If you're travelling to Hurghada, Egypt, don't miss out on the Hurghada Marina Boulevard. The marina in Hurghada is a peaceful oasis with a beautiful promenade, long rows of magnificent luxury yachts and plenty of restaurants and outdoor cafes. The city's fish market and the large Al Mina mosque are also close by.

One day trip to Hurghada
After several days on the Zeytouna Beach Island in El Gouna we wanted to look around the neighbourhood. We visited Hurghada in 2005, but were curious to see what we would think of the city now, so we took a taxi. We start by telling you about the new marina, which was one of the places we visited.
Hurghada Marina Boulevard
Hurghada Marina Boulevard, or Hurghada's new marinais a slightly more luxurious area of the city. The colourful houses with holiday apartments are modern and the large luxury yachts are densely packed. As you walk along the quayside promenade, you pass countless restaurants and bars, as well as designer shops and bazaars.
Boats and luxury yachts in Hurghada Marina
Many of the boats moored in Hurghada Marina are magnificent. The marina has capacity for 200 luxury yachts, ranging from 10 to 100 metres in length. There is a wide range of large and small yachts, both domestic and foreign flagged, as well as several dive boats that take tourists on diving trips.
Restaurants along Hurghada Marina Boulevard
We arrived at Hurghada Marina Boulevard at lunchtime and were hungry. We simply chose the first best place (Che Guevara) and ordered a beer and a simple dish each. The food may not have been surprising, but the view and environment were certainly not bad. Nice atmosphere! In total there are around ten restaurants, and almost as many cafés/bars.
Nearby: Hurghada Fish Market
If you go to Hurghada Marina Boulevard, you can also check out the Hurghada Fish Market, which is right next door. There are lots of fishing boats here, and we were told that the fishermen go out on these for a week at a time and sleep in the little bunk at the front. The catch is then sold at the market, and it is really fascinating to look around among all the exciting and colourful fish here.
Nearby: Al Mina Mosque
Next to the fish market is the large Al Mina mosque, which is really beautiful with its domes and towers. We were content to see the mosque from the outside, but it is also open to visitors. As a woman, you have to wear covering clothes to enter, but it is possible to borrow suitable clothes near the mosque.
How to get to Hurghada Marina Boulevard
Hurghada Marina Boulevard is located at Sakala Square, about 5 kilometres from El Dahar Square in central Hurghada. We got from El Dahar by Uber, which is a very affordable, convenient and reliable option for getting around the centre of Hurghada.
However, when we went back, the app signalled that we were "outside the pick-up area", so we took a regular taxi instead. This also works great, but is a bit more expensive.
Have you been to Hurghada, and if so, have you visited the marina? What did you think?

Yes, interesting to see a bit more than "just" El Gouna. And thank you! 🙂

Yes, I have and we also visited the marina. It's a nice area but also a big contrast to other parts of the city. We were there in the evening and strolled around for a few hours and then sat down at a restaurant.

Yes, the marina is a bit of a contrast to the rest of the city. We thought it was perfect for relaxing after intense markets and the like 😉.

Che Guevara! Wonder how that name comes up in Egypt?
Che was a revolutionary born in Argentina.
He became known as a hero in Cuba when he helped Fidel Castro.
in a coup d'etat. He was executed in Bolivia at the age of 39.
short but "interesting" life.
Then you wonder - how did the yacht owners get their money?
Fish market - Always fun to visit. You can't believe it,
how many different varieties there are, and as you say, colourful.
By the way, was the fish on ice?
Time for breakfast - 4 plus degrees and drizzle in Northern Virginia. Ciao!

Interesting reflections Ruth! I reacted like you, and wondered why the restaurant was named after Che Guevara. There was also a picture of him 😉 .
We looked at the flags of the yachts, and there were some with American or French flags, but many with Egyptian flags. No idea how they got their money, but among 100 million people, there must be some who are rich ...
The fish market was nice! Some fish we recognised, like the seabream. Others we had never seen, and there were some that were shimmering blue, red and orange. All were on thick beds of ice! 🙂

BP says:
The marina and promenade seem to be newly built and are very beautiful with the typical Arabian houses. The yachts are well in the class of St Tropez and Antibes. Somewhat unexpected considering that it is Egypt we are talking about. But I guess that particular part of Hurghada is for the rich and the tourists. It was about the same in Agadir too.
I just love fish markets.

Helena says:
Yes, that's right. It is quite clear that this marina is aimed at the wealthy and tourists. Feel just like you with fish markets. Just miss not having the campervan - then we have a kitchen and can shop too!
