Checked-in guests can also pass in and out of the campsite more easily thanks to automatic camera reading of the car's licence plate.

In a press release, the Göta Canal suggests ten different places to stay in Sweden - for those who want to travel sustainably and experience something exotic at home:
- Nest in mushrooms and stumps by the Göta Canal, next to Norrqvarn Hotel & Conference.
- Sleep 155 metres underground i Sala Silver Mine
- Spend the night in a real hut at Sweden's most primitive hostel - Kolarbyn.

- Sleep in three countries (almost) at the same time at Treriksröset
- Rock yourself to sleep to the sound of Sweden's highest waterfall. Njupeskär - you can stay in a tent or cabin
- Stay among the treetops at Hotel Andrum at Lake Hornborgar, 6.5 metres above the ground in an old oak tree.
- Staying next to the bison safari in Hjo, in a campervan or in a teepee.

Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
Even though we didn't stay overnight, we visited five of the odd overnight places. We visited the tree hotel Andrum at Islanna when friends stayed there and spent a lovely evening on the balcony up in the oak tree. A tent night at the magical Trollsjön must be incredible to experience!

Travelsis says:
It's always a bit annoying when we humans destroy things. As someone who likes Instagram so much, I don't want it to be the culprit of destruction, but unfortunately I understand that it can be so.
Fun accommodation tips! My colleague just lived in a stump, they were very happy?./ Pernilla

I've noticed an increase in AirBnb, which is a good alternative to use when we don't drive the campervan :).

On the ninth point, electronic check-in at Nordic Camping & Resort. Unfortunately, this is one of the many little things that make for a more monitored society.

In a way, every step you take can be tracked soon 😉 If only via your mobile phone. I have recently realised that it tracks where you are every 15 minutes or something like that.

Ama de casa says:
Holidaying in a big city is not bad (either). Have just left Vienna and have landed (by train) in Bratislava. Not perhaps the world's largest city, but it is at least larger than most of the small villages / towns we have visited in Spain lately 🙂 ).
Now we will soon go out and look at the city which seems to be very nice 😀.

Mr Steve says:
It is sad to read about all the places that tourism tends to destroy.
Lisbon is a very nice city and I have many good memories of it.

Helena says:
Agreed! Tourism needs to be spread out! There are so many places to experience and yet everyone wants to gather in the same places ...

Lena in Wales says:
It's amazing that so many people still want to go to big cities in the summer when it's at its hottest. Not for me.
Instagram certainly helps highlight certain places, but mass tourism has been around for a long time, perhaps because of a film, TV show or celebrity promoting a particular place.
Enjoy these quirky places to stay in Sweden!
Enjoy the summer heat!

Helena says:
Yes, but of course it is! There are examples of beaches that have become famous through films, for example, so you're really right! But it's a shame that we can't spread out more, there are so many places to experience!
