanvas.se. You simply choose the type of wall decoration you want (we chose a canvas board), upload a photo and choose the size. The painting is then sent and we had to pick up the parcel in the nearest (well) shop. It's easy really, but we always wonder why parcels always remain in the shops for such a short time? It is important not to miss the pickup simply!
Putting up a painting ... in a houseboat
The canvas painting did not come with any hanging devices, but a painting like this is very easy to hang. It's just that when you live in a houseboat you have to think about it. a little extra. It's not enough for the board to hang loosely on a nail, it has to be a little more secure so that it doesn't fall down when the houseboat rocks. We had to buy real suspension devices and nail them in place.
Our board is in place
Our board is now in place above Peter's workplace. We are super happy. Nice to have a picture that reminds us of our travels together!
What else can you do with your travel photos?
When you take so many travel photos, it's fun to use them in different ways! I (Helena) have previously made an almanac once. Now we looked around on Bestcanvas for inspiration on other products. For example, how about printing your travel photos on a towel, a pillow, a rug, a mug, a mobile phone case, a mouse pad or a puzzle?
What do you do with your travel photos?
Have you ever made paintings with your own travel photos, or how do you use your photos? Do you look at them digitally or do you also use them "physically" in some way?

Hmm, no, I don't use them in any physical way. Have thought about it, but it has not happened. Maybe I should take a closer look at that.

It's nice to have a photo board that reminds you of fun things 🙂 .
We used to have enlarged photos as paintings, but they weren't allowed in the move. Nowadays we only look at the memories digitally, but it's still quite frequent. We have a random slideshow program on our "TV" (using a computer combined with a large monitor as a TV) that shows pictures from the image archive randomly (strange that a random program does that... 😉 ). Since there are almost 100,000 pictures in that archive, we can end up anywhere in the world, sometimes we don't know where 😉 But Anders has done a great job of dating all scanned pictures so with the date that is also shown under the picture, it is possible to find the picture in the archive 🙂

I recognise the "random photo viewing program". I think we had something similar when we lived in Sumpan. It was kind of fun actually (but it was about sorting out embarrassing photos from the collections, haha).

Know those who have made a photo book. But some of our children have canvas that they have photographed themselves.

Nice that they also have canvas with their own photos! 🙂 Photo book is also a great idea!

So much fun! I think I belong to the group that uses pictures quite a lot outside the digital world. I had a large canvas board printed (1 picture divided over three boards actually) for our living room wall. And I plan to make another one this summer for a wall in the summer cottage. Will just take the picture first because there it will not be travel-related but rural. 🙂
In addition, I always make a photo book of each trip. And I also sell some of my photos in the US, where people buy them on everything from mugs, pens, notepads, bathroom mats, almanacs, pillows, shower curtains, etc, etc.

How nice it sounds with a picture divided over three paintings! And what fun that you sell your pictures!!! (Which are super nice!)

I have made paintings and it is great fun to have photos as paintings on the roads. Then, as many others have said before me, I have made photo books. My plan was to make a book from each country but I haven't caught up yet. Like so many things, it goes in waves and it's quite time-consuming to sort and search through photos. Not to mention deciding which pictures to use (there are a few to choose from!). However, the books I have made are very fun to have, and the plan is, as I said, to add to the collection...

I agree that it takes time to sort and search among photos. It can also be very fun, I think, when you are in that mood 😉.

Like many others, we make a photo book from most of our trips, sometimes with a lot of text like a diary, sometimes with almost only pictures.
Then we made a lot of slideshows with music bought in the country and mixed film clips and still images. Unfortunately, it's incredibly time-consuming but fun to watch on a chilly winter evening.

Glad you (and many others!) are making photo books! It sounds very nice! 🙂 The picture game also sounds fun, but of course it takes time!

We've made a couple of canvas prints from trips that are ok, but I prefer to get a good photo company to make enlargements and frame them. I have a great one here in Söder, on Kocksgatan that really knows its job. It gives them a different lustre. But one does not exclude the other. I also add pictures here to make albums from trips that are a little extra. For example, the one we did in February, to Cape Horn.
Otherwise, I'm pretty good at only saving pictures that mean something. After a while I usually ask myself why I save that particular picture. Easier then to clear.
I thought your canvas painting was nice! And fun to try!

So did we. Birgitta's office at work was empty on the walls. We chose two pictures from our travels in the Massif Central in France. The paintings were simply marvellous when they arrived and were ready to hang up. We bought our paintings from Önskefoto.

I have also made a photo board, but not with a holiday motif but with one of my coolest computer prints I once made. Strangely enough, I have never made photo books...
The painting turned out great and using two speakers(?) as "support is a great idea. Otherwise I can recommend chewing gum, I mean adhesive tape as extra support. Works perfectly if the board is not heavy.

I like to do something with the photos yes. It has become 1 baking book, some mugs, some memory books for the children and us, photo exhibition and now I am looking into making the blog into a photo book. I use fotoklok.se which I think has the best quality and colours. Just being able to sit and look at the photos in a "real" book beats the computer several times over! 😉

Most pictures end up in digital photo albums, but from time to time I develop "for real". I also have a polaroid camera that I usually have with me when I travel, those pictures end up on the memory wall =)

Oh how nice it turned out!
I usually order photo books, but it takes some time to make a book for each trip. Maybe I should invest in a photo wall instead 🙂 .
