It's now both cold and dark in Sweden, and it's easy to sit at home and dream of warm, exciting and perhaps exotic destinations. Here are some trips and destinations we are dreaming about right now.

What trips and destinations do we dream of?
Should travelling often make you 'saturated'? It certainly doesn't happen to us. When we are travelling, we see new potential destinations "swish by" and when we are at home we read travel reports and look for facts about destinations. And we get new ideas for places we want to visit!
Travel blogger 4000 mil recently wrote about the journeys she dreams of right now - and we're continuing on the same theme. Here are the trips and destinations we're dreaming about at the moment.
Warm destinations
Right now it has become really cold in Sweden, and our winter jackets are being repaired by a tailor, so we are wearing jackets that are too thin. What do you long for then? Warmth of course! I could imagine a week almost anywhere where it is warm. Mexico? Bali? Cape Verde?
Exciting cities in Europe
We have travelled a lot in Europe, but we still have many interesting cities left that we haven't visited. Some of our favourite cities are Berlin, St Petersburg, Bratislava, Vienna, Wrocław, Belgrade and Bucharest.
Places of interest in Europe
The more we travel in Europe, and the more we read, the more we become curious about new destinations. For example, after reading up, we have realised that there is still a lot to see and experience in Sicily. We have also become curious about Cyprus, and on a bunch of smaller islands in the Mediterranean.
Long motorhome journeys
The absolute best way to travel for us is to take long motorhome trips. If we can dream freely, we want to travel around by motorhome for a whole year again, as we did during the past year. 1-year campervan trip 2015. We would love to discover more of France and Central Europe, but also maybe see Romania, for example.
If we're going to dream a little less big, we're also looking forward to motorhome trips during the summer holidays. For example, we are curious about motorhome holidays in Latvia, Lithuania and Hungary.
Exotic destinations
Exotic destinations are always a bit appealing because they are... exotic. For example, it would be exciting to experience Japan at some point in our lives, and we would love to see more of Africa. In addition, we have long felt a small curious attraction to countries like Georgia, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Not to mention Greenland for example... There is so much to see and experience in the world!
What trips and destinations do you dream of?
Please tell us which trips and destinations you dream of? Are any of these dreams about to be realised, or are they more distant?

I wish I could visit Bhutan and Lhasa, Tibet.
The Himalayas have always fascinated me. Don and I had
3 days in Kathmandu, Nepal, on the way back from Indonesia in 1982.
We visited Uzbekistan the year before the Berlin Wall fell. Com
from fancy Yalta to Tashkent and then on to Bukhara and
Samarkand, which was part of Marco Polo's Silk Road. Ancient
mosques and towers were under repair. Should be ready now.
The cities had beautiful avenues but everything looked worn out. USSR
were on their way out.
I also wish I had seen more of Africa. Have only visited
Morocco (spelling), which added to the flavour.

Anders wants to go to the moon and I want to go to Ullared. Neither of us is likely to get to our dream destination....
Malta is another dream I have. And more of the old Eastern States. The "train ride" we did from Vienna to Bratilava and then Budapest was a real treat. And Japan... OJ how much there is to see out there in the world! 🙂

Helena says:
Yes, there is so much to see and experience! Somehow Anders' dream destination seems more unattainable than yours, but not everything is what it seems ...

Two wishes for next year are Lake Balaton in Hungary (saw that you also had Hungary on your list).
Then England and walk in the footsteps of Rosamunde Pilcher in Cornwall etc. Got a book from my daughter many years ago with wonderful pictures of the coast and beautiful gardens.

I visited Lake Balton on a train trip when I was very young, but would love to go back there! Nice to be inspired by a book! 🙂

Of course, there are many beautiful things to see and experience, both in Sweden and our neighbouring countries. But they are quite accessible and do not require so much time. We are partly hungry for Antarctica after our trip where we almost rounded Cape Horn. But that may remain a dream - more accessible are Alaska and Svalbard. But also South Africa, Amazonas, Galapagos and Japan are on our list and should be reachable. We'll see what happens. Closer to home, I want to visit Wales and take the train from Vienna to Venice and also visit Bratislava.

I think it is good to have some dream destinations both near and far. Some are easier to reach and others more difficult, but good with a little to dream about 🙂 Antarctica sounds exciting, and Wales also sounds interesting!

Our list of dream destinations could go on and on, but among the motorhome destinations, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Baltic States and the far north of the Nordic region are the most popular.
Exotic attractions include Peru and the remaining country in southern Africa, Namibia.
Then we have been talking about Iceland for years.....

I'm glad you are interested in more eastern destinations when it comes to motorhome travel! We have really good experiences from there. We have also talked about Namibia. And Iceland is a country I love 🙂 .

So if you long for "just" heat, Gran Canaria for a week is just as good;-)
There are a number of destinations that I would consider if I were not so opposed to long haul flights - but not because of the climate impact. "Exotic" destinations such as Bhutan, which I have read about on the blog Kråkwinkel, is enough for me to follow them on the blog. But a country that I dream about despite the distance is actually Japan, where I even have friends.

Helena says:
Yes, but I agree. When it comes to heat, Gran Canaria can work. I could imagine it too, but in that case I'd want to explore some of the islands we haven't visited (I've been to Gran Canaria and Tenerife). Bhutan sounds very exciting and fascinating, I agree!

So many exciting places! Dreaming of more of them myself. 😀 For example. Greenland! But at this time of the year, it is slightly warmer destinations that are most tempting. For example, Colombia, Ecuador and the entire Caribbean... I have also been dreaming about Ethiopia for a long time, and I will be travelling there in just a few days! I'm really looking forward to it.
Of the places you list, I can definitely recommend Romania (which I just visited for the second time), Azerbaijan, Georgia and Uzbekistan! Absolutely amazing destinations all together. 😀
