There is a lot going on right now and sometimes it feels a little messy, but it's also great fun with all the opportunities that are out there! This has been a week full of work, mingle and travel planning.
Table of contents
Busy daily life
Our everyday life includes lots of work, and sometimes it's a bit difficult to keep everything going in your head. I (Helena) am lecturing quite a lot at work right now, and this week I also got a request to lecture in Germany this spring. I got an email telling me that they have translated the health promotion programme I developed during my PhD ... into German. Great!
In connection with the blog, we are also preparing several lectures right now. In addition, Peter is continuing with our motorhome project (more on that soon!) and preparing the houseboat for the winter. And we're trying to find time to train... Phew! And by the way, I am a randomly selected participant in a research project this week, about how green spaces affect our health. So I'm running around with a GPS, and taking blood pressure every day on schedule ...
Mingle at the Sri Lankan Embassy
This week we mingled a bit at the Sri Lankan embassy. They have long collaborated with Emirates, which has smooth flights to Sri Lanka, but now they have also started a collaboration with the Polish airline LOT. Great with another flexible alternative! From this autumn, you will be able to fly to Sri Lanka with LOT, via Warsaw.
Book release: Historical Berlin
Last night Peter was at the book release for the new book "Historic Berlin - Travel Guide to the Second World War and the Cold War" by Anna W Thorbjörnsson and Marko T Wramén. A really rich and packed book for those who want to discover Berlin's exciting history.
We got a signed copy, and started browsing it last night. Wow, what a lot of interesting things, now we are even more eager to discover Berlin! Because no, we haven't been there yet ...
Halloween is coming up in Northern Ireland
Did you know that the celebration of Halloween has Irish origins? We have previously written about why Halloween is celebrated in Sweden. In the coming week, Peter will be travelling to Londonderry in Northern Ireland, which appears to be the place to celebrate Halloween. It's going to be really exciting! We've been wondering if Brexit would disrupt his visit to the UK around 31 October, but now it looks like there will be an extension...
More travel plans
Do we have more travel plans? Yes, actually we do. Right now it feels like all sorts of travel plans are sailing around in the air. None of the plans have really "landed" yet, but there will be more trips this autumn. We will get back to you!
Best this week?
The best part of this week is probably all the fun plans and opportunities that are flying around! And now we want to know ... what has been the best part of your week?
The week ahead
I think I wrote two Fridays in a row that Peter will write about an exciting restaurant he visited in Stockholm. Now I write for the third time that I think that he will write about this interesting restaurant soon! We will also write about the progress of the motorhome and the autumn preparations for the houseboat.
Did you miss the last Happy Friday? Read the A visit from a childhood friend and new photo equipment

Yes, it seems to be a lot right now for you! Don't forget to breathe a little too... Preferably in one of the green areas.
The best part of the week was probably when Lena in Wales and her husband came to have breakfast with us!

Helena says:
Yes, good idea! 🙂 And what fun that Lena in Wales came to visit!!! Nice weekend!

There is a lot going on.
Interesting book, love Berlin.
Have a good time in Northern Ireland and Derry (prefer to call the city Derry instead of Londonderry, as there is a big religious and political difference in this name for the same place).

The book seems really good! Want to travel to Berlin now 🙂 And yes, I have understood that there is a little difference between whether you call the city Londonderry or Derry. But I must admit that I have not really understood how it is connected yet. We will read on!

Lena in Wales says:
Derry is the name of the city for Catholics and Londonderry for Protestants.

You don't seem to be getting in shape! "Running around and taking blood pressure on a schedule" doesn't sound optimal for healthy blood pressure, but what's not to like about research?
Berlin can only be recommended and is one of the big cities we would love to go back to. Then it sounds fun with different travel plans. We have also managed to fill up several free weekends before Christmas with various fun excursions...
The best part of the week is that I started my knee training with the physiotherapist. I thought I had at least SOME leg muscles, but this was no lazy man's work. I just hope it makes me pain-free so I can suffer the pain for a while.....

Helena says:
Haha, absolutely true! But really, what do you do for the research? 😉 Berlin feels like a super interesting city! Not surprised that you have plans ... What are the fun excursions that lie ahead ...? Sounds good (but tough) but the knee training! Nice weekend!

Looking forward to reading the posts about the development of the motorhome. Best this week is probably that we got our new mattresses today! Hope to sleep well tonight and wake up to a beautiful sunrise.

You don't seem to need to exercise, at least not you who exercise (un)voluntarily anyway;-)
Fun with Halloween in Derry, Londonderry is probably most associated with the IRA and the struggle between Catholics and Protestants in the 1970s and 1980s.
Also, a big CONGRATULATIONS to you and your thesis translated into German. You will probably become a real celebrity there too:-)

Planning trips is a big part of travelling itself 🙂 .
The best (of ALL the good things) that have happened during the week was probably the whale trip with the jumping humpback whales the very best. One thing to tick off the bucket list 😀.
