This week we have had two events: a morning with Haglöfs and an evening with inspiration about Myanmar (Burma). We would also have gone on an exciting trip today, but it is unfortunately cancelled.
Table of contents
Press breakfast with Haglöfs
Peter started Wednesday morning with a press breakfast with Haglöfs, who showed clothes and products in the Haglöfs Brand Store at Kungsgatan 10 in Stockholm. Among other things, they showed a super thin a jacket that keeps you dry and warm, even though it weighs hardly anything at all.
Myanmar travel show
Last Wednesday after work it was time for the Myanmar Travel Show. Organisers from Myanmar (or Burma as the country used to be called) were in Stockholm to tell us what you can see and do in their country, and to make contact with Swedish tour operators. Very interesting to listen to the presentations!
Myanmar offers both nature and culture and organises everything from adventure trips to family trips. It was particularly interesting to listen to a presentation on southern Myanmar. There has hardly been any tourism at all, but now there are projects that train local people in tourism and help them start businesses that benefit the local communities.
We got really curious to discover Myanmar on occasion! Have you been there? By the way, on the top picture you can see Peter and Sandra from Lifsresor.se at the mingle after the presentations.
Trip to Tunisia cancelled
Today we were supposed to travel to Tunisia, on a press trip organised by the Tunisian Tourist Board. We were looking forward to this trip very much and had a super exciting programme in front of us.
Recently, Tunisia increased airport controls to protect the country from the coronavirus. It is understandable in these times, but meant a little too much risk of quarantine or cancelled flights. We really hope we get another chance to experience Tunisia at another time!
Best this week
The event with Myanmar was really nice and inspiring! Otherwise, many things (not only the Tunisia trip but also conferences and events) have been cancelled. It feels very sad, but if we are going to try look at it positively, it is that it will be a bit less stressful. Of course, there are also advantages to staying at home in these times. What has been the best part of your week (big or small)?
The week ahead
We thought we'd be writing about Tunisia all next week, but that's not going to happen. What will we write instead? Not a clue! What do you want to read about? Flood us with suggestions!

Also some events that have been cancelled.
Have a great week,

Yes, that's the life we have to adapt to right now, I think. Sad, but of course important to deal with the outbreak.

How lucky that the Tunisia trip was cancelled! Professor Agnes Wold is just one of those who say that now is not the time for any pleasure or holiday trips. The situation regarding the coronavirus is now changing hour by hour and the travel industry is bleeding to death. You run a travel blog - what is more natural than to also tell about and reflect what happens when the whole map changes and the compass spins in all directions? This is ONE part of the incredible change in our travelling patterns since just 30 years ago and what has contributed to this pandemic. "This virus is travelling without a passport", said French President Macron last night in a very serious speech to the nation.
You have raised the issue before about possible concerns about this virus. There are still many who either do not understand the extent of this, do not WANT to familiarise themselves with it, who believe and think that this is just exaggerated panic and hysteria. And those who don't give a damn about leaving anyway. And then risk getting sick, ending up in quarantine, not being allowed into the country, not being allowed home. Plus be met with empty hotels, abandoned bars and restaurants and empty streets. How fun is that?
You can't pretend this doesn't exist - it affects everything in the world now. You don't have to lose hope over it. Write about things you can do instead. How you continue to prepare your motorhome, how you do it and how you think about planning your own trips, what you've learnt over the years. And maybe, in light of this situation, a bit about "prepping", both for travelling under normal circumstances and in a crisis.
For many people, planning and preparing trips is often as much fun as travelling itself. Since this looks like it's going to be a long trip, there might be time to really familiarise yourself with the history of the different destinations. Maybe you should take that language course anyway to avoid being stuck with just the tourist phrases? Scan all travel apps, GPS, maps, guidebooks, brochures and everything online?
You've also started writing about Swedish travel destinations - there are plenty left. Right now, museum visits are not the best thing to do, but continue with the parks, nature reserves and the unknown gems in your neighbourhood?
And if you're mingling, keep some distance. There's a reason why restaurants in Italy are fined if diners are not placed one metre apart!
And sorry long post as usual!

Yes, it feels like the right decision. even if it was not a pleasure trip 😉 But we also believe that it will be easier and better to experience and report on Tunisia under different conditions. We hope the trip can take place at another time. No need to apologise for writing long! Thanks for the content tips! We have been thinking along these lines. When it comes to "panic", I think it is probably usually good to try to avoid that particular feeling, as panic is rarely constructive and can also lead to a lot of negative things, but discussing what you can do to protect yourself and others is important! Wishing you a nice weekend!

Yes, now it's time to adjust mentally. In a way, it's nice to land in the present here at home!

Take a week off from blogging, we think, as we will soon be travelling to Tarragona. Will check what you thought of the city before. Remember that you were there on your fun motorhome trip some years ago.
To be located at site 340 with bus service to the city. ?

Nice! Tarragona is a nice city, with lots of historical remains. We stayed at a campsite when we were there, but nice if you find a good pitch. Have fun!!!

How much has changed in a few weeks! When we were with you three weeks ago, we were looking forward to Las Fallas in Valencia and you to your trip to Tunisia. Now you are sitting at home and we are starting to feel the virus creeping closer to us and hope we get home in three weeks.
Right now we're enjoying the warmth and good company, but at the same time we're staying away from large crowds and major centres.
It is amazing that such a small creature as a virus can change the world so completely...

Yes, it has gone fast! And this really affects everything and everyone right now, in so many different ways.

Hope you get to Myanmar and report on that trip! I would like to read it!
Understand the disappointment after the cancelled Tunisia trip... Here, schools are cancelled from Monday and we are celebrating the unexpected school holidays 🙂 Planning to do a lot of hiking trails, put up bookshelves, plant in pation... The virus will come sooner or later, for sure, but it worries me less than people's bunkering, panic measures and looming economic crisis.
I would like to read about buying a motorhome! One of my two big dreams right now is to have a motorhome. Now it would be perfect to have one and be able to go away 🙂 We're saving up for a second-hand motorhome and I'm curiously looking at adverts online. Is it possible to get a decent motorhome for €10,000? What should you consider when buying a second-hand motorhome? Will a 30-year-old motorhome work (in our price range they are that old)? 15 years ago, a friend of mine went to Germany and bought his motorhome because there was a large, cheap second-hand market there. Is it worthwhile to go abroad and buy a motorhome? Any tips?
That's my wish post 🙂 Have a nice weekend!

We would really like to travel to Myanmar! It sounded incredibly exciting, and nice with all the positive collaborations with the local population so that they can take part in the benefits of tourism. And how fun that you are thinking about a motorhome!!! Thanks for the post idea! I will try to put together such a post one of the days now that we should have a little more time!

Monica's comment is very good. Great suggestions for posts. Since travelling right now is about the last thing anyone does voluntarily right now (if you are not stupid), maybe you can write something more personal about yourself as well. Maybe how it feels to take it easy and rest a bit;-)
PS. I wonder why Peter is wearing his "Russian hat" indoors;-) DS.

Yes, great suggestions from Monica! We had been thinking along those lines, and got even more good ideas. Great! The Russian hat? Haha, guess he likes it? (Maybe he didn't use it enough this mild winter ;))

Wise to wait for travel! Tips on what to do in corona times that are positive might be a post? Games that are fun, creative creation, solitaire, books, podcasts etc? I myself sew, crochet, go through photos, make a photo book (tips Fotoklok.se), talk to the children via messenger, but right now I sit against the sun wall with a cup of tea and hear the birds, just breathe,
