Happy Friday? It feels very difficult to be really happy now, when almost everyone in society is worried about people's health, the survival of companies and the country's economy. However, we are happy that we Swedes can still be out in and enjoy nature.

Working from home
We have been working from the houseboat all this week. Peter always works from home, but now I (Helena) do too. We are encouraged to work from home by our boss. Many people at my job (those who have a background in health care) have also signed up on a list, to be able to take over the care in case of emergency.
My colleagues and I hold video meetings with Zoom. This week we also held video meetings with researchers in Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam and Dublin. All of these researchers were also sitting at home, with children running in and out of their offices...
Fixing at home
You can't sit at the computer just all the timeso sometimes we do other things. Among other things, Peter has screwed new legs to the pull-out bed in our sofa bed. We sleep still on the sofa bed, because we couldn't afford to buy a new air source heat pump (which makes the lower deck cold). As you can see, we have at least afforded to buy a new screwdriver, after the fact. the previous one fell overboard …
Watches in all colours
I also have to tell you about Peter's latest shopping! He really loves watches (and glasses) in different colours, and when he sees something he likes, he gets very excited! euphoric.
Just before it started to feel like you shouldn't move around in public at all, he paid a visit to the centre of Solna. What did he find at Kjell & Company? Lots of watches in different colours ... Were we ruined? No, luckily they only cost 40 SEK each. Now it has to be matched!
Being outdoors
We spend a lot of time at home now, but you can easily spend time outdoors in nature! We are very happy for. At the end of last week we took a trip to Djurgåden and this week we also visited a beautiful nature reserve. We'll tell you more soon!
Best this week
This has been a heavy week with a lot of anxiety related to the wretched coronavirus. The best part has been seeing examples of people helping each other, with no personal gain in mind, and that you can still be out in nature. We will take advantage of that! Is there anything you can highlight as positive during your week?
The week ahead
We will write about our visit to the nature reserve. If the weather continues to be nice, we will visit even more nature areas in the Stockholm area. Now that we both work from home, it is really nice to get out! We have also ordered stuff for our motorhome FREEDOM and will probably write a bit more about motorhome life.

It is probably the opportunity to spend time outdoors and in nature that we miss the most here in our "house arrest".
How nice that you take the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors when the weather looks really nice.
For you, Helena, perhaps this break in your hectic life wasn't so bad, although of course we all would have liked to avoid this forced situation.

I really understand that you miss it! I don't think I ever appreciated getting out in nature as much as I do now, when we spend a lot of time indoors. And yes, it is true that this slowed things down. It can be good, but I wouldn't have wanted it this way... How long do you have left now before you fly home?

We put our hope in SAS on Tuesday! This morning we had that ticket, one with Ryan Air on the 30th (which was cancelled an hour ago) and our original one with Norweigan on 6/4. That flight will surely not run as UD's app says they stop running after the weekend.

Yes, it is really nice to be able to be outside! We are doing some landscaping and planning for spring. Our best thing this week is that the little baby has arrived!!! She was born yesterday! The husband is a grandfather and I am a bonus grandmother!!! Talk about Happy Friday! ?

Oh, BIG congratulations!!! How wonderful! Then you really have something to rejoice about, in the middle of this sad news flow! 🙂

Here we can only go out if it is necessary, such as to the shop, and then we are not allowed to walk together.

Yes, I have understood that. And understand that it must be hard in the long run. Thinking that it should be good to be outdoors, as long as you keep your distance? Or is it perhaps so crowded that it is not?

Not easy as you write to feel happy right now, but that's why it's even more important to do something that makes you feel good, such as being out in our fantastic nature. That's what I also do to be able to endure all the turmoil that happens inside me?. / Pernilla

Here we are not allowed to go out without a "valid reason"... It makes things a bit different, for example, we almost "fight" to go out with the garbage. Haha! It was not the most sought-after chore in the household before the corona made its entrance 😉 But we are nice to each other and divide the garbage so one gets to go with the recycling and the other with the rest. The recycling garbage is the winning ticket, because those barrels are probably... 50 metres further away 😀.
You could say that. I have experienced happier Fridays... But we have a roof over our heads, food, drink and each other. You can definitely have it worse after all 🙂

It is interesting (and a little scary) how life can change so quickly. No, throwing away the garbage has rarely been so high in the course ... We are happy that we can be out in nature, it feels good for both body and mind 🙂 And the internet yes, ours actually swayed yesterday, terrible thought ...

I think you should feel immensely happy that you didn't make the trip to Tunisia! You would have been stuck there indefinitely with other French people who now have no idea how to get home. And risk being infected (because it's spreading there too) and then only have access to healthcare of a quality you don't want to experience. This is the absolute downside of travelling apropos of previous posts and I personally believe that there will be a different way of thinking about how we should act in the future when it comes to travelling around the world. Do you have any thoughts about that? Or do you think that everything will be "business as usual" and that we will forget about this?
I personally think it's sad to be classed as an infectious 70-plus in this ageist Sweden and we therefore stay completely in self-imposed isolation given that one of us is a high-risk patient. We have made our absolute first e-food order at ICA, 200 metres away. With home delivery for SEK 89 - THAT was the joy of today: that it went so fast and well. Then we will see how it works in reality! In France there is a real state of emergency with worse and worse sanctions, but on one level I wish we were there anyway. It's clear what the situation is - living in a country that is the last in the world to go its own way is not fun! But we will now have our Friday aperitif and start a nice weekend in front of the TV! Have fun and take care of yourselves!

Helena says:
Yes, it was the right decision not to go to Tunisia, it's true! And yes, we do believe that travelling can be affected. We've written about it here: https://www.freedomtravel.se/2020/03/miljohot-och-virus-hur-kommer-resandet-paverkas/
But what do you mean by people over 70 being considered carriers? I have never heard that. I've only heard that you should be careful not to accidentally infect older people. Take care, and have a nice weekend!

Monica says:
When it comes to the discussion about the 70+ age group, like many other things in Sweden, it has become a boring discussion. Several influential forty-somethings have stated in columns or debate articles that they certainly do not want to be characterised as elderly. They feel vigorous and healthy and have no intention of following any calls to isolate themselves, but instead spend time in society and live as usual.
Many people in other age groups are rightly reacting to this because they are being asked to pay special attention to the elderly.
21 March 2020 - 9:07
Helena says:
Ok, yes, I understand what you mean. Yes, if most of society tries to take extra care of the elderly, it will be strange if they themselves want to do the opposite. I understand that you can feel vigorous and healthy, but it's difficult to know exactly who will become seriously ill, and then you may have to help a little.

BP says:
Yes, the whole situation is surreal, but at least in Sweden you are still allowed to go out, albeit with certain restrictions that, strangely enough, not everyone follows.
The good thing about this crisis is that there has been a sudden and immediate shift from (unnecessary) travelling to video conferencing. And it seems to be working just fine. So Greta will probably be happy.
Saw the watches at Kjelle and was very tempted, but they were slightly too small for my taste. I prefer larger watches.

Yes, it is wonderful to be out in nature! Among the best there is.
My favourite of the week must of course be our engagement on Saturday. An engagement under a clear blue sky on a Mälar cliff along the hiking trail. Could not have been better!
