Many Swedes are taking the opportunity to travel abroad this winter, and according to a survey by the online travel agency eBeach.se, 31 December is the day most Swedes choose to travel. Winter: seniors' turn to travel
Statistics from the SOS International alarm centre show that the peak season for travellers over 60 years old is from October to March. Spain is the most popular, followed by Thailand and Greece. Here is the advice from SOS to seniors before travelling:
- Find out what your sickness cover is via the Blue Card and your travel insurance.
- Check if your blue card is still valid or if it needs to be renewed.
- Undergo a medical pre-assessment if you have one or more chronic diseases, are under investigation or in the queue for investigation.
- Remember your medication and medical certificates.
- Always contact the emergency centre before visiting a doctor at your destination.

- Tokyo, Japan

- Miami, USA
- Malaga, Spain
- Hong Kong

What great pictures! It is somewhat surprising that most destinations are kind of far away and require long flights. Greta would definitely not like that;-)
Equally surprising were the travel days - Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

We've flown on Christmas Eve a few times because it was cheaper, but I didn't realise it was the most popular...
