The end of the year is approaching and it's time to summarise the 2019 motorhome and travel year. It has been a really exciting year with a variety of travel experiences - from motorhome adventures and sailing to spas and food and wine trips.

Three motorhome holidays in 2019
We have made two trips abroad by motorhome this year - one along the German Baltic coast and one around Estonia. Both times we used borrowed motorhomes, and some people have wondered why. The simple answer is that we had problems with our motorhome - and that we were offered to test two others, which was very interesting! You can read our reviews here:
During the autumn, we have started to fix the our own motorhomeand it travelled to the Elmia fair in September. Next year it will roll more!
An exciting year of travelling
It has been an exciting year for travelling, and in addition to the motorhome trips, we have had time for a lot of other trips. Here is a small review of the year.
January - Sri Lanka and Finland
We spent the last Christmas and New Year holidays in Sri Lanka together with friends. Here we made a fantastic round trip to, among other things, the temples of Anuradhapura, lion mountain Sigiriya and the beautiful city bile in the south. A beautiful country, where animals and nature are all around you!
Later in January we visited the large Matka travel fair In connection with this, we also visited the sea fortress in Helsinki. Sveaborg. Very interesting!
February - Östersund
In February we travelled to Östersund to check out Alpine World Cup in Åre, together with the Austrian Tourist Office. Here we also visited the nice spa hotel. Copperhill Mountain Lodge. A wonderful winter experience!
March - Iceland
In March it was time to visit the Icelandic Food Festival. Food and Fun in Reykjavik. Wow, what food! We also took the opportunity to see a bunch of classic sights, such as the geysers. Strokkur and Geysir, the national park Þingvellir and the geothermal bath Blue Lagoon. Have I told you that I love Iceland?
April - Ringsö in Lake Mälaren
April was a relatively calm month on the travel front (the calm before the storm!) and we had time to visit our friends' summer house on Ringsö in Lake Mälaren. Here Peter helped to installing a chimney for a wood-burning stove.
May - Kristianstad, Czech Republic and Germany
May started with a press trip to Kristianstad. We were surprised by very good food, and had several interesting excursions, including one to Ivön and Bäckaskog Castle, cosy Åhus and the Qigong Temple Yangtorp.
We only had a few days at home before it was time for a blog trip to the Czech Republic. We visited the czech spa region around Karlovy Vary, where we enjoyed lovely spas, learnt more about the tradition of "drinking well" and tested beer spa!
The travelling in May continued, and at the end of the month it was time to set off on the "Beach Basket Challenge" motorhome trip in northern Germany. We travelled together with 6 other motorhomes - and competed every day against each other. Intensive and fantastic fun! Among other things, we visited cosy Goods, the fine city Stralsund and the beautiful holiday island Rügen.
June - Croatia
In June we travelled to beautiful Zadar in Croatia, on a press trip organised by the Croatian Tourist Board. We travelled around by car and experienced several fantastic places in the region, including the lovely Island of Pag, royal city Nin with the world's smallest cathedral and the beautiful national park. Paklenica.
July - Estonia
In July it was time for the summer's big motorhome trip, which went to and around Estonia. Wow! Estonia is a fantastic country to discover by motorhome! Among other things, we visited the beautiful Lahemaa National Park, the nice city Tartu and the beautiful island Dagö, with its Estonian-Swedish history. Rummu quarry was also a very special place!
August - Poland and Germany
In August, we had the chance to join an exciting sailing trip with South Coast Baltic, which works to promote the southern Baltic coast for sailors. We got to experience cool sailing while visiting beautiful and interesting places such as Szczecin in Poland, Greifswald in Germany and the beautiful German-Polish island Usedom.
September - Elmia, Switzerland and Egypt
During September it was time for the Elmia Husbil Husvagn fair in Jönköping. It was an intense fair when we were an exhibitor, lecturers and pressure at the same time. Of course, we also looked at mobile homes and accessoriesand met a lot of friends, such as the Beach Basket gang from the May trip (pictured).
Peter also travelled on a press trip to Verbier in Switzerland. I (Helena) couldn't go because of work, but was told about a tough hike - and some amazing views.
In the same month we travelled to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt. We were invited by the travel agency 1001 Natt Resor, which started direct flights from Stockholm. Unfortunately, the travel agency has gone bankrupt, but they made us open our eyes to Sharm and Egypt! We experienced, among other things, wonderful snorkelling, fast-paced desert safari and an interesting excursion to St Catherine's Monastery at Mount Sinai.
October - Northern Ireland
In October, Peter travelled alone again, this time because it was a press trip that only offered a single seat for the entire Nordic region. If you want to experience a really Halloween celebrations - this is the place to go! Halloween in Derry offers a mighty parade and a ghost town where you go All in.
November - Camping cruise and Hungary
November's first trip was a camping cruisewhich was organised by Husvagn & Camping in cooperation with the German Tourist Board. A fun and intense day with a fair, lectures, good food, performances and parties.
In November we also went on a food and wine themed blog trip to Budapest. Wow! We visited several amazing cafés and restaurants in Budapest. Among other things, we also had the opportunity to try thermal bath and to visit the city's underground caves.
December - Egypt
As I said, we discovered Egypt and planned to go back to Sharm el Sheik as an "early Christmas trip". When the travel agency we booked with went bankrupt, it was instead a last minute trip to Hurghada. We enjoyed the hotel Sultan Bey in El Gouna, hung on Zeytouna Beach Island and snorkelling in the Red Sea.
Phew, what a year! It has been fantastic fun! But now it feels completely ok to be at home over Christmas and New Year and take it easy. Next year ....? There will of course be new adventures. Do not miss it!

There have been many trips of various kinds for you, most of which I have participated in via the blog. And the trips you have made together with what you have experienced become very tangible when you compile them. Wishing you a good travel year also in 2020.

What a wonderful year of travelling you have had.
My owners are particularly keen on Estonia and these are the thoughts they had after listening to you at Elmia. So I suspect that one summer I will be heading for a new country.
My owners liked Poland too, so it's probably on the agenda again.

As you have travelled in 2019! How and when did you work Helena;-)
I have joined in and travelled cheaply, which was actually quite comfortable:-)

Helena says:
Haha, yes I also wonder that sometimes 😉 For a large part of the year (until September) I only worked 50 per cent, and then it became very flexible with time. A little trick and fix it has still been ... and fortunately I have very flexible and understanding colleagues! 🙂

Thought I had commented here, but just thought as usual. 🙂
I think Estonia is your most exciting trip in 2019. You got to see so many unexpected things that you would never have thought existed in Estonia.
Then the Czech Republic was very nice, except for the weather. 🙂
