This week has been full of festive activities such as Christmas dinner, Christmas mingle and winter cycling. We have also been sick and had a trip cancelled due to a bankruptcy, but quick as a flash we booked a new trip. Happy Friday!

Winter and winter cycling
It has been winter in Stockholm for a few days and I like it. I think you are less cold when it is 3 degrees below zero than when it is 3 degrees above zero.
This weekend we also tested for the first time our new electric bikes in snow. It really went so good, very nice to cycle with these in the winter weather! The only thing that was a bit tricky was that Peter's lock was frozen, so we had to pry for a long time (and warm up the key) to get it open. Must get some kind of lock oil!
Christmas party
We didn't just cycle at random on Sunday, but the goal was to visit Peter's son Robin and his wife Alexandra. They offered awesome and tasty takeaway sushi (check out the raspberry!) and then we continued to their friends' home for a Christmas party, with mulled wine and lots of goodies. Nice!
Christmas table
On Tuesday, it was time for me (Helena) to go to Christmas dinner with work. My new (since 1.5 years) job has a tradition of eating Christmas table at Vaxholm Castle. Really nice! The concept includes a boat trip to and from Strandvägen, and then you get to enjoy a good Christmas table in the cosy castle. Very nice staff too!
Best this week
The best part of this week has been all the nice Christmas cosiness and that we managed to book a new trip to the warmth. As usual, we choose to ignore all the crap, such as that I had a terrible migraine attack on Saturday, that Peter had a sore shoulder / back all week and that the travel agency we booked a trip with went bankrupt. These are things that are simply part of life. What has been the best part of your week?
The week ahead
We're travelling to Egypt soon, so you can expect reports from Hurghada in particular on this blog. It will be interesting to see what we think about Hurghada compared to Sharm el Sheikh!

I would not dare to cycle in the winter ... well maybe with winter tyres then;-) You probably have nice bikes so you feel safe. Nice to go to the heat again for you.

I can't believe it's Happy Friday again!
This week we had a two-day visit from my middle daughter, so cosy!
We also had Christmas dinner with work.
Travel withdrawal occurs quite quickly so now we are already looking forward to travelling but will have to settle for Sunday - Monday in Stockholm.
Hope you have a great time in Egypt!

Yes, time flies... You get travel withdrawal quickly, for some reason 😉 Thank you, and have a nice weekend!

Absolutely agree with you Helena when it comes to snow and cold. Burr as the weather has been today with the rain, feels really rough. Would not mind travelling to the heat again, you are right.

Yes, now it is rough ... Hope it will be real winter again, it's better! 🙂

Great that you found a new holiday. The owners heard on the radio that the Christmas and New Year holidays were selling like hot cakes but perhaps it was easier just before Christmas.
Hope you find something good to push into the lock, although many warn against pushing any liquid into the lock as it often destroys more than it helps. Maybe defrost the bike indoors...?
Anyway, wishing you a very nice weekend.

Emma, sun like sun? says:
Frozen locks are definitely not a big deal! I remember one time when it did it on the car. I built like a little tent around the door (two planks I leaned against the car and a tarp over it) and ran the cabin heater aimed at the lock until it thawed. Luckily the heater was in the garage at the time, not in the car. It is simply a matter of resolving the situation.
Do the same tyres work all year round on bikes? Or are there summer and winter tyres as well?

I recognise frozen locks, but not on a bike but on the car. Good thing you're a smoker and always have a lighter with you;-)
Vaxholm castle is really a different environment for a Christmas table. Glad you liked the staff, because my friend's son works there:-)
Unfortunate with migraine attacks, back pain and bankruptcy. But as you say, you can't influence these things yourself, so you just have to "ignore" them.

The best of the week must have been the Christmas market visit on Sunday, at Hammarskogs Herrgård just outside Uppsala.
