Still travelling in Estonia - islands and more tourism

It was Friday again, and we are still travelling around Estonia. We have had really nice and interesting experiences this week, and now it is time for even more experiences - in the Estonian archipelago.

A week with many experiences

This has been a week of many experiences for us, and it is really difficult to choose what has been the "best". The visit to Lake Peipus in Eastern Estonia, among the "Old Believers" was very special and very interesting. It is an experience that we will not forget!

We also fell in love with the city of Tartu, with its Swedish history and youthful atmosphere. In addition, we made a detour to a summer camp for poor children in Latvia - that's another experience you won't forget! Here are this week's blog posts:

We have seen many storks this week.

Experiences in Eastern Latvia

We only made a short detour to Latvia this time, but we hope to see more of the country soon, maybe already next summer! The eastern parts, where we drove, are extremely green with long straight country roads, and only a few small villages appearing from time to time. The prices here are low and we had time to refuel: 11,85 SEK/litre for diesel we had to pay.

Estonia's west coast - more tourism

Now we have reached the west coast of Estonia, Pärnu and the islands off the coast. It feels quite different coming here, compared to the eastern parts of the country. It's fantastic, with beautiful beaches and nice wooden houses, but there are also more tourists and slightly higher prices (although prices are still lower than in Sweden).

The "total tranquillity" that we experienced in the eastern parts is not here. On the other hand, there is perhaps more that is adapted for tourists, in the form of hotels, restaurants, spas, theme parks, guided tours and so on.

Towards the islands

From Pärnu, we have continued out towards some of the many islands that are out here. The first island we visited is a fairly small island, and this was one of them. very interesting visit. Here, people still live by an ancient culture, with traditions so special and well-preserved that they are protected by UNESCO. Do you know which island it might be? We'll tell you more tomorrow! After that, we'll report on even more islands.
