Holidays abroad are being booked closer and closer to departure
January is traditionally the month with the highest level of travel bookings. Usually, the main focus has been on summer travel, and to some extent on next winter's foreign holidays. Now there has been a shift towards an increasingly later booking behaviour, according to a press release from Ticket. Of the trips booked in January 2020, 56 per cent have been trips departing between January and April, while only 11 per cent are bookings for summer trips in July.

Norwegian continues to reduce emissions, according to a press release. An upgraded weather data service from AVTECH Sweden AB can reduce emissions by an additional 10,000 - 15,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. The new product Cruise Profile Optimizer calculates the most fuel-efficient altitude for each flight based on winds and performance. The numerous initiatives taken by the company in recent years reduce the company's emissions by up to 200,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
New floating spa hotel in the Lule River
A new international hotel has opened in Harads on the Lule River. Arctic Bath is a year-round hotel that floats freely in summer and is frozen in the ice of the Lule River in winter. The round main building creates a sheltered environment for those who want to sunbathe or winterise in an open bay. The hotel has a restaurant, lounge, bar, cold baths and a small spa. You can also book activities such as fishing, dog sledding, bear watching and snowshoeing. The hotel consists of 14 independent wooden buildings.
Reflection of the week
Really cool with a floating spa hotel in the Lule River! We like the marketing of unique experiences in Sweden, with wilderness life and winter activities. But winter swimming? No thanks, that's not for us!

I think it sounds really nice with the floating hotel! It's a shame that it's so expensive to tour in Sweden because if you come from a "low-wage country" you can't afford to do all these interesting things in Sweden.

The hotel looks somewhat - how should I say... hollow;-) Completely agree with your reflection. But the "hut" is fun... to look at sitting in front of a computer and 22 degree heat indoors.

Think the spa hotel is super cool! Wonder how it works when it floats on the river and is frozen in the ice... Must be good engineering there!
It's also nice to see how exclusive tourism is increasing up here. I just read that both Kiruna's and Swedish Lapland's tourism industry is breaking records: https://www.besoksliv.se/blogg/emmagrameus/mina-tolv-senaste-printscreens/
