Now we have a motorhome, a car and two electric bikes. It feels like we have expanded our "vehicle fleet", but the plan is actually to reduce it a bit over time. By investing in the motorhome and our new bikes, we hope to be able to do without the car.

The camper van
Our motorhome is over a decade old and has worn quite well over the years. It should also be recognised that we haven't maintained it as well as we should. When we thought about it last summer, we realised we had two choices - get a new motorhome or refurbish our trusty FREEDOM.
We chose the latter option and took out a loan to be able to take care of everything that needed to be fixed: new clutch, replacement of brake pads and clutch cylinder, new tyres, new batteries, major service, replacement of cam belt, new windows, new foiling... and a lot of other things. We don't want to be without a motorhome!
This summer we are planning a longer motorhome trip. The plans are not finalised yet, but countries that have been mentioned include Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
The passenger car
While we don't want to be without a motorhome, it's almost a bit crazy that we have a two cars. On a day-to-day basis, we don't use either of them, and they mostly sit in the car park and cost money. Of course, we use the private car sometimesbut the plan now is to get rid of it. We think we can replace it with a combination of a motorhome, car sharing service, taxi and ... electric bikes.
Electric bikes
Yep, now we have two electric bikes! We premiered them a while ago and the other day we tested them in snow, which went super well. Fantastically smooth to get around with these! With Peter's basket we can also carry some bags or pouches.
Finding an economically viable solution
For us, it has been about finding a solution with vehicles and bikes that work in everyday life, but also about finding a financially reasonable solution. We've long felt that we were spending money on the wrong things, while the campervan just keeps on wearing out... Taking out a loan to fix the campervan felt like a good investment and we hope that these changes will lead to more well-used vehicles and lower costs for us in the future.
We only borrowed for the renovation, but of course you can also take out a mortgage. car loan for the purchase of a new car. If you are going to borrow a larger sum, it is of course good to be able to compare different loan offers and conditions. At enklare.se, you fill in the loan application, receive different offers by e-mail or text message, and when you have chosen an offer, you sign with your bank ID.
Which vehicles are in your garage?
What is the situation in your garage (or where you store your vehicles)? Are you satisfied with the vehicles you have today?

I would definitely do without a car if it weren't for two things, the teenagers and the summer house.
I always used to cycle, but have now started to walk instead on a daily basis because it feels even healthier.
And yet we have 2 cars!

We have our nice, new Toyota. Or yes... It WAS new when we bought it in 2006 before moving to Spain 😉 It runs like a clock and I like it very much. I wouldn't want to be without it, even though it usually just sits in the garage, but if we're going to go shopping it has to get out and move around. The main reason we have it is for all the tours we do around Spain and neighbouring countries.
Otherwise, our fleet consists of horses. Apostle horses. Horses ARE in fact vehicles and so should be the horses of the apostles 😀.

Nice to have a car you like! And you really use it for your trips! Then the apostle horses are great, agree! 🙂

I have a Plåtis that is parked and stored in a garage during the winter months, plus a small Polo that is just the right size for year-round and short trips. It works perfectly for me and is something I intend to treat myself to as long as possible... Have a nice trip and subsequent holidays. Love Henny

Wouldn't want to be without our Tintin! Now it is driven relatively regularly, but when we both worked in the city, it stood unused in the car park during the week. Since it once again went through the car test, it may be with us for another year:-) No, I would not want to be without a car, it gives a sense of freedom.

There can be a sense of freedom with a car! I know what you mean! We hope to find a good combo with a motorhome, electric bikes and sharing services! 🙂

We have the motorhome in winter storage and a car in the garage, which is used quite frequently. Bicycles are both foldable in the motorhome and regular ones at home, as Falköping is a city with most things within cycling distance.
Then there is the missing motorbike, a Yamaha FJR 1300, which Lars had when we met and which we rode a lot for a couple of years. Then we bought a campervan and golf clubs and there wasn't quite enough time. After an accident (which thankfully ended well) it was redeemed by the insurance company, but at least Lars still misses it, especially when we happen to end up on nice motorbike roads on a beautiful summer day....
