This week we have been visited by a childhood friend of mine (Helena) from Skåne. And we have acquired some new photo equipment. Happy Friday!

Visit of a childhood friend
On Monday evening, my (Helena's) childhood friend Johanna came to visit me in the the houseboat. She was going to a meeting in Stockholm and arrived by train the night before. There was dinner and a lot of buzz and then a joint walk into town the next day. Very, very funny!
Johanna and I got to know each other in Lund when we were 3 and 4 years old respectively and have made so a lot of fun together. Among other things, we have been on a language trip in England and travelled by train through Eastern Europe.
One of the things that came to mind was when we ordered pizza at Pizza Hut in Hungary over 20 years ago. We didn't realise that a "medium" pizza was for several people, so we ordered one for each of us. in addition we each ordered a salad (which obviously not was a side salad). When the waiter laughed a little at us, we didn't want to lose face, but went all in to eat up and look like it was a normal portion for us... One of all the funny memories that we can laugh about today!
New camera equipment
I have long been a bit dissatisfied with my camera equipment. My camera (Nikon D5200) with 18-300 lens is indeed very good, but the long lens makes it heavy and indoor photos tend to be dark.
We made two visits to the Scandinavian Photo store, and we considered all sorts of different solutions - from another lens to swap with to adding a compact camera. Then I ended up buying an external flash. They had a second-hand external flash that fit my camera, so it wasn't too expensive either.
We'll see what I think of the flash, but so far I've discovered that it's possible to take photos indoors against windows, which has always been difficult before. The first photo below is taken without the flash, and the second is taken with the flash.
So I can't escape the fact that my camera is heavy, but to solve this I've now got a proper shoulder strap, so I can carry the camera on its side. Happy Friday!
Best this week?
The best thing this week was of course to get a visit from Johanna, but it will also be exciting to try the new camera equipment. It feels good to have taken hold of training and eating habits, but unfortunately there is already a little break in the training because Peter got a sore back. But he is going to the naprapath today, so we try to get back on track! Now we want to hear what has been the best part of your week?
The week ahead
In the coming week, we will be working and meeting with tourist offices. I hope to be able to write a summary post about all the things you can do in Sharm el Sheikh - and I'm hoping that Peter will write a post about that very special restaurant he visited last week!

Hahaha, a medium pizza each at Pizzahut. OMG! Did you manage to eat up?! How nice to meet an old childhood friend. I also have contact, and meet, several of my childhood friends. So much fun!

I'm glad you got to see some of your childhood friends! Haha, we probably didn't eat it all, but we did a good job. Johanna was an active swimmer at that time, so she was able to help with a good effort 😉.

Childhood friends cannot be appreciated enough. I met my "girl gang" who have been my friends since year 1 for lunch and an autumn walk on Monday. We have really followed each other through joy and sorrow, everyday life and parties.
I hope you will like your photo strap. We each have one, great, and a clip you can attach to your belt or to a rucksack strap which also works well.
It will certainly be good with an external flash. Lars has this and now they have had a course at the photo club on how to use it. Unfortunately while we were away.
Have a good weekend.

Fun with the "girl gang"! 🙂 Yes, it was you who inspired the camera strap!!! So thanks for that! 🙂 Do not know much about the flash really, but have read on a bit ... will see how far it is enough 😉

So much fun with Johanna and all the fun memories that popped up! Oh how tall she is:-)
Congratulations on the new flash and shoulder strap. The difference between the "test pictures" is incredible.
PS. Tell Peter to start slowly and then step up. He has gone up a few pans and is perhaps liiiite unaccustomed to exercise. He should probably hurry slowly. DS.

BP, yes very funny! And haha, I feel a little short there 😉 Will say hello to Peter!!! It is true that he is in a bit of a hurry. However, think that the back evil started at the last flight ...

But you don't have to take a break from training just because Peter has a sore back!

Great to meet at the beginning of the week! It was really one of the highlights of the week. Another was the evening's 7-course dinner with Sven and my close colleague and his wife. It was a 60th birthday present for my colleague, but then a lot has come in between (he turned 62 this summer...). Fun with a really good dinner, close to where we live, and in a place none of us have been to before! Hope Peter's back improves quickly! Have a nice weekend!
