This weekend it was time to organise winter storage for our motorhome FREEDOM. We made it just before winter came, which feels really nice. We have also had time to repair the cushions, and Peter has taken a lot of measurements for spring work on the motorhome.

Project FREEDOM 2.0
If you haven't followed us during the autumn, we can tell you that we have decided to completely renovate our motorhome FREEDOM. The motorhome is 12 years old, we have travelled a lot in Europe and the motorhome has also been outside for several winters. Here are previous posts:
- FREEDOM 2.0 - time for revival
- Charging your campervan's batteries, cleaning and fixing lights
- Inspection and major servicing of motorhomes
- New tyres - and still problems with the clutch
- New connection to the motorhome - and new tables and chairs
Repaired cushions
We had it sewn up new upholstery in the motorhome 2009, and we did so at E&N Upholsterers in Sundbyberg. We have been very pleased with the work, and the fact that some of the seams have opened up after ten years can hardly be complained about. Especially since we've spent a lot of time sitting in those chairs!
A few weeks ago we took the driver's seat and two cushions in for repair, at the same place where we sewed it all up a decade ago. On Friday we went straight from the airport and picked up the repaired stuff. We expected to pay, of course, but E&N Upholsterers actually did the repairs for free. Fantastic! The fabric is now slightly worn, but still perfectly fine. And now everything is whole again.
Winter storage of a motorhome
Our motorhome has been left outside for several winters, which of course is not ideal. Now that we have started taking care of it again, we would like to keep it indoors. And, of course, it feels extra important after we got an unpleasant water leak in the motorhome roof.
Our friends Tore and Catharina, who live in Värmland and also have a motorhome, told us about a garage where we can keep the motorhome over the winter with electricity connected, at a good price. Last Saturday we left with the motorhome on a combined weekend to both visit friends and set up the motorhome. It was a nice Saturday in Värmland, and then train back to Stockholm.
Moderating for spring work
Peter also took the opportunity to take a lot of different measurements of windows and hatches. The idea is that we will replace several of these, and it is good if we can order them during the winter, so that we can fix this in the spring.
It feels really good that we have proper winter storage for the motorhome this year. In the spring we will continue the work of renovating and fixing FREEDOM!
If you have a motorhome, what do you do with it in winter?
Role o Carina says:
Perfect to get everything sorted again with the cushions and free repairs too!
We have perfect indoor storage for over 10 years now and only
barely 2 miles from home with the landlord's guard and also alarmed!
It saves the car a lot and feels safe! ??
Have a good time / Happy Advent

Good that you got away with Freedom before the slippery weather hit! It seems to have done so over large parts of Sweden now ...
See that Peter is up to scratch! Well done! 😀

Yes, it was a little last second we made that Värmland trip! And haha, yes it's lucky that someone keeps the measure 😉.

It was good service to have it repaired free of charge. I would gladly go to such firms again.
Both I and my predecessor have always been indoors in winter. My owners wouldn't want me outdoors, even if it had been possible in my newly built car park. Here I am warm, never go below 12 degrees, and have power so the owners can see me and how I manage my charge.
I hope you find out where it leaked into FREEDOM.

Yes, indeed! We are super happy with the wallpaper company in every way! It's good that you can stay indoors with heat! And thank you, the leak in the ceiling will be checked more carefully in the spring.

We camp all year round so the motorhome is, as always, at home in the courtyard when we are not travelling. Sweden's four seasons are fantastic in a campervan. You can't get closer to being "one with nature" without freezing. ??

Helena says:
That sounds cosy! Our motorhome is poorly winterised and we have chosen to use it three seasons, but I can definitely understand the charm of using it in winter!

So glad you got away on time and that Freedom doesn't have to stand outside and freeze this winter.

It's fantastic that the workshop repaired the cushions free of charge, after ten years. Unbelievable! Hope they get many more customers now that you have linked to them.
How lucky that you went to Värmland when you did. It would not have been so fun this weekend if you say so.

Helena says:
Fantastic of the workshop, isn't it? Yes, gladly recommend them! And yes, it was on the hair that we made it to Värmland, but sometimes it feels like everything in our life is on the hair 😉.

Our motorhomes have also been left outside in winter for many years. We usually drive some miles in the winter as well. Now we are building an insulated garage with underfloor heating for our campervan. The nasty thing about standing outside is the ice that forms on the roof. When we drive off, it can come down on a car. We don't want that, so we're going all out.

Great that you have a real garage now! There your house bus will thrive! 🙂

But how nice that they repaired the cushions! Such a contact is super good to have. Nice that Freedom gets a roof over his head this winter. Previously, we had the motorhome under a roof in the winter, but since 2014 it has been outside.

Helena says:
Yes, it feels good to have it inside now! Especially considering the leak in the roof and other things.

Yes, you like to talk warmly about the company when you get such service! Then we have been very happy with everything they have done too! Wishing a nice advent!

I take all the textiles out of the car and clean it thoroughly...5 dry balls cans ...
A couple of good smelling (what's the name?)
Scent of spruce...also pushes extra air in the wheels...pours washer fluid in the outlet all water out of course...places indoors but not heating room.
And down with the support legs...
Removes the negative terminal on the battery.
