This week, the German Tourist Board and Schleswig-Holstein hosted a culinary evening. There was good food, mingling and also some travel inspiration for the Schleswig-Holstein region in Germany.

Culinary evening
The culinary evening began with bubbly and mingle food, and then the evening continued with a starter, main course and dessert. Delicious of course, but also very nice. The invitees were a mix of bloggers, journalists and travel organisers. We met some friends, but there was also a lot of bubbling with new acquaintances.
Schleswig-Holstein
Are you familiar with Schleswig-Holstein? This region is located in the north, closest to Denmark, and includes Kiel and Lübeck. Here you can hike, cycle or enjoy cheese or marzipan. We have visited several great places in this region:
We also became curious to visit the city of Schleswig and the island of Föhr and other islands on the North Sea coast. Or why not sleep in one of those cool hanging tents...? Ida Larcén from the German Tourist Board (pictured) and her colleagues gave a very inspiring talk.
Best this week
Perhaps the best thing this week was this nice mingle? And before that of course Stockholm - Tallinn cruise! What has been the best part of your week?
The week ahead
We are working quite a lot right now and I (Helena) in my job as a public health scientist/evaluator make a lot of visits to different suburbs around Stockholm. Many interesting meetings!
We will write about several museums we have visited, and we might also tell you about some trips we have coming up!
Did you miss the last Happy Friday? Read the Questionnaire, museums and travel magazine article

Great mingling and meetings! The best thing this week is probably two things. Firstly, yesterday's blog date in Uppsala and that it is a special day today!

Despite being so close to Sweden, Schleswig-Holstein is an almost white spot on our map. Lubeck, Kiel and Haithabu are the only things we have seen there. The North Sea coast with its islands really attracts a visit.
What a lovely mingle you were invited to, the food looked delicious!
After four days with two 7-year-olds on holiday and three heavy workdays, it will be nice to have a weekend with a Queen concert tonight and a spa visit Sunday-Monday.
Have a nice weekend!

It is probably easy for many people to pass by. But you have seen a lot there anyway! 🙂 Surely the islands on the North Sea coast sound exciting? 🙂 Ojoj, both concert and spa, wonderful! Have a nice time!!!

Hm, Schleswig-Holstein German... it cuts me to the heart as I have Danish roots and we believe it should still be Danish! But I have mixed feelings about the fact that they want Skåne back as well. Glad you had fun.

Haha, yes, of course you can think that way? I'm from Skåne, but even though I like Denmark, I like to stay Swedish 😉 Hugs!

The food looked delicious, no German specialities there;-)
Kiel is known for its sailing week and Lübeck for its Christmas market with marzipan pigs. The city of Lübeck is actually really nice.
Which suburbs have you visited and what are you researching? I assume that the suburbs do not include Täby and Danderyg but are located to the west and south;-)

I agree that Lübeck is a nice city! 🙂 As for my job, I am evaluating a project that involves prescribing physical activity on prescription to people with mental illness - and that those who receive the prescription can bring it to a clinic outside the healthcare system where they meet a health educator who helps them get started. "Physical activity on prescription is not new, but the model of clinics with health educators is new, so that's what we're looking at. The project is being trialled in two areas - Södertälje and Kista/Akalla/Husby. I am interviewing those who write the prescriptions (healthcare professionals), health educators, and people who have received the prescription.

Interesting! You should write some posts about your job sometimes. Okay, you have a travel blog, but some "personal" elements would not be wrong at all, I think. What you do is a "journey" as well;-)
So I was right with my assumption. The journeys went/will go south and west;-)
PS. Physical activity on prescription for people with mental illness, that was completely new to me. Great idea. But that topic actually applies to all suburbs, or rather all of Sweden, right?! DS.

There is a lot to visit in Schleswig-Holstein. Eckernförde , Plön and Heiligenhafen are some examples.
Laboe near Kiel is also nice .
