It's almost time for us to embark on a new adventure - this time on a sailboat! For a whole week we will be hanging out on the lead boat of the "South Coast Baltic Boating Rally". We'll also have time to discover a part of Western and Western Pomerania in Germany from a bicycle saddle.

South Coast Baltic Boating Rally
On 4 August, the fourth edition of the South Coast Baltic Boating Rally starts on Bornholm, Denmark. The international fleet of 30 yachts will spend 10 days exploring the waters around Bornholm, north-west Poland and West and Western Pomerania in Germany.
The sailing trip is also complemented by programmes on land, including cycling excursions and film screenings. A total of 100 participants from seven countries, including Sweden and Denmark, are expected to attend this year's Boating Rally. We have been invited as press and will join on 7 August and be on board the lead boat. Soooo exciting!
This is how the tour goes
The sailing trip starts on Bornholm in Denmark and then continues to Poland and Western and Western Pomerania, via the following locations. We connect in Šwinoujscie!
- Darlowo, Poland
- Kołobrzeg, Poland
- Šwinoujscie, Poland (map image)
- Szczecin, Poland
- Krummin, Germany
- Greifswald, Germany
- Kröslin, Germany
Regions
The region we will be sailing in is characterised by unspoilt nature, living history and culture, long sandy beaches and unique lagoon and river landscapes. There is also a wide range of guest harbours - everything from family hunting ports to five-star marinas. We'll explore this up close, and tell you more about it soon!
This is the boat we are going on
The sailing yacht we will be on board is a Bavaria 50 c, built in 2018. The boat is really cool! Feel free to check out photos of it on Baltica Yachts website. It is 15.35 metres long and 5.05 metres wide. On board there are five cabins and three toilets. The picture shows the man who will be our skipper: Adam Walczukiewicz.
Our journey starts in Stockholm
We will connect in Šwinoujscie, but first we have to get there. Our journey starts by train from Stockholm to Ystad, where we take the ferry across to Poland. Hope you want to follow our adventure! You can, of course, as usual, follow here on the blog - and also on @freedomtravelnews at Facebook and on Instagram.
What is South Coast Baltic?

What an experience you will have! Sounds delicious (although I imagine I'd get pretty seasick in a sailboat?).

Probably needed - seasickness, you know! 🙂
Sounds like a very interesting sail.
but
I'm quite un-Swedish, because I don't like sailing.
Went out on San Francisco Bay a few times.
Nothing for me! But to see sails against a blue sky
I don't mind.
Canoe and eka = my vessels!

Lisa says:
So exciting to follow you on this different journey. It will certainly be very nice. Will keep my fingers crossed that you do not get too hard wind. Will be a little more speed in a sailboat than in your houseboat, I can believe even though my sailing experience is very limited.
