Glorious Budapest

We have been in Budapest We've been here a few times before and we've always liked this city, but this time it's even more apparent. Hungary's capital is full of beautiful buildings and many of the things you want to see and do are within walking distance of each other. The city is also characterised by the mighty river Danube and all the beautiful bridges and big river boats. And then there are all the ancient bathhouses and all the good food ...

Budapest

Being on a blogging trip

We travelled to Budapest because we were invited to a food and wine themed blog tourbut we chose to arrive a day earlier and stay a day longer, so we've also had a lot of 'own time'. That's not too bad because blog trips tend to be very intensive.

Imagine that every day starts early, and of course you have to be ready with charged cameras, empty memory cards, clothes for all weather and activities on the schedule and - ideally - an alert brain and a creative mind.

Guided tour of Budapest (and no, Daniela doesn't have a horse on her head...)

Then the activities come thick and fast - café visits with local pastries, sights, guided tours, restaurant visits, wine tastings, chefs talking about the history of the family business, some more sights, some churches, another restaurant visit, another chef, some more wine, etc. It's great to have Hungarian guides, and we bloggers take the opportunity to ask about everything from wine regions to Christmas traditions.

Dinners run until 10pm (or more) and there's a lot of laughter around the tables. When you get back to your hotel room, you need to go to bed - but then, of course, you have to empty memory cards, sort photos, charge cameras and phones, Instagram and maybe ... blog? That is, if you have the time. And then it starts all over again the next morning. So much fun, but when the programme is over and you are alone again, it feels like semester.

Best this week?

The best part of this week has been travelling with wonderful blog colleagues, but also experiencing beautiful Budapest. Above all, it has been great to try so many fantastic restaurants and to learn more about Hungarian food traditions and wine. Don't forget that we also want to know what has been the best part of your week!?

The week ahead

In the coming week, you can expect more reports from Budapest - on food, wine, bathhouses, caves, excursions and more. We will also tell you how the winter storage of our motorhome FREEDOM is going. For us ... exercise and more moderate eating!
