It's Friday again, but not just any Friday. Today is Lucia, and from Egypt we wish all our readers and friends a very happy Lucia!

The light in Egypt

The word Lucia comes from the Latin 'lux', meaning light. Here in Egypt we hardly see any Lucia crowns or Lucia lights, but instead we enjoy the light from the sun. We've talked about it, and even though the heat is nice, it's the light here that we appreciate the most!

Christmas feelings in Egypt?

What about the Christmas feelings here in Egypt? Well, we think very little about Christmas when we're here, but you do see some Christmas trees in the squares, some Christmas decorations here and there, and a bunch of Santa hats in the shops.

We have also visited a church in Hurghada, and perhaps that can be counted as a Christmas activity? Although the majority of Egyptians are Muslim, there are still many Christians in the population.

Partying and dancing in Egypt

We won't see a Lucite train, but instead we have seen some other performances. Last night there was both belly dancing and another Egyptian dance where the dancer was spinning, spinning and spinning ... Really fascinating to watch!

Best this week

The best part of this week, of course, is that we're here in beautiful El Gouna in Egypt, enjoying the light and warmth. What has been the best part of your week?

The week ahead

We make some excursions at the end of the week in Egypt, and we haven't had time to tell you about them yet. We will continue to tell you about El Gouna and Hurghada during the coming week. And maybe there will eventually be a little ... Christmas atmosphere.

Now we wish again a very nice Lucia! Are you celebrating, and if so, how? Please tell us!
