What to see and do in Swinoujscie, Poland? This time we came here by ferry, and we had a whole day to occupy ourselves before going on a sailing trip. But we've also been here before! Here are our top tips for this Polish coastal town.

Swinoujscie in Poland
Swinoujscie is a Polish harbour town, often reached by ferry from Ystad or Trelleborg.
Swinoujscie is located in north-west Poland, not far from the border with Germany.
A day in Swinoujscie
We came this time to Swinoujscie by ferry from Ystadand arrived at 06:15 in the morning. Since we arrived so early, we had a long day to spend. It wasn't until the evening that we would board the sailing yacht that we would be sailing on. We started by taking the free car ferry from the port to the part of Swinoujscie where the city centre is located.
We were so early in town that nothing had opened yet. What do you do? We hung out at the harbour and worked on the computers.
What to do in Swinoujscie?
We had a whole day, and decided to see what to see and do in Swinoujscie. We have been here once before, where we mainly discovered the beaches, holiday life and camping. This time we decided to see what else there is to do.
1. sunbathing and swimming
Swinoujscie has a long and wide sandy beach filled with soft white sand. Along the beach there are plenty of beach bars and boats and traditional beach chairs for hire. Just above the beach there are several nice walking paths with small viewpoints where you can sit down and enjoy the view of the sea.
2. Discover the centre of Swinoujscie
When visiting Swinoujscie, it is also interesting to discover the city centre. There are many nice houses, which remind of the time that has passed. In the centre we also found a nice exhibition with photos from summers in Swinoujscie, since the beginning of the 20th century.
There are also several houses with slightly newer but still interesting architecture, and a few different churches.
3. Straw in Park Zdrojowy
We walked to Park Zdrojowy, which is a beautiful green park with walking paths, deciduous trees, flower beds and fountains.
We really liked this park, which feels like a green oasis. The only disappointing thing is that the information signs here, as in most other places in Swinoujscie, are only in Polish and German.
4. Visit Fort Aniola
One of the attractions in Swinoujscie is Fort Aniola. This fort was built between 1854 and 1858, and today there is a museum here, including weapons and other war equipment.
5. check out Fort Zachodni
Not far from Fort Aniola is the next fort, Fort Zachodni. This was built between 1856 and 1861, and also has a museum with weapons and war equipment. Most popular among children was probably the slightly larger war equipment in the courtyard, which you could climb around on.
6. eat Polish food
During a whole day with lots of sightseeing, you get hungry of course, We had lunch at the restaurant Prochownia, which is located right next to Fort Zachodni. Here we ate cod with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut and pork with French fries, mushroom sauce and grilled vegetables. Really good! Even more specifically Polish foodsuch as pierogi, are on the menu for those who wish.
7. take a boat trip
In Swinoujscie there are several harbours, and plenty of boats and ships of all sizes. What we wanted to do in Swinoujscie was to go sailing. We therefore boarded the sailing yacht The Wind, which is a Bavaria C50 and made, among other things, a sailing trip through the Oder Lagoon. There are also opportunities for other types of boat trips, such as by ferry or catamaran.

Where can you stay or park your motorhome?
There are many different hotels and accommodation options in Swinoujscie. When we have been here with the motorhome, we have stayed at Relax camping, which is a rather simple but nice campsite, with a good location. From the campsite it is only a short walk to the nice beach, as well as to restaurants and cafes.
More to see and do in the neighbourhood
When travelling to Swinoujscie, you can choose to follow the Polish coastal road eastwards, passing lots of beautiful places such as Rewa and Łeba. If you are travelling south instead, you can get to Szczecin, which also has a lot to offer. We can also highly recommend visits to the island Usedom, which is shared between Germany and Poland. What wonderful memories come to the owners when you show your photos. My owners cycled to Swinoujscie from Heringsdorf last year. In addition to the cosy promenade that they cycled on, they saw many of the places you have been to now, unfortunately they missed the fort which seems to be interesting.
I hope that the bag will last the whole trip, not fun to carry all the luggage in your arms... 🙂.

Funny that they also cycled that way. We did the same bike ride a little later, but in the other direction. Very nice! ??

Swinoujscie seems to be a nice city that has a lot to offer. Not as nice as Sopot, but still;-) You must have been dead after the crossing, the early morning and the walk through the whole city with the suitcases in tow. To fix the wheel on the suitcase, I had probably bought a roll of duct tape. But now the suitcase has to rest on the boat, and there might be duct tape there....
Will be great fun to read if you have survived the first night of 6; -)

Helena says:
We looked for duct tape for a while, but gave up. Instead, Peter made sure to roll the two full wheels ? Now it should just lie on the boat. We'll see how it goes when we get home! ??
